Welcome back for another exciting Head2Head! This week we head into the darkness to uncover the graphical differences between The Darkness II on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A few weeks ago we took a closer look at the demo version, lets see if any changes have been made in the final build.

Who voted PS3? Might want to get your vision checked because there is a major loss in detail in most pictures. There’s the occasional pic that looks better for PS3, but almost every other one favors the 360. I tried both demos and could see the differences immediately. Picked it up on 360 and loved it. It is rather short though, as I’ve already beaten the game and the New Game + mode. Multiple endings make things interesting.
I was thinking the same thing. Going by these pics, its either a tie or an xbox win.
I ended up sucking in to the Xbox version so i could do some hit list online with friends.
i have 1000/1000 gamerscore (i got it on friday night and finished it early sunday).
The first was a great game, i’d give it a 10. The second i’d give an 8. The first is one of my favourite games this gen. i saw the DF comparison, so once my friends are bored i’m gonna trade it in for the ps3 version, get another platinum, as i have the 1st on playstation.
What i still dont understand though, is how do LoT f#$k up so many shots? some of the ps3/xbox shots look so differnet from each other its retarded. are they using the right colour scheme for the ps3 and xbox ALL THE TIME?

Are you guys blind? The guy is not missing details in the Xbox version.. He’s missing a LEG!! Also the X360 in the first pictures is blurrier. It’s a tie the most for the X360.

Blind? No i’m not a fanboy or anything. i have no bias. i just simply believe that in these pics the xbox version looked better in more of them.
Though what i was saying is, (in relation to LoT screwing up pics)in the first restuarant pic, the ps3 version is vibrant and full of colour, then the xbox version is crap and blurry. but how come in pic 3 of the restaurant it is the exact opposite?
I think LoT have screwed up TBH. how can the ps3 version be much better, then a few steps down the restaurant hallway they go on role reversal?
besides, if you look at the performance they did on DF, the PS3 version wins in my books. i hate screen tear more than the casual fps drop.
It’s definately better on the SUPERIOR Xbox 360. Face it Sony Defense Force members. The over priced internet ready blu ray player just can’t keep up with the SUPERIOR Xbox 360 as we’ve seen over and over and over again on this very site. FXAA is abit more aggressive on the PS3.

I used to be a PS3 supporter, but then I got a 360.
I would call every single H2H a 360 win right now because of the gorgeous 1080p upscaling that it has. The 360 uses every bit of my 1080p TV while the PS3 uses 1080p in the XMB and a few games.
I like both consoles, but the upscaling is a big plus on the 360.
This game is definitely a TIE.

I was sure that no other console/PC is better than the PS3.
The PS3 games look gorgeous on my 50″ plasma, but when I got my 1080p 25″ LCD, everything started to look bad. With the 360 everything looks gorgeous on this TV.
Seriously guys, chill and stop your hating! Own all the 3 (PC, X360 & PS3) and be frickin’ happy!

Because in a fanboys site like LoT to come out with BS like “I would call *every single H2H* a 360 win right now because of the gorgeous 1080p upscaling” means to ask for troubles.
No matter how well the Xbox upscales it will never win the FF XIII comparison, for example. And no matter what, the native resolution is still 720p. No upscaler can change that fact.

Some pictures look identical, some look better on PS3 and others better on the X360.
But overall it seams the PS3 has a little edge. And knowing from what Digitalfoundry writes that the PS3 has less screan tear its a PS3 win this time around.
It seems to me that the xbox 360 has a slight edge due to being a bit sharper. Perhaps because of different AA solution or lower native resolution.
The ps3 one has slightly less screen tearing but ends up with slightly worse graphics, alongside a slightly worse framerate.
‘slightly’ seems to be the order of the day here, not much difference really but I reckon the 360 version has a bit more in its favour.

Android pottery much summed this up. Tie, with anyone with aversion to tearing recommended to get ps3 version,whilst anyone wanting that extra detail clarity and a slightly another frame rate should get 360 version.
Up close these details are noticeable, but otherwise, this head 2 head is barely worth publishing. I’m not going to buy this till its cheap anyway, and have heard original is better too.

Slight screen tearing? PS3 framerate slightly worse? I don’t know what Digital Foundry Face Off you’ve read and watched, but it must have been the one from the alternate reality for 360 fanboys.
The 360 version tears heavily while the PS3 version hardly tears at all. The 360 version at times has framerate drops lower than the PS3 framerate, although on average the PS3 version is very slightly less than the 360 version.
The graphics are the same so I’d say it’s a PS3 win.
Definitely not as much of a PS3 win as Saints Row the Third, a game I was sure would have been better on the 360. For a 360 only owner I’m pretty sure that was pretty painful to watch

Seems more a tie to me but for the controler,i choose PS3 version! I saw the 2 demos and dont really see différences! The demos of the darkness 2 was like FFXIII-2 to me.A tie but performances will determinate who will win! If 360 have more screen tearing than it’s a PS3 win cuz the framerate is solid on the Sony console!
Xbox looks sharper, but thats about it really. That isn’t always a good thing.
Not always a good thing when the res is so low(truth from samchez).
This is running at an alan wake sub hd res.
But i still prefer the look of the 360 version despite some of the 360 shots here having been taken in motion(hence the blur).
LOT do that quite a lot, it can mess up screenshots for either version and give the fanboys false hope(as we’ve seen in this thread already)
I don’t know… for me both looks fine. (In some pictures Ps3 looks better, in another the 360 version looks better)

Lol.Android. Good effort at humour there. Still bit die about result yesterday, and even more so about the performance, but still can see humour in you’re comment.
The only difference pretty much in visuals here according to df is the fxaa is better implemented, which is no apprise being gpu based technique. Same resolution, textures etc etc
The frame rate favours 360 slightly in heavy action scenes, whilst it tears less on ps3.
Apparently, fx13-2, wins by frame rate advantage in ps3. Won’t be rushing out to buy that either though lol
Of subject totally, but ten hours into skyrim and it just sold, worst combat ever, can’t believe the fuss people made of that crap

I think some of you stare at pics too much. The PS3 screens look clearer and have different lighting. You guys don’t see that ?
The PS3 version looks far superior. The visuals are much sharper and the framerate will no doubt be much better as well. Add in the fact that the PS3 controller is the best for shooters or anything else for that matter. Why would anyone choose the $hitbox version over the PS3.

I.have sold my 360, as my new job dictates I only have limited gaming time, and I just prefer my ps3 for various reasons (3ds got boot too for same reason), but its quite clear that 360.has slightly clearer image due to better.implemented aa in.the form of gpu based fxaa, which always was going to suit 360 architecture.
360 always has been and always will be the all round better machine for mukti platform games, with the majority having slight edge, and the occasional game programmes primarily on PS3 being the.exception to rule, along with the occasional stinker on ps3.
On this occasion, neither is exceptional looking, and has their own advantages and disadvantages, but the 360 has better implementation of fxaa which simply doesn’t blur details quite as much.
