Gamespot has gotten their hands on the Xbox 360 “enhanced” version of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and have decided to compare it to the hardware-intensive PC version. Check out their results below and let us know what you think. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition will be available on the Xbox 360 April 17th.

The PC is getting the Enhanced Edition as well.
Head2Head please!!!
Looks like a pretty damn good port, and I like the alterations to art direction they’ve made at some points.
I agree Ainsley. Overall I think the Xbox version is more polished and refined in this comparison. The fact that they are able to concentrate on using the power of Xbox’s advanced GPU (console space) and not have to worry about dumbing it down so the over priced internet ready blu ray player has a chance at achieving parity, really comes through. This is a testament to the developer’s talent at getting great performance from Microsoft’s Box. Good job.
“Xbox 360 is the BEST console EVER made.” –John Carmack
Much prefer art direction of 360 version overall.
One guy is a deluded PC fanboy.
This game is progressing very nicely.
looks about on par to medium PC settings: good enough for me
WWWOOOWWW X360 beat PC…
so why we need next Xbox then…?
WOW!?
Your that blind? You honestly think you won? lets analyze the video, shall we?
:It cant do the correct tint on the screen (its suppose to be that blue huh) so instead it goes brown.
:It has less smooth animation and runs at 30fps at best, low teens at worst
:the draw distance is appaling. its not even 1/5th of the PC’s on medium. MEDIUM.
:While there is some better spots on the 360 (such as the jail cell begining. Had some better textures on the armor) you cant ignore the worst textures on everything else. The shine of the wet rocks, the fresh wounds, ect.
:The video shows how bad the AA really is on the port. In most places, theres none.
:Look at the tent scene. So far (the tent, the jail, the forest) all the 360 can do is mute colors. I dont know why, but it cant even do atmosphere colors (such as the red glow from the fires inside the tent)
:When he walks out and it does a spin of the encampment, the framerate slugs by. it cant be above 20 honestly. Then it switches to medium (MEDIUM) and the textures are crisper by far, the color is more vibrant and the draw distance is increased greatly
:Shadows are jaggy and (in the case of him fighting the straw posts) almost non existent.
So, please tell me how your system has won. It has won in 1 spot (the textures on the armor) but even thats being upgraded for free to all owners of the PC game so you lose that as well when it launches. Most of the video was rendered on “medium” graphics and at “high” graphics. It omited the maximum graphic setting for a reason (which is WIDE gap from medium and high. expectantly so with Dx11 enabled).
Best you can claim is this is a good port. The graphics are amazing for a console (and only for a console) and should open the eyes to those who think mass effect is good writing/rpging. Never again mistake that the 360 version is better.
Btw, the 720 is already all but been confirmed to be running on last years mid-low range ATI. So when the system launches next year, its already 3 years behind the PC, 5-6 if they have a top GPU. I have seen what the new consoles are going to bring, and so have most devs. Google it. Even epic games says it wont be a huge gap because of the way consoles are holding back technology.
Hue* that color hue*
Witcher 2 should still be DX 9 unless the enhanced edition patch is bumping it up to DX 11.
1. I think the xbox 360 can handle colour grading, the brown colour is most likely a change of art direction (personally I think it looks better)
2. The framerate looks pretty smooth to me, apart from some stuttering on the pan outside the tent, and animations look identical.
3. Apart from some foliage, there doesn’t seem to be any difference in the draw distance, certainly not 1/5.
4. Texture resolution tends to fall between medium and high, with relative consistency.
5. The video is horribly compressed to it’s hard to tell, but it seems to be running FXAA, doesn’t seem to be much noticeable aliasing
6. Not sure why the tent lacks the red colour
7. The textures were equal or better on the xbox 360 version vs medium settings, for example look at the mountain in the background.
8. Yeah, shadow LOD seems pretty harsh, could be worse though.
Well, heres another video with the PC vs the 360.
the PC version HAS NOT recived the new high res textures and the new content from the enhanced. Its orginal copy vs the enhanced.
PC wins. im sorry.

It amazes me how much they are able to still squeeze out of the current gen and take advantage of the fixed hardware with minimal overheads.
Seriously guys, the X360 version looks darn impressive, but technically it isn’t even up to par with medium settings. And artistically it’s a matter of tastes. I personally hope the PC enhanced edition keep the opening scene as is instead of changing it to match the xBox, although in other situations it does seem improved now.
360 wins
I prefer 360 art direction, but I’d imagine the frame rate not even close, and there will be many many changes to allow it to run as you look deeper.
Anyway, they don’t great
damn you auto correct. Should say, theyve done great
lol I thought the LoT staff got rid of this bot a long time ago. I guess it’s still just hovering around.
360 version looks fine, I’m actually impressed how well it looks. i did notice some screen-tearing, however, and the camera wasn’t moving all that smoothly in the long 360° view scene.
glad my pc runs it at ultra settings (sans ubersampling, that setting is intended for hydrogen-cooled monster-rigs or masochistic pc-gamers enjoying their games as slide shows); didn’t expect such a huge difference between med and hi settings on pc.
cdpr handled 360 skillfully, color me intrigued how well they can handle ps3 as a pc-exclusive developer should they decide to do yet another port for ps3. heck I’d re-buy it on ps3 to show my support and appreciation. the addition of trophies would be the icing on the cake.
High settings on PC easily destroy the 360 version. And that’s not even the highest it can go to. lol
360 still looks pretty nice though but some parts showed some pretty awful screen tearing (however it may be limited to cut scenes).
I mean, if you’re going to use medium settings on the PC, you might as well stick to consoles. lol
Wow people are giving you thumbs down for the obvious truth. Medium settings can run on any piece of crap and high settings are almost never the real high settings.
I think it’s not compare for technology or hardware spec.
I mean each one has different representation.
1st sequence is his dream.
PC version use blue color for emphasis it.
But XBOX360 version is so clear like real time.
I chose XBOX360 if you ask me “Which is beautiful picture?”.
But I can’t chose if you ask me “Which is wins?”.
Like or Hate is not objective view.
CD Projekt Red Studio done a really good job on xbox 360 vision
The main difference seems to be colored dream sequences and not as powerful lighting on the 360. I’m excited for the enhanced edition patch.
It seems to be that the gap from PC medium to X360 is higher than the one from X360 to PC High. Sure, PC High obviously looks crispier, but that’s all one gets. I do believe that the next could be the last generation of console. If they both go with the PC like architecture in the future Sony and MS may just end up upgrading some pieces of HW for the new model, still running exactly the same games. In other words.. the HW war is nearly over! The battle will be on the sw, i.e. the game exclusives.
Damn it really looks like crap on the 360 and still the framerate is very low!! You can see how it stutters. Maybe 20 FPS at average. But obviously the best looking game on 360 so far.
No talk bullshit fanboyola,pc fanboy.
The game runs very well, and when you’re playing you do not notice any problem.
I think the PS3 is the clear winner here.
Wow!!! CD Projekt Red Studio done a really good job on xbox 360 vision!!! I gonna buy it!!
At last I get to play a game that looks promising
