At a price of 1600 MS Points ($20), the Xbox 360 version of the sandbox-building game Minecraft has sold over 1 million digital copies in five days, making it the fastest selling Xbox Live Arcade game of all time.
Creator Markus ‘Notch’ Persson has noted that the 360 edition of Minecraft was “profitable in an hour” after the its release. The record was previously held by RedLynx’s 2.5D racer Trials Evolution, which Gamasutra reports sold over 100,000 copies in a single day. Trials was just recently released (April 18th) adding two quality titles to Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade library.
Games like Minecraft, Trials, and the PSN’s Journey are just a few of the more recent downloadable gems to come along — and all of ‘em cost no more then $20.00. Sadly (in a cheering for the little guy way) even with Minecraft’s success, it was the number three most played game this week on Xbox Live behind, you guessed it, Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops (you did guess it didn’t you?).

I didn’t really like Journey. I failed to see what all the hype was about to be honest. It was ok, but I was expecting my mind to be blown. And blown it was not.
Same here, was like shadow of the colossus, but without colossus, only hunting lizards :/
I feel there was a missed opportunity for the two players to power each other up for certain trials. It didn’t matter whether your partner was a 5 year old or a pro gamer. Also that sonar thing, I would have liked to have more than one type of sound so you could at least communicate in a simple yes or no manner.
Great game
this game was worth its money , play the hell out of it
the best thing is that the game version is 1.6.6 so the good old minecraft feeling comes up
Bought minecraft last year on PC but never really got into but I definetly understood the appeal of it all. Glad to see this version a success. Even though teh game wasn’t for me I still believe it to be a good game and I’m glad when a good game is a success.
