Official details on SuperBot Entertainment’s just announced Super Smash Bros. style fighter, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, are now starting to trickle in.
The details come from Omar Kendall, Game Director at SuperBot Entertainment. Kendall says the idea of a PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale existed in the hearts of gamers way before his team at SuperBot got around to making it. He says the game is a labor of love driven by the expectations of the fans.

So what’s the game focus? Kendall says “cool game modes for both single and multiplayer, with a focus on online play which features a robust tournament mode. Players will be able to compete against each other as well as play cooperatively”. First and foremost however, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is “a celebration of a storied history of great characters and rich worlds brought together in one game.”

So far we only know of six confirmed characters: Kratos, Sweet Tooth, Sly Cooper, Parappa the Rappa, Fat Princess and Radec — but many, many more are sure to be revealed in the coming months. The final fighting roster will be a mix of Sony and third-party characters.
As for some of the unique stages we know of, a Ratchet and Clank-themed Metropolis, Sandover Village (the 19th hole of Everybody’s Golf), a God of War boss themed underworld featuring Hades and a Little Big Planet stage that builds itself — are just a few shown off in the trailer.Until more info is revealed, enjoy the media.

Fun? Not sure, but personally I find it as unappealing and mediocre as the Super Smash Bros. series. But hey, different people like different things, I’m sure there is someone in this world who would think of this game as a masterpiece…
There are actual gamers who liked Smash Bros. Who are very interested in this you know. It seems you’re a one person shooter gamer. Smash Brothers mediocre??!! is the only reason to own a Wii, playing that game with a lot of friends and a lot of beers is fun non-stop, and imagine playing it with 6 ppl at a time instead 4, sure it won’t be a graphics or story masterpiece game, but fun, of course it will, at least more that Tekken vs Street Fighter, Street Fighter, Marvel Vs Capcom, Capcom Vs, etc, all that boring repetitive pile of crap
@SOLIDOOD
Yeah, even though I agree with your comment for the most part(I prefer fighters like Tekken, Street Fighter), I must say that Smash Bros is a party game and not really a fighting game in a traditional sense.
If anyone is playing this type of game alone or for the single player experience they will most likely be disappointed. With 3+ friends/players and some drinks, these games can be a blast though.
@Solidood
So just because I don’t like this type of game, that makes me a shooter junkie? Hilarious!
By the way, you say it as if I actually think that’s no one plays games like the “Super Smash Bros.” series. You actually think I wasn’t aware of how successful the franchise is?
All I did was expressing my personal opinion of the game. I’ve stated that different people like different things, and my taste just happened to differ from yours and those who find these kind of games interesting.
Good luck trying to stereotype me just because I don’t find one of your kind of games interesting.
SSB is one of the greatest series ever created, and a SSB style game featuring all the major Sony characters is practically a dream come true. This game is going to be awesome. Haters gonna hate.
It would be very fitting if SuperBot were to include some characters from the Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy series. Those series’ need to be represented as they’ve played a big part in the Playstation brands success.
As one of the few people who did 99 live matches on SSB:M with two other people which were 8 hour long battles, I can gladly say this is a complete clone of SSB. Does that bother me? Hell NO! I will buy this game day 1.
I don’t get why people dislike the Super Smash Bros. series. The game is actually pretty fun once you play it through online (Without some lag of course), and with friends. In my personal opinion, this will get a lot sales due to the popularity of Nintendo’s SSB series. It has the exact same fighting system, but with different stages, characters and company.
To put it simple, I love Super Smash Bros. and I think I will love this game too. I have to be honest about something here though, I think some people who doesn’t like SSB really never played it before, is either a major fanboy of Sony/Microsoft and never liked Nintendo, or they get their ass handed to them numerous times on SSB, ragequitted and complain.
i think that this is gonna be a Super Smash Bros clone but its not bad because is a winner formula. that is true. I hope for the players the experience in this title may be like SSB because you will have unlimited hours for fun.
