Sony has announced today that on Tuesday, February 28th, they will be giving away the multiplayer portion of Killzone 3 for FREE. That’s right folks, anyone with an Internet connection and a PSN account will be able to sample Killzone 3 multiplayer across all of its maps… up to a certain level cap.
According to the latest episode of the PlayStation Blogcast [via Game Trailers], the reason for giving away the game’s multiplayer with all of its maps for free is to keep the mode “active”. However you won’t have FULL access to the mode; There will be some sort of limitation on what rank players can achieve in free-to-play mode and a limit on the number of skills and unlockable weapons that come with those higher rankings.
The full uncapped version of Killzone 3 multiplayer will be available for $14.99. We’ll let you know more when we find out.

wonder if I download the free copy if it would give me the full game since I already own this. I would rather run the game off of my hard drive personally.
It’s only the multiplayer. Not the campaign.
I know it’s only the MP that’s what i’m referring to, I could care less about the campaign of the game.
I wonder if they’re possibly providing some type of incentive for those that already bought the game and the DLC other than owning the game earlier than the freebies. I don’t have any of the DLC but I would be pissed if I found out it was going to be free then heavily discounted.
From what I have read on the KZ boards is that the free version comes with all DLC.

Arbitor you shouldnt be the arbitor from gs right that needed to make a run for it ? , anyway only reasons i have read of and can think of is that kz community is/have gotten alot lower than expected, i really cant see hows that should make psn better when its the community that have run low ? :S thats a facepalm arbitor..

not sure if you’ve actually played KZ3 online recently. I mean, I wont make the assumption that you are talking out of your *** right now. but, if you actually get on KZ3′s online at any point in the day you can easily get in a game in any mode. the community is far from dead. just because a game doesnt have “call of duty” numbers, that doesnt mean that the community is dead.
Ehm, i never said it was dead at all. read next time please or dont reply anyway its nothing about that “you cant join” or “no players at all”, its only that the community has been lower lately or that they just are nice, which wouldnt make any sense for those who have bought the game like me, im rather upset that i paid full price – if i knew this i would just have waited for it to go “free” but dunno why you are defending it like that, and come up with xbox in the first place.. Its awesome nontheless..

LOL @permafrost you could care less about the campaign… you mean the silly but wicked awesome and extremely well made top notch graphic FPS campaign in existence on a console. I feel nothing but sadness for you. This shows how strange minded some people are, what do you gain in bashing this amazing game nothing I love the Killzone series it is very fun i guess if you are a weak person you cant sympathize with the macho-like story of it but i can so whatever. Also playing it with a move sharpshooter and in 3D make it just extreme fun the #1 FPS in the graphics department on a console remember that people =D
You truly are a moron, I said I already own the game. I played through the campaign the day the game was released, why would I care about them giving the SP away. Plus the story in KZ3 is far, far weaker than the story in KZ & KZ2. Before you try to raise a story to such high regards try to make sure someone hasn’t played it yet.

are you serious? KZ1 and KZ2 didnt even have a ****ing story (though I love the games). In this game, the characters are not even half as obnoxious and stereotypical as they were before and its not terribly acted. Anyway, the real heart of the “story” is Malcolm Mcdowell’s character, Chairman Stahl. He plays the best villain we have had in a game since Andy Serkis in “heavenly sword.” He steals the show. anyway, im not sure what you were expecting storywise out of a game called “killzone 3.”

I wasn’t expecting much of a storyline, all I said was the story line was weaker in KZ3 than in the previous games. I never said anything about wanting an amazing storyline from a game that I buy mainly for the MP. And the SP in 1&2 were far better, who cares about the acting, I don’t play a game because of good voice actors, I play a game to have fun and to relax.
I agree with PERMAFROST on that one. Killzone 3 is a great MP game, it’s very fun and easy to play. Graphics are amazing but not the “Holy Grail” & the voice acting is not the reason with I bought it on the first place.
Definetely I would not consider this game on the same stage of the UNCHARTED franchise but it is closed. I believe that with a more intricated story, a more open world and a more vast multiplayer experience, this could become one of the greatest Sony franchises of all time, but time will tell.
I am happy with the news. this will bring more players worldwide to the MP (as they did with MAG), KZ3 is fun with full teams but lately it has been a little too scarce (let’s not forget that Batllefield 3 and MW3 are center stage for now).
Hopefully they give some tipe of incentives to owners of the disk, but I am not holding my breath.
Yeah, I was on thier lst night and it teams were a bit small. I noticed I couldn’t vote for any of the maps from the DLC, any reason why?

You can’t vote for any of the DLC maps because they never fixed the DLC map looping bug. Once you get on a DLC map it will continuously loop the DLC maps instead of cycling all of them.
Well thats pretty f*cked up. I read something about that aswell. Once your on the DLC maps, you can’t get off!
I also read that when the voting comes up, everyone in the match has to have all maps installed for the options to appear in the voting screen. If ONE person in the game doesn’t, then no-one can.
I feel a bit short changed by it all. I shelled out for the DLC bundle pack just on the weekend, only to find out it will soon be free for everyone. I wouldn’t mind so much……..if I ould bloody play them! So bored with the Kaznan Jungle etc…….
Yeah after buying the DLC for KZ2 I refused to purchase it for KZ3 the only DLC I have for it is the pack that came with the Helghast edition. Only game I buy DLC packs for is BF3.
I’ll keep tinkering around with it, hoping it will come good after everyone gets access to it for free. But at this stage, disappointed.
I went back to playing BFBC2 a month after KZ3 released, it was just very disappointing with the amount of problems and the fact that you can’t play all maps in all modes, that drove me crazy. Still a good game to play every now and then, Operations mode is still the best out of any game though.
I thought the single player campaign was incredible, but WAY too short. I was like “Is that it?????”
Tne MP is one of my favs. One of the only games I got that I don’t constantly get owned by 12 years olds! lol. I’m not too bad at it. usually finish in the top three. I like the use of droids, and play as a high level medic. Thats why I was so looking forward to new maps! I even like it in empty rooms with only one other enemy. the hunt get very tense, especially when you can hear foot steps nearby. love it.
Does it come with all the DLC? I hope so as the extra maps are badly unpopulated. I just paid and downloaded ALL the DLC two days ago! Typical. Maybe now I’ll be able to find a Guerilla Warfare match on the Junkyard map………….I’m bored with the other five.
For consoles not PC: KZ3 is FPS graphic king and Uncharted 3 is TPS graphic king it’s the truth those who disagree you are crazy =D

How many times I have to say it? I OWN A PS3!! I don’t hate Sony. If you can’t read and remember what someone says then keep your comments to yourself. Well, if you judge your games amazing qualities by graphics alone then you must have some real horrible taste in games. Graphical quality doesn’t dictate whether a game is amazing or not. And you’re not trying to state opinions you’re trying to get your opinions off as facts which is just not true at all.
