Sony has announced that firmware update 4.11 is now available for download on your PlayStation 3 via PSN (still not the SEN). The update is optional. Below is the official post from Sony:
“Later tonight we’ll be releasing an optional system software update (v4.11) for PlayStation 3. This minor firmware improves certain aspects of system software, and is not mandatory to connect to PSN.
Again, this update is optional in the US and Canada, and can be downloaded by selecting System Update from the Setting column of the XMB.”
Sony says optional however, Analog Hype is reporting “the update is only optional if you live in the US or Canada, PS3 users elsewhere are required to download firmware 4.11 if they wish to access the PlayStation Network”. Interesting. We’ll let you know if more details on this update are are revealed.

Never really had any problems with the PS3 so I guess I wont need to download this update. Then again Sony know how to actually creat and run a system unlike M$ who are constantly releasing updates to fix their $hit console and dont even get me started on kidtendo. They dont know the meaning of update.

I started playing Twisted Metal and I had two PS3 updates and a game update.
What gives?
a system update released 4.00 like last week, this one is optional for the ps3 user’s in american and canada, why are you complaining? also a game update has nothing to do with the system. please think before you post about a topic you are completely unaware of. thank you
