PS3 and PSP gamers currently have the option of downloading and activating titles on five systems. On November 18th, that number will change.
Sony has announced today that they will be reducing the activation count from five systems to two. The start date for the change will be November 18th during PlayStation Network maintenance. Any game purchased after November 18th can be activated and played on only two systems. However, any game purchased before the 18th will continue to have the five system count, andriasang reports.
Sony’s reason for the change is out of consideration of balance between consumer convenience and content creator copyright protection.

Ah, Sony. You buy a product and then they steal from you. First – other OS option, now this… And people are good with it?? Seriously? So you buy a car from Ford, after two months representitives come at your door and take away passenger’s air bag. Yeah you never used it like other OS option, but you would let them? Sony fanboys are MORONS. Worse – this effects me, companies see that it’s okay to take away stuff that you buy because idiotic PS3 fanbois take it up the ass like pros and sooner or later they will try to steal my stuff.
Thank you PS3 owners, thank you!
Lol! You lost your point there. XD
You asshole, do you think we like this stuff?
Deviltry”why do you even open your mouth?because all that came out of there was shit!so unless you have something worth saying please be quiet.
Doesn’t bother me. I only have 2 PS3s so that’s fine. I think people should buy their own stuff anyway!
It’s to reduce game-sharing, which makes sense since they’re not making money off of those people who are just leeching off other accounts.
dude if your like me ive had my ps3 break b4 and guess what it you dont have it serviced thru sony they will not deactivate your broken one well guess wat after nov 18th your fucked and when this happened to me i didnt even kno there was activation deactivation on the system so honestly this is a very low blow to all of us more for people who dont use sony’s repair thing and im def one who doesnt because of all the wait times. im down to my last activation on my main account and pretty much if this one breaks and i cant deactivate it i have to shell out 150 bucks to fix the damn thing not cool
Don’t be silly… why would a PS3 break?
AFAIK you’ll be able to manage PSN activations through PS website, which means you won’t lose your activation when your console gets broken.
I support Sony – in Central/Eastern Europe (where I live) practice of 5 ppl buying sth from PSN is all too common. Sony is a company like any other and they lose money from it, like it or not.
I hope you read this because i think you really need it. Whats not said on this artcile here but reported everywhere else is activation and deactivation can now be done using a PC remotely via accounts management. You won’t your PS3 or PSP working or connected to
deactivate anymore.
Hope this helps.
This is due to this fiscal year’s poor benefits.
A lot of ppl are buying content collectivelly.
I knew this would come
I allways thought letting people share content was a strange buisness idea, not that i’m moaning. But obviously it’s not working. Can they not just limit the use to the account that purchased it and let the purchaser downlaod it as much as they want, like how it works on the xbox. Seems fair to me.
Uhh.. you CAN download it as many times as you want. It’s just that you can now only download purchased content as many times as you want on two different systems only.
Actually theres no limit on downloads. The limit is the number of PS3s or PSP you have a unlimited download on. Because each one of those PS3s and PSPs can play the game downloads at the same time having only pay once.
I think i may have worded my comment wrong, because both of you missed my point completely. I wasn’t talking about download limits. I was talking about limiting all content to the account that purchased it. Then, like with the xbox, that account can be tranfered to any console, along with all game licences. But can only be active on one console at a time.
This only apply to Digital Delviery Contents, PSN games, not to phyisical media (the most important ones).
They are going to take out Blue-Ray playback next… I hope not but its getting close.
Sony has been bleeding money for years they cant keep this shit up and expext money to magically rise. Just go look at their stocks since the launch of the PS3… Its fucking horable.

oh,that’s s*cks
not that i have so many systems but it was nice to have the option…
@LoT Staff (Shawn probably)
i’ve sent you some messages about two games that i purchased from your store (back in June) but you haven’t respond to any of them yet…
Well I go from being a multiple PS3 household to a couple lying around. At least my TB HDD Upgrade is nice. All the more reason for that Super Duper Stompin PC
OK’This is a bit of a bummer as i have all 5 ps3′s active,What im doing is shareing with friends as they have my account on there ps3′s,Does this mean that 3 of my friends will have to go from my account and i must pick 1 friend to stay?
