Animal rights group PETA claims Mario promotes skinning of animals with his Tanooki Suit. Here are a few quotes that speak out against Nintendo’s legendary trademark plumber straight from their website.
“When on a mission to rescue the princess, Mario has been known to use any means necessary to defeat his enemy—even wearing the skin of a raccoon dog to give him special powers. Tanooki may be just a ‘suit’ in Mario games, but in real life, tanuki are raccoon dogs who are skinned alive for their fur.”
“By wearing Tanooki, Mario is sending the message that it’s OK to wear fur. Play Super Tanooki Skin 2D and help Tanooki reclaim his fur!”
To us, this seems to be a bit silly to say the least. I mean of all of the problems in the world that they could address, why bother with a fictional game character that has been harmless to their cause for well over a decade? Are they hurting for publicity so bad that they actually have to make ridiculous spins on such pointless topics just to get attention?
Is it a valid complaint? What are your thoughts?

Unfortunately, PETA is an crazed hypocritical organization that is followed by even more crazed and mentally handicapped supporters. They all live in this fiction realm where they see everything as a child’s story book, where everything is fluffy wuffy and all the adorible little critters live safely and peacefully side by side… Uncfortunately, in what normal people like to call the “realm of reality”, nature is real evil mother f*cker, and things like survival of the fittest and natural selection take no prisoners. PETA bitches if they see a spider eat a cricket. They think millions of years of evolution can be changed in a heartbeat.
My point? Never pay attention or be bothered by what these a$$holes have to say, even if something as ridiculous as this. They’ve got some serious psychological issues, and they’ll never change. I have nothing more to say besides go to hell, PETA.
I love animals and feel strongly against animal cruelty, but PETA are strictly delusional.
The Tanooki suit’s been around a couple of years and their flash-game is disgusting. In PETA’s hypocritical opinion it’s fine for animals to kill humans (or Italian plumbers).
If that’s how they’re spending their donation money (i.e. anti-gaming campaigns to desperately attract attention), I know which organization to avoid in the next 80 years.

you know i love animals, have a few pets myself, im also very against animal cruelty, and feel people who do it deserve to be thrown to the dogs for food.

cant edit so ill reply, the video they show is horrible, the way those people treat those things is horrible, its an atrocity to man kind. they beat them with pipes to kill them, how can man kind be so cruel to something that cant defend its self, honestly the things man does to animals is horrible.
i understand hunting for food but hunting for pelts is wrong, but mario doesnt mean anything by it, and PETA would actually mean something if they let off all this game crap.
taking a life of anything be it a animal or a human shouldnt be easy, it should only be done when needed, and if your going to do it it should be done swiftly, not like they do those dog raccoons

PETA has to be just about the worst charity on the face of the planet. If they spent even a fraction of their marketing budget on actually saving animals instead of nonsense like this they might not have to put down more than 90% of the animals they take into their “shelter” like they do currently.
