According to a report from VG247, Crystal Dynamics is working on a reboot of Soul Reaver.
Details are scarce, but VG247′s source claims the game is a full reworking of the vampire action classic, and includes a new art direction.
That’s pretty much it. The site continues by saying it’s unclear where the new game will lie in the IP, and whether or not Raziel or Kain will lead. The site has reached out to Square Enix for comment, but has yet to receive a reply.
We must say, we would be completely happy with a HD updated version of the original, The Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen, one of the finest games ever to grace the PlayStation One. We’ll let you know when and if more details are revealed.

The original Soul Reaver was Awesome. Fond memoeries of many an all night gaming session with that game.
Vae Victis! I would LOVE to play another Legacy of Kain game. Great series. Too bad we won’t get to see Kain bring balance to Nosgoth with the ‘third option’. But I’m up for a reboot.
Loved legacy of kain soul reaver! Hopefully this one is as good as the original.
Lens of Truth. It’s Blood Omen Legacy of Kain, Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver, Blood Omen 2, Soul Reaver 2, and Legacy of Kain Defiance. The naming was very inconsistent for the series. One thing is that Blood Omen Legacy of Kain sounds good, but the rest of the series in front of the Legacy of Kain title would sound kind of bleh.
I’d rather see a reboot of Blood Omen since Crystal Dynamics didn’t do the first game. Legacy of Kain is an amazing series, Blood Omen being my favorite.
One thing that I’ve always hoped that wouldn’t happen is that we see a reboot to the series. Now it’s unfortunate, but the voice for the Elder God, Tony Jay, is dead, so someone else would have to do the voice acting, but there’s no closure to the original Legacy of Kain storyline. The story ends with Raziel returning to the Soul Reaver and no one knows what happens after that.
Blood Omen is a better game, but the storyline to the series is absolutely amazing. You really need to play through the games before you attempt to comprehend the storyline though or you’ll be confused as hell.
Legacy of Kain soul reaver is my favourite game of all time. even better that OOT and FF7.
I logged in just to comment lol. Will it be multiplat? theres no way in hell i aint using a PS controller. it will make me cry playing a reboot of the series. i just wished they had a hd pack with some of the originals, or did a full facelift on soul reaver (including gameplay).
I have actually never heared of this game. But it sounds interesting.. I’ll look into it.
if u have never played blood omen r soul reaver ur missing out hardcore missing out i bought my ps2 just for soul reaver 2
in soul reaver u play as a undead in blood omen u play as kain a vampire lord if ur first experience with legacy of kain is soul reaver just remember the universe evolves around kain hes the main character even though the soul reaver games trick u to think otherwise
last note is i would of rather seen blood omen 3 2 have closer
When I bought (LoK) Soul River I have been simply amazed. One of the best games ever for Playstation!! A reboot with Raziel the leading man (or ghost? :p) would be amazing.
Soul Reaver is the shit! Hopefully it comes on Vita so I can play the hell outta it on the go.
