Square Enix has revealed their new Luminous Studio game engine at a private E3 presentation Tuesday evening. The engine will be used to power the next generation of Square Enix games. Inside is the tech demo, titled, “Agni’s Philosophy: Final Fantasy”, and it was made entirely using Luminous Studio.
When asked by Gamasutra when Luminous-powered games might hit the market, SquareEnix’s CTO, Yoshihisa Hashimoto, smiled and said, “It won’t be that far from now.” The demo was first revealed back in August. You can see more screenshots from the “Agni’s Philosophy” demo at the official site. Thanks to LOT member Bloodios for the tip.

Simply…gorgeous. Possibly the most intriguing concept that I have seen from Square Enix yet. In my opinion, it’s vastly more interesting than anything that they’ve offered this generation thus far. I personally think Square Enix should, or at least seriously consider transforming the concept they showed in this demo into an actual game. I mean really, it would be a seriously crime if they don’t.
This really looks amazing. But I’d say that we won’t see anything using it until nexgen.
The Xbox 360 is the BEST console EVER made. –John Carmack
Such blatancy…
Buying… You won’t see anything like that in your overpriced internet ready DVD player… You must have mist the Beyond and The Last of Us presentation at E3 Sony press conference. Have fun with your paperweight.
oh…………..my…………..god!
WOW!Look’s so beautiful
Only for next-gen……
Final Fantasy Versus XIII was announced back in 2006 and probably won’t come out till the end of gen. At the pace that Square Enix does thing, not releasing it this gen would actually be a good thing, as the game’s development probably won’t be finished until we’re already well into next-gen anyway. I can only hope that next-gen consoles are powerful enough to power it though…
My point is, it would be mind-blowing if it was for current gen consoles.
If its for next-gen…. well its not that surprising you know.
Oh, I see. In that case, I guess not… but it still looks pretty impressive though…
Here’s to hoping that we’ll see it at TGS.
Beautiful!

and now this. Impressive!
Looks good and I know it’s just a tech demo, but Muslim terrorists in a fantasy world with Brazilian style housing? That’s weird even coming from the Japanese.
Could this be what FFXV will look like. That was truly one of the most impressive tech demos I’ve ever seen. Tbh I actually cant wait til the next gen now if this is how games are going to look.
If thats how ‘next gen’ games will look, I can’t imagine the ‘gen’ after that… o_O!
HAHA YEAH. What are they going to do when we reach photo realism? where to from there????
Actually once the console will reach the level of details of CGI movies like FF VII Advent Children (in real time) I personally see no need for more realism. And to be honest, too much realism sucks.
I agree with Michelasso, we don’t play games for the realism guys.
Bu bu bu…. This doesn’t show any gameplay at all! It only looks good because of the controlled camera and lack of AI!
Yeah… you will only see comments like that regarding PS3 exclusive games.
lol Gotta love the hypocrisy of 360 nuthuggers.
you need to stop trolling your the biggest fanboy ever, this is just a tech demo and will be used in next gen. You do realise that more games will be multi format. This is not an exclusive sony engine so you can get that out your head, square enix will be producing most games on both systems and xbox won’t have the draw back of having no blue ray.
both consoles have had great games and done alot of good things for gamers, xbox has pushed online and if it was not for them sony would not be where they are right now with their online. sony push more exclusives and microsoft should start thinking about creating some new ip’s i do think thats where sony do well.
I admit i play xbox but i don’t want to see sony do badly as its the competition that moves things along and gets us gamers better quality games. This engine looks great though along with the unreal 4 engine to.
Ahhh, the irony of a fanboy calling me a fanboy.
Priceless.
Funny how almost your entire comment had NOTHING to do with the point I tried to make.
you made no point apart from the fact you were taking the piss out of people for no reason and presuming that people are going to react to your childish ways.
like i said i play xbox but ill be honest when i think someone does something good, all you do is come on here to get a reaction because you can’t see the bigger picture and get on with people who are gamers just like you.
typical attention seeker, just shows how sad you are.
Boy someone sure has their panties in a twist!
Have you forgotten all the comments made by the usual 360 fanboys regarding PS3 exclusive games and how they are not technically impressive at all? Nothing but pretty graphics but nothing that really pushes the hardware. I was simply mocking their stupidity but like I said, my entire comment flew right over your head and you did nothing but go on a crying spree like you always do whenever anybody downplays the 360 or even talks up the PS3.
My comment had NOTHING to do with me actually belittling Square Enix’s tech demo. It had NOTHING to do with smack talking either the PS3 or the 360. My comment was simply to, yes, get a butthurt reaction from known 360 nuthuggers such as yourself. Congratulations for taking the bait.
Was pretty cool till she opened her mouth.Tired do of the Jap fem noises that seem to turn so many little boys on these days.Ruined the whole feel for me.
