If you’ve been waiting to snatch up the downloadable TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled you better act fast.
Due to an expired license, Ubisoft has announced that June 30th will be the last day for you to pick up this re-mastered classic. It appears that this “license issue” will effect both Xbox Live and PSN versions. Of course you can still enjoy this classic on the Super Nintendo.

This game was a huge disappointment for me. I stayed up till 2 am till xbl update to get it and beat it 1st play thru. The look and comedy of the 2d original was lost completely. The voices and especially the music was trash. But NOT comparing it to the original I dug the new look, the lighting, and my little nephew loved it.
Is this still playable after they take it away? My double dragon doesn’t work anymore
I felt the same way sushi, it looked great but there was just something about it that made me prefer the original or SNES version so much more. If I had to say the one thing I hated, it would be the controls – just didn’t feel right.
I was also gonna say something about Double Dragon and how that just really rubbed me the wrong way with every XBLA and PSN game after. And now we see a similar situation happening again. I did look it up though and read something about if you happened to get a new Xbox you can transfer the “license” over and DD will work, but I have to look into more, I just saw it quick. Still, what a pain in the a$$!
yea they talk about download history, but all i can do is download it and then play the trial. then when i click on unlock full version, nothing happens. at least i got all 200 achievements already.. (but any other game that’s been taken down i can still play after re-downloading from my history)
Bummer, dude!
Regardless…maybe the re-up on the license could lead to a more faithful port of the SNES (and deeply nostalgic)classic. I’ve heard poor things about this update including clumsy controls and uninspired graphics.
Not going to pick this one up…I just wish all the great Midway classic arcade titles would appear on XBLA and PSN (Smash TV, Joust, UMK3-though that one will appear in the MK Kollection)
Actually all 3 of those games you’ve mentioned have been on XBLA in the past, i’ve still got my Smash TV and U-MK3 downloads and i remember downloading the trial of Joust a few months after i got my xbox.
I’m well aware that all those titles WERE on XBLA/PSN…sadly due to the collapse of Midway, next to none of those titles remain for purchase.
If you bought them during their brief period of availability, you can still play them.
It’s just a bummer for me as I did not get a PS3 until well after most of the Midway stuff was pulled (except MKII…which was my first game played on my PS3)
mk2 on psn is extremely loud. and i always forget that before playing it. now the arcade trilogy is coming out. neat for 360 people, balls to psn users who already have mk2. (which every psn user should.. it came out when psn had nothing else)
Got it & loved it!!!!
certanly it does not feel like the original version on the arcades to me, but wasn’t bad, not perfect but it brought good memories.
I hardly play it and my only concern is if we will be able to play in online co-op from now on or just in local multiplayer??
it will suck if you can’t team up with a friend online when there is no one around to play with.
The game was a piece of flaming crap.
pure f* dog shit indeed, the original is much better
Oh the 4 people who actually enjoyed this game are going to be distraught.
@SUSHIBALLZ
MK2 on PSN sucked for me unfortunately due to Midways extremely unwise decision to be lazy and NOT include the ability to configure the pad. I’ve ALWAYS hated MK’s standard configs and always change them (Triangle as HK & ‘X’ as LP?? Please God, NO!!). I was really disappointed with this BS and have since deleted it. Thus, I hope this Trilogy of sorts adds the ‘industry standard’ button config option.
AS FOR THIS TURTLES…
(and I’m a SNES > MD fan myself).
in Time crap, this version should have been shelved before anyone even had chance to play it. They SHOULD have just HD’d the SNES original instead, although personally, I think Hyperstone Heist IS the better game of the two
