MY BODY IS READY
Damn that’s a good sounding system! My body is also ready.
LOL PS3RON, Mine too… Just look at my boobs, they been screaming for this!
Thats gunna be expensive as shit.
memory is the only part that seems really low, and thats been one of the major concerns for current gen devs
Consoles don´t need so much RAM. Cause they don´t need a Blue Scre… I mean Windows.
A lot of developers have stated that RAM has been a bottleneck for them as the current gen is progressing. 512MB is how much the 360 has currently. With the other (better) specs listed here, it seems very unbalanced compared to the other components.
Its XDR2, which means its twice as fast as the XDR RAM the PS3 uses. So basically twice the PS3′s RAM at twice the clock speed.
In theory it’d be much faster than the 360′s RAM. And let’s not forget the 1GB of video RAM.
I am not sure if you understand the amount of memory in the new Nintendo system
512MB of main ram and 1GB of “Dedicated” Video Ram. The Xbox 360 and PS3 both only have a total of 512MB of ram. The Xbox uses unified memory that shares the 512MB between System/Video and the PS3 uses two different types of ram 256MB system 256 Video. Hence the bottleneck. Since a console is not a PC, it doesn’t have to manage a ton of additional processes. The biggest improvement is the fact that there is 1GB of video ram, which is significantly greater than either the Xbox 360 or PS3.
Hummm… looks like a Ferrari with the handbrake pulled up.
Backward compatiblity to Wii and Gamecube!!! And Hardware Specs like a High End PC. My body is ready too. Give it to me. ^^
The specs are impressive, but how much is this going to cost? And what games will it have?
Exactly my thought, price?
Not really sure what some people whinging about here , it’s got a gig of dedicated video ram plus another half gig for processor , and 16mb edram, which should allow for 1080p images with various shader effects , high level aa etc for free with no hit on performance, allowing the video ram to be used elsewhere. That’s a pretty impressive piece of kit IMO . Wipes floor with current gen of consoles
“Wipes floor with current gen of consoles”
Well, this is for sure.
There is no need for scientists to realize that this machine will kick both XBox 360 and PS3 asses.
Problem is that after not many months it’ll have to deal with the new XBox, and I can tell you that this new Nintendo machine is already old.
You think so Mauro? Besides the meager RAM the rest of the specs seems fine. Guess Nintendô partnered with AMD again to ensure BC with GCN and Wii games. Dunno how well the R700 will fare against Sony’s and MS’s new GPU’s but it’ll be competitive for a couple of years at least.
@squarez
I’d be shocked were Nintendô not able to develop a console that wipes the floor with 5 and 6 years old hardware ^^
I know it isn’t running windows, but it definatley needs more system ram. 512 is already an issue with the current gen. At least the next Sony and Microsoft consoles are in the planning stages, can’t wait to see what they are capable of.
it has 3 times more ram than the current console generation …512 system and 1024 video . That is 1536 total( 3x the ps3 and xbox 360 ) They have 512 ram total .
I still don’t think that’s enough RAM for a next gen console though. Hopefully PS4/Xbox 720 will have at least 4GB of RAM. 8GB of RAM would just be amazing, but it would probably raise the price of the consoles too much.
You can get DDR3 RAM relatively cheap nowadays. And Nintendo hasn’t really been at the forefront of graphics technology, they’ve always been about the local experience. Since modern technology is so ridiculously cheap they can get away with doing HD hardware now.
Ah, I think MS and Sony can wait a couple more years. That way, they’ll be able to develop a console that’ll blow away the Wii 2.
If this spec is final, then Wii2 will drag both Sony and MS into the next gen whether they like it or not.
Well, you could have said the same about the Dreamcast, but even with (back then) a huge generation leap, you still couldn’t drag the Sony fanboys away from their PS1, MGS, GT2, Tekken etc.
Power doesn’t mean everything. Ask SEGA about 10yrs ago. DC was pretty much STILL up to spec with todays Wii, and Sony wiped the floor with them, all built on the back of new found brand loyalty (Sony) and crazy (unfounded!) promises re: PS2 and Emotion Engine.
What can I say? It’s happened before…
Sega’s problem wasn’t that they didn’t have enough crazy fanboy following, on the contrary, the Sega brand was well known and the Dreamcast launch was a huge success! prior to PS2 launch, which was selling comparatively slow. (PS3 sold faster on launch than PS2 did)
The problem was that Sega announced too early that they will stop support for Dreamcast, which had just been out. It was a self sabotage on their part.
