Dust 514 is First Person Shooter coming to the PS3 in early 2012. The game is created by Icelandic developer CCP, and will be integrated with nearly every aspect of their long running PC MMO, EVE Online. Below is the debut trailer from the game, as well as a few details from CCP community manager James Egan.
“’Persistence’ is the key word here,” CCP community manager James Egan told the US PlayStation Blog, explaining, “The world of Dust 514 doesn’t spawn when you fire up your PlayStation 3 — it’s always there and always being experienced and influenced by other players in the EVE universe. When you take part in events in the EVE universe through combat in Dust 514, you’re taking part in something greater than your own individual experience of that world.”
“Your actions have significance. The EVE universe is made up of thousands of solar systems, each with a number of planets within those systems. Those same planets seen in EVE Online, where the MMO players create various planetary structures and colonies, are the potential battlegrounds of Dust 514,” he added.

Hmmm… Meh… Looks much like Halo…
This is so much more than just another FPS. This links heavily with the EVE Online game. Probably associating the gamer with a corp or alliance you work together in space and planetary battles to control your part of the universe.
As an ex-EVE Online player I find this quite exciting.
PS3 needed a Halo game .
just like the 360 needs a killzone game.
we done, or should we continue thiz round of stupid shit.
look like a halo version ported from gamecube.
If this was ported from Gamecube, then the real Halo was ported from a Playstation 1. This is obviously much larger in scale, and has much better graphics to boot.
I’m a huge Playstation fan, but I’ll be honest… This game looks like shit.
If anyones played EVE online they’d know how bad ass this trailer really is. I’ll admit, EVE is a snore fest but the scale that tthis trailer depicts is……. I can’t even describe how massive this project is. I just hope they put some fun into the project.
the game is barely in alpha stage by the looks of it so no need to bring it down yet. I still dont have much hope for this game. Starhawk on the other hand… wow!!!
I think its hard to explain the scale of this to a non EVE player.
You will be helping corps and alliances takeover or defend planetry systems.
Its not a multiplayer map with the only purpose is to get the highest kills or capture more flags. You will be fighting for your survival. Its not a case of “I think I will log on and have a few rounds” its a case of “I have to log on because those b******s are attacking our property.”
Combine these ground battles with space battles and you have one hell of a universe.
Let me give you an idea how you can influence this game. Throughout the trailer you see the costs of ground units.
Heavy Attack Vehicle 1,400,000 isk
Installation Compoint 1,000,000 isk
Mobile command centre 120,000,000 isk.
The ship which is blown up at the end by the ground canon, I used to own one of these in game. It cost me 1,200,000,000 isk to buy, another 800,000,000 isk to kit out. This took me one and a half years of saving up and 3 years of training skills to fly.
The FPS team have the ability to turn a battle on is head. Imagine a small FPS team taking over a planetry base and using the enemies canon in itself.
This game is far far beyond what you get with a realistic looking FPS. Its a FPS which has an ongoing purpose.
It may make me start playing eve again lol
sounds interesting, but does it really take so long to earn funds?
Im presuming he means game years here, as otherwise it would be extremely dull game.
Ermm, no realy years.
I played EVE Online for nearly 5 years. It takes years of skill training to be good a flying a dreadnaught.
If the funds are transferable between the space game and the FPS, Im pretty sure that if you are helping a corp/alliance in their quest to take over a system, they will throw ISK at you.
well, we’re going to be mercenaries from previous given info so we get isk regardless :X
thats the worst game exclusive for ps3 ive ever seen!!
a halo wanna be!!
stupidity at it’s finest here, ladies and gents. lets watch as this overflowing spring of retardation pours on in.
so far we have 3.
the people comparing this to halo are completely missing the point.
this is linking two games of completely different genre’s into the SAME GAME UNIVERSE where THE ACTIONS OF EACH GAME AFFECT THE GAME’S UNIVERSE IN AN ONGOING PERSISTENT WORLD.
Remember how the warcraft games used to be tactical rgp’s where you controlled hundreds of units and built shit using the surrounding resources, like trees and shit? Well imagine blizzard releasing warcraft 4, except warcraft 4 takes place on the freaking world of warcraft servers, and directly interfaces and affects that game. Imagine a player controlling hundreds of units on his own tactical rpg style putting a raid on your home city, chopping down the god damned trees around stormind and using them to build seige engines and forts right outside the god damned city getting ready to raize the place to the ground, or take it over completely. All of this being done by someone playing a completely different genre of game, but AFFECTING THE WORLD YOUR CHARACTER IS IN.
Now that’s not exactly how this and eve will work, but I just wanted to give you an idea of what they seem to be shooting for. this is much bigger than just trying to be halo folks. MMO universes are VASTLY larger than non MMO games, and this little shooter will be a part of EVE’s.
impressive concept, and for very early footage, quite impressive looking for a game of this nature.
Cant say im remotely interested, as it would require far too much time invested in it , but impressive sounding nonetheless

Am I looking at this trailer wrong? This looks good/alright to me. O .O
Dunno what to say about that gun model though..
“look like a halo version ported from gamecube.” – That was just a dumbass comment. xD
I can’t say I’m terribly excited for this game, but that could change in the months to come and I’m certainly intrigued by this EVE integration.
why are the pc players so pissed? seriously, this is just eve for console. it’s nothing extremely different beside it being an FPS… not only that, they’re already playing eve…
It looks nothing likw halo that is a stupid comparison.
