ZeniMax Online Studios and Bethesda will officially announce Elder Scrolls Online in May 2012, according to a source close to Tom’s Guide.
Elder Scrolls Online will take place a full millennium before The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, or for the diehard fans out there, during the “Second Era,”. According to the tipster, Elder Scrolls Online will have three playable factions represented by one of three animals: A lion, a dragon, and either a phoenix or an eagle.
When Tom’s reached out for confirmation, the response from ZeniMax and Bethesda was a “no comment.” FYI Elderscrollsonline.com has been registered by the company since 2007, so this may indeed be true. Give us your thoughts below.

God I hope not.. Not because I don’t think they could pull it off or anything I’m sure they can, and frankly that’s what I fear, they actually make an MMO that’s successful, Bethesda’s deal has always been making awesome single player RPG’s, how many of those will we see when they put all their resources in a MMO? Just see how many games Blizzard has released since WoW, MMO’s seem to be the attempt of retirement by game companies these days.
That being said the other part of me would actually love to see something like this, where I can experience all of Tamrial, and if they do make all of Tamrial the game would feel amazingly huge I think. But really Bethesda makes single player RPG’s and it’s a market they should hold on to as they are one of the best.
but will it blend ?
Bethesda.. Doing an MMO? This is more hilarious news than ME3′s Day 1 DLC. Have fun with a P2P MMO that will be buggier than Fallout 3, New Vegas and Skyrim combined!
What will be fun about an MMO where 90% of time one will swing the battle axe slicing mosquitos? No thanks, I’d stick with the much superior Dark Souls.
