Sources say that the new PS Vita will offer full backwards compatibility with the PlayStation Network’s library of PSP games. Below is that article from eurogamer.net
Sony’s PS Vita will offer full backwards compatibility with the PlayStation Network’s library of PSP games, and will offer an optimized experience for each one. PSP games played with the PS Vita will be smoothed and upscaled, and the PS Vita’s dual analogue sticks will also be supported. Sony Bend’s Resistance Retribution has been demonstrated working on the PS Vita, with the second analogue stick now being used to move the character’s view in the third person shooter. PSP games are run via a software emulator within the PS Vita, and the upscaling can be toggled on and off by the player. The PSP backwards compatibility seems to mirror the efforts of the PSP Remaster Series, which allow optimized versions of PSP games to run on the PS3.

I really hope this thing will be able to play PS2 games. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be able to considering they say it’s almost as powerful as the PS3.
How would it play the disc though ?
They put the games on playstation network as downloadable just like they do with PS1 games on the psp.
The only thing I’m worried about is the size of the games because some PS2 games can take a whole DVD9.
So now all of my PSP games can be played with a second analog stick controlling the camera? This might already be a buy…Just need to see the starting lineup of games for the system, and ding.
Thats great, but I really don’t like this name. Damm, since Wii I don’t get so disapointed by a console name.
At least still a ps brand portable. I’ll just call it PSP2 anyway..
i thought everybody forgot about psvita name since the wii u was announced lol