I just wish this gen will last a bit longer.
that cpu is about as powerful as the cell but that gpu is about 3x more powerful than 360s or ps3s gpu and 3x the ram its a beast compared to the current consoles but current pc video cards alone are pushing 3000-5000 gflops single precision, ive got a feeling this console is gonna have a hard time pushing at least 1080p.
sony and microsoft would be fools not to make something 2 or 3 times as powerful as this, at least 3 gigs of ram and a gpu that is pushing at least 3000 gflops anything less is just going to get outdated to fast.
i mean i dont really care cause i dont mind updating my pc , currently playing witcher 2 maxed out but i also love the content consoles have and it would be a shame to see another generation struggling with 1080p at least right?
Oh, I completely agree with you. If next gen consoles struggle to do native 1080p then why would anyone want to even upgrade from the current consoles. I’m expecting a big leap when the PS4/Xbox 720 come out. 1080p @ 60FPS would be a dream come true for most of the games, but 30FPS is understandable for some of those really demanding games.
Holy damn, that’s some pretty impressive specs.
Looks fake to me, system like that would smoke PS360. Rumors from 01.net (french site that revealed NGP specs), Game Informer and Digital Foundry were saying that console is on par or slighty better than 360. IGN was wrong about 3DS specs, so they aren’t very credible.
If this is the truth then I’m deleting my account
Oh my Holly Molly, 512 system and 1024 video, that’s would be a good specification, But know guys , I’d really like to see the next gen console game could upgradeable, for example the video card which gives you a choose of upgrading the ram, if it comes with 4GB you can upgrade it to 8 and so. but I don’t it this can be done, because all the video cards in PC has a fixed ram, and if you want to add another extra capacity it means you have to add another video card. Do you guys know what am talking about?
That looks like one hell of a machine to run Mario on
This would have been weak years ago, it’s beyond pathetic now. I find it hilarious some of you think this is impressive.
I was thinking the same thing, lol. These specs look good if you compare them to the 360 and the ps3 but considering whats out there right now on pc this is a joke. Even an entry level pc is pushing more power then this.
Instead of Wii 2. Project Cafe’s official name will be Wii Wii.
My vote is that this is fake as well, but I replied to your post Kupomogli specifically.
I have a HUGE premonition that the name of the console will be WII, with the “i’s” in the name being capital letters, which makes them the roman numeral for “2″. The “w” in this case may become lower case.
so maybe this: wII
If this is true, the Wii 2 will be a monster. They will still need a few really really good third party exclusives to battle the other two systems.
if those specs r real, then good luck Nintendo! and surely Nintendo will beat ps3 and xbox 360
Great nintendo hast started something big so the wii 2 will be for 6 or 5 years on the market like the ps3 & xbox now
Just as long as they don’t call it the Wii 2 and it looks like the redesign of the old NES or SNES I’ve seen on ign.com I’ll be happy. ^^
Definitely fake.
This is some fanboy’s hope for the wii 2 with this made up list.
This is nintendo we’re talking about, it’ll be nowhere near that powerful lol.
you dont remember the gamecube do you? that thing had some incredible looking games…..oh wait its android NVM
agree in that, GCN was way more powerful than it’s competitors, as was the 64
Android just needs his daily dose of attention ^^
I would buy – if it had a real controller and something besides Mario and Zelda to play!
Nintendo needs to show some love to the people that grew up playing it’s consoles. Some mature games?!?!
Suda 51 has already stated that he’d love to make a No More Heroes 3 for Wii’s successor. It might be time for him to show what he can do on Cafe.
Sweet.
Freak the Ps3 & 360 as project cafe is official microsoft & sony can kiss my @$$. I’m trading-in all of my garbage and will be getting a real system. Nintendo Wii was just a childrens toy and not a real console. but this system Will be the best out of all the consoles. I can’t freaking wait for E3
Ughh I have no money but really want this
my ps3 has aged enough and none of my friends have a good pc. I just hope games like cod and battlefield 3 can come to the wii 2. The specs btw are pretty good but no dx11 is a pity.
Oh HELL NO !!! No Call of Duty for the next Nintendo console please. If that happens I won’t be getting it right a way then.
They chose the RV770 GPU to keep the console backwards compatible, right? Otherwise, an Evergreen or NI GPU would be a much better choice, better efficiency and so. But still, the 4800 series offer very good performance to this day. I hope this GPU is somewhere in between a 4870 and a 4890, I bet developers would easily reach over 30fps at 1080p with some AA, if not 60fps. Now, if that is for the next Nintendo, just imagine what Sony or Microsoft will do in a couple years.
