Lost Planet 3 has been revealed through its leaked debut trailer. The series will be getting a new developer this time around with Spark Unlimited at the helm. Spark is responsible for Legendary: The Box and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. LP3 will be released sometime in 2013 on PS3 and Xbox 360. Trailer below.

Oh wow. both of those games where horrid mess’s. Gameplay was trash beyond trash, glitches that should have never made it past alpha, plots written by 10yo’s….
They should fit in nicely with the new capcom.
So… since Spark Unlimited is the developer, the Unreal Engine 3 will be used instead of the MT Framework right? But I guess it doesn’t really matter, since it’ll probably be another shoddy port for the PS3 anyway.
Except That Lost Planet 2 looked Miles ahead of the 360 Version its just that it had More Screen Tearing
If only what you said wasn’t completely fictional…
The reality is that Lost Planet 2 looks almost identical across both console platforms, with the differences being that the Xbox 360 version has 2xMSAA while the PS3 version doesn’t have any. Also, the Xbox 360 version is double-buffered with soft V-sync, while the PS3 is triple-buffered with V-sync enabled throughout the game. So the Xbox 360 version is the only one that experiences screen-tearing while the PS3 version is completely tear-free (at the expense of having the frame rate frequently dipping below 30.)
I’ve played Lost planet 2 on the PS3 and while it may be tear free, it’s performance is pretty lackluster. While they look very similar to each other, the fps drops so dreadfully low sometimes on the PS3 that it becomes annoying. Try some of the desert maps in the campaign or play online and you’ll see exactly what I mean. Most of the time it’s fine, but some maps makes me believe Capcom didn’t properly test it on the PS3. I’m perfectly fine with dialed back particle effects if it mean better fps.
Why Spark!? why UE3?! MT Frameworks is better and id rather wait another 2 years than Get a Toned Down Game Developed by a Horrible Developer
I’m actually pretty excited about this, notwithstanding the pessimistic comments. I’m going to relive the LP2 days tomorrow on my PS3 when I get home. The game looks pretty good. I don’t know how I feel about the move to single player, but at the same token games like Skyrim have done exceptionally well as a single player campaign. Not saying this game is on par with Skyrim but it should be fun to see how this will fare in the long run. About the change to UE3, I’m pretty skeptical. MTF looked good on LP2, so I don’t really know how this game will play on a new engine. Maybe it will look like Gears? I don’t know. All I know is that I’m excited about the story. Been a longtime fan of Capcom games.
i liked both games. sure 2 wasnt as good or different than 1, but its a damn video game, its not sold inside part one, its its own game. it has every right to be different. i thought it was fine.
