An Xbox 720 logo has appeared in an advertisement for the upcoming movie Real Steel. Jump in and the image inside. So what do you guys think? Is this some slick way that Microsoft is showing that the Xbox 720 is indeed real? All I know is that things are happening and probably real soon for that matter. Stay tuned as you can bet we follow this story real close!

There have been things like this popping up all over the place, seems like Microsoft are hinting at it.
E3 2012 can’t come fast enough.
E3 2012 will be a exiting one, with Nintendo possibly releasing there console at E3. What will Sony and MS do? software hmm maybe hardware?
A transition to new hardware I hope is on the horizon. Excitement indeed.
So basically we can expect to have life sized Rock’em Sock’em Robot tournaments next gen. Ah, I see Wolverine is an unlockable character
The 720 will be the bold return of Rare (I hope). They were instrumental with the launch of the 360 and I believe they will have strong showing with Killer Instinct 3, maybe Blast-corps and definitely some new IPs ready to go. Can’t effing wait!
Eurogamer claimed that a job posting from Rare was up and they are working on a “mature” title (possibly for MS new console.) So maybe you won’t have to wait long.
If the name of the next xbox is 720 i will kill my self, at least there was a somewhat good meaning behind the 360 number. But but 720 come on!
Is rumored to be called xbox 3
They should call it RoundBox 360.
They will never call it xBox 3, simple marketing: Playstation 4.
I think its just artistic licence as the film is set in the future.
This. This is all it is. Fictional stories and movies set in the future have done stuff like for a long time.
gotta be, im sure the real next system wouldnt use the exact same logo design with the sphere
But can it do 1080P the 720 that is.
No. Otherwise it would be called XBOX 1080. Haha!!
what!!!
you mean current xbox don’t support hd games.
just kidding
anyway I wonder what xbox 720 is capable of, I hope it would exceed the power of current PCs or at least in par.
Have fun paying for a $1500 console.
Highly doubtful seeing they will probably never implement 64bit processing on a console for at least another 5 years. Companies like to take their time somewhat with major upgrades otherwise it’s more difficult to leave headway for improvement. Unless you’re description of “current” is the top of the line apple computer, in which case console have already surpassed.
Now now, let’s not all get excited.
For one: we know there will be a sequel regardless of the name.
Secondly: We also know the Playstation 4 is in progress. Needless to say it’ll be better than the microsoft’s machine.
sony surely cant mess up this time. Actually if you think about they were never the strongest system in all three generation. The xbox360 still has a better GPU and more ram so the PS3 and its 7-8 cores mean nothing.
Eh maybe so but how come Uncharted2/3 Killzone 2/3 look better then anything on 360?It’s true the 360 has a better gpu but the cpu is lacking.Cell is a great cpu it will be used on Ps4 as well abit of a upgraded version of it.Really hate when people like you bash on a awesome console.I could say the same about the old dvd 9 drive and that Ms didn’t include a HDD in every 360 sold.Thats a big letdown for me atleast the old Xbox had a hdd built in. Ms took a few steps back this gen.Their live service might be great but thats about it.Everything Sony did on Ps3 was a upgrade every console sold has a HDD,blu ray drive,Psn is getting better.Alot of people don’t understand Sony started from scratch with Psn it’s already grown leaps and bounds in the past 6 years. Your comment about 360 has more Ram is true but very blured. Ps3 Main system ram runs at 3.2ghz while the 360 is running 700mhz.From what i read the 360 only has about 15 megs more ram then ps3 with more firmware updates comming out it will get even closer.Sony had a great run with Ps1/ps2 while Ps3 had a bumppy start now everything is great.
The exclusion of the HDD was so some people who could not afford the premium system could still game. People continue to bash MS for that, but I thank them; not all of us had enough to spend at one time, but they could get an arcade system first and then upgrade as they were able.
Hey guys, wanna know why it’s gonna be called the xbox 720? Because when you see it yo- oh you heard it already?…….ok bai.
…nah but in all seriousnessness, I think it’ll come around 2013 with the ps4 coming out the next year. Just my two yen….
This is most likely real. Anyone else remember the Resistance 3 billboard in Battle: Los Angeles; the one that most people were pondering as fake, until we saw it in the actual film. Most likely, M$, and hopefully Sony, will be unveling their new console at E3 2012. One can only hope.
I don’t really care about XBOX 720 or PS4 for what it matters. I’ve just replayed RE4 in HD and textures apart it was still more fun than some “current gen” games.
When I look at PC games screenshots I don’t see that hell of an improvement. Not a gap like between the PS3 and the PS2. Even less than between the PS2 and the PSOne. Yeah, sure. The new consoles will have high fps, no frame rate drops, standard 1080p, probably even in 3D, no tearing. Which is good. But nothing revolutionary. I am pretty sure Sony will stick with the PS3 still for quite some time as they announced since the beginning. The Wii is still selling high. Even the PS2 is still selling!
You don’t see too big of a difference because developers refuse to push higher-end PCs like they use to. Once the consoles catch up, it isn’t hard to imagine what amazing things they will do with several fold more power.
Like what? More destruction like in BF3? A couple of solar rays more? More shadowed shadows? Sure, having games playing like the new Tomb Raider trailer would be amazing. But how much would it costs?
Then I am pretty tired of this argument that developers are not pushing the high-end PCs because of consoles. They are not pushing high-end PCs because they want the games to play on middle or even low-end PCs. Let’s take a look at incoming PC exclusive, Diablo III. It looks like junk. What’s the need to spend up to $2000 for a gaming rig to play stuff like that when with $250 one can play games like Dark Souls.
You realize that the reason there isn’t a big difference between console and PC graphics is because all the developers are creating games for console and porting to the pc.
Billy323 hit the nail on the head. Just another blatant product placement from Microsofts overly aggressive and expensive marketing strategy. They do it on the Simpsons, and the most blatant example I have seen is the movie “Grandma’s Boy”. That movie was basically one long ad for Xbox. Oh well, it seems to work. Here we are talking about it on a gaming site!
Sony already said it doesn’t have plans for a PS4 that PS3 still has a lot of life left which I have to agree with, MS has made a few small hints about a next gen console and heaps of people are saying 360 has reached the end of it’s life cycle, It’ll be like when 360 & PS3 Released the first time, Xbox first, PS3 a year and a bit later.
remember the old ps2 commercials talking about the ps9, and at the very end it says “ps2 is the begening”
i actually had customers ask me about the ps9
Oh come on! Xbox 720 is quite possibly the laziest name you could think of ever, you have to call it something badass like the Xbox Revolution!– even though it means the same as 360, but still… it’s better than 720!
So if we’re to believe the stuff in movies set in the future, Jaws 19 should be out in 2015, and taco bell is destined to win the fast food franchise wars in 2032….right?
Lol obviously fake.. it’s the exact same as the 360 logo except they switched out “360″ for “720″ i’m pretty sure if it was real microsoft would take the time to redesign the logo for a new console.
wii-u? xbox720? why cant they give consoles cool names anymore?
get sega in here, they always had the most badass names. “the genesis.” “the saturn.” “the master system.” classic stuff
