Looks nice, pic 3 and 4 has nice lighting and shadows. 39$ is cool for me and may get on day 1 if soon after then.
Did they make her boobs bigger for the ps3?
YE LOL it sems they used Tassellation on boobs
I must say it looks fantastic!
Yes they did xD
Nope, she simply decided to take off her brassiere in the PS3 version (see the 3rd screenshot for reference) after seeing the trend of nowadays games.
This doesn’t look like a simple SD-HD port like GoW collection is. By simple, I meant upping the resolution, improving framerate and eliminating screen tearing; but leaving the in game assets untouched. (I’m not complaining)
With TR, they probably did a bit more. Lighting looks revamped. Some textures may have been replaced. If so, then I might just buy these games again
TOMB RAIDER LEGEND…
was by far the best Tomb Raider yet for me, so I’m really looking forward to giving this a go. I enjoyed Anniversary too, just to a lesser extent. What does Tomb Raider Legend on the original Xbox look like compared to the HD revamp? I wonder…
What’s the 3rd game in the Trilogy then? Is it Underworld? Never fancied that entry in the series myself! I assume they’ll just put the PS3 original on the disc then, along with the 2x HD revamps?
Alright! Those two PS2 titles sure got some good HD treatments, heck, better than good (I wonder how do they compare to the Xbox 360 counterpart?)
Anyway, I just hope that they would at least try to fix Underworld’s performance (it was graphically better than its Xbox 360 counterpart with higher resolution and better shadow implementation technique but lost out in performance because of those horrible frame rate dips.)
The Trilogy is a PS3 exclusive….
The Trilogy itself is exclusive as a whole but these titles themselves aren’t, they were all previously released for the Xbox 360 quite sometimes ago.
Now how bout some 360/PS3 comparison shots?
Lens of Truth will probably do that when the game is released. Surely you can wait.
The collection isnt being released on 360, for the same reason that 360 doesnt get collection games: It has a shitty disc format. you cant fit 3+ games on a 9 GB disc. It just doesnt work. The developers see the point of releasing a collection game like this in 3 discs. Thats just stupid. PS3 gets these collection games exclusively simply because Sony thought far ahead with the Blu-ray.
Actually Dual Layer DVD isn’t exactly capable of 9GB storage (8.5-8.7GB at most), but then again, there really is only 6.8GB available on the Dual Layer DVD for Xbox 360 games, with the rest of it being reserved for a whole bunch protection codes, region locks, and whatever other stuffs that are in there (seriously, Dual Layer DVDs for PS2 games back in the days didn’t even have that 6.8GB cap size), and ironically enough they’re still not safe from the hands of pirates.
Anyway, I’m aware of the fact Tomb Raider Trilogy is a PS3 exclusive (it saddens me that you thought I wouldn’t know this by now), but Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld are all titles that have been previously released for Xbox 360 and that’s what we’re talking about here.
– Legend was released for PC, Xbox 360 and PS2 on April 11, 2006.
– Anniversary was released for PC and PS2 on June 5, 2007, the Xbox 360 didn’t come out until October 23rd of that year.
– Underworld was released for PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 18, 2008.
– They were released for other platforms too but I couldn’t be bothered to mention those.
With Legend and Anniversary now got remastered for the PS3, it’s only natural to want to see how they look compare to their Xbox 360 counterparts that have already been released. Although Crystal Dynamics’ Karl Stewart already stated that the versions included in Trilogy will be the best versions, being a curious person, I can’t help but wonder how much better than the Xbox 360 they actually are.
However, I do know that the PS3 version Underworld is graphically better, but its performance did have some hiccups here and there (hope they’ll fix those too.)
Were the XBL releases an actual HD revamp like these pics are showing? Or were they just released in HD like GoW ans Sly Collection?
The versions of Legend and Anniversary that were released for the Xbox 360 are actual HD titles originally, they weigh at 6.55GB and 3.01GB respectively (though you can argue since HD level back then isn’t really all that astonishing), the ones released for the Xbox and the one PS2 are the dumbed down versions of the HD if anything.
Oh god!! You know the world is coming to an end when developed start doing screenshot comparisons!
these games were on 360 in hd, so whats going on here? hd revamps of the ps2 versions (like gow and sly) or ports of the 360 versions?
I second this question.
Also, I agree with mess. They did more than a simple HD conversion. New/improved textures, lighting, and shadows are apparent as well.
Since you seem to have forgot about this short Q&A with Crystal Dynamics’ Karl Stewart, I’ll copy and paste it here:
“Q. Please update us about the graphics. To compare to the X360 version, it is similar, or better, worse, etc.?
A. The X360 versions of the game all looked graphically superb. The benefit of taking the time to go back and re-master and re-work all of the textures from the previous versions of Legend and Anniversary is that the technology has improved since the games were originally released. We can honestly say that visually these will be the best versions of the game.
Q. Weren’t these already in HD on the 360?
A. Yes, all three games have previously been released on the Xbox 360 in HD. This version is a vast visual improvement on anything we’ve released previously due to the opportunity to go back in and remaster each texture from Legend and Anniversary with modern tools.”
Anyway, with all those talk, I would expect them to at least look into the frame rate dips that the PS3 version of Underworld are plagued with.
From the second answer from Stewart…I am presuming that Underworld is just being re-released in the package. They’ve made no mention of any work being done to Underworld as far as I’ve seen. Pity.
