Spec Ops: The Line Analysis Video
Conclusion: Overall, it’s clear that the 360 version will be taking the win here. While the PS3 version is slightly sharper in visuals, the 360 version has its own visual perks to even it out. Load times were pretty equal for the most part as well. What really sealed the deal was the performance. While the 360 version maintained a smooth and somewhat steady frame rate, the PS3 version both dropped frames and had noticeable screen tearing when the action got heavy. Both games are playable and everyone’s priorities are different, but from a tech standpoint the 360 will be considered the definitive version for this title.

Although the graphically differences were minor the Xbox 360 version was slightly more polished in my book. Overall, the better experience belongs to the Xbox 360.

It was close but not close enough, the Xbox 360 out performed the PS3 version. Graphically Spec Ops look great all around, but again the Xbox 360 version looked slightly better. Xbox 360 for me as well.

The PS3 may have one or two perks of its own, but the overall package is better on the 360. That said, gonna go with the box on this one.

Lmao… You guys are trolling hardcore with the poll.. People who don’t wanna vote PS3 go with tie XD
Why vote PS3 in this case?
Great game, not so great game engine – UE3 at its best -_-
Yep, Unreal engine is truly a shit!!
The less screeen tearing on the xbox has won it over for me but besides that there isnt really thast much of a difference IMO. Will pick this up when it goes down to budget price or once i finish ghost recon.
Just finished the game, nice story and very suprising multiple endings, cool voice acting and musics, that’s about it.
Mediocre graphics, stiff animations, clunky controls, terrible hit detection hinder this game. It’s not even playable at times.
Shame,in hands of a good developer, this could have been a great game.
Yager did a decent job. I wasn’t expecting much technological brilliance on PS3 in an UE3 game. Cover is hit or miss at time but there ain’t no game breaking bugs. At least they did not include any cheap/annoying/asinine/pointless/grindy (you get the point) MP Trophies/Achievements. Everyone is SP based. Getting the Platinum (cool image and name instead of random “Platinum Trophy – Collect all other Trophies to get this one” crap) or 1k GS is actually fun again.
Was an OK game, played on PS3 myself and didnt have any issues plus game ran well and didn’t notice any tearing. Voted a tie in my opinion as there was nothing in it between them.
now thats an honest review!
LOL sorry that was very brief as i was in a hurry..
but i did notice that screen tearing was once again mentioned in the analysis and I agree screen tearing can be annoying but in most cases especially in the percentages you are talking about its blown out of proportion.
I remember Enslaved and people saying it had the same issues but again same engine I’m gathering…
I feel that a few percentage of tearing doesn’t really change My opinion of how well the game performs and most of the time Isn’t really an issue..
The only game for me that screen tearing has been actually noticeable is bayonetta and that was unplayable on the ps3 for me, but on my Xbox it was fantastic.
Bah, some they win and some they lose but this time around the game was a tie for me as I didn’t really see a difference.
On another note does anyone know if LOT do request articles for people if requested…. I would love to write or even see some decent written material regarding the recent losses the 3 main hardware companies have posted because I’m sick of this one sided Sony or Nintendo are going to go bankrupt articles and want to see some actual journalism instead of fan boyish bullcrap you tend to see everywhere .
Screen tearing has been this generation’s worst feature. I really hope it dies with next generation.
Unreal Engine games always look like crap and run like crap. I wish UE would die as well.
You’re right.
When they released the UE4 I wasn’t impressed much. Sure they changed some elements but not many new things for me, still have the same atmosphere that feels like an unreal engine.
Those that will rock the next gens as I think are: Cryengine3, Frostbite2, Luminous Engine and lastly the Fox engine.
Not a bad result and as expected. Good to see LOT’s writing style is true to form (playing down the PS3 advantages lol)!
Come now. There isn’t anything advantageous to be mentioned about this bad port. These devs suck, and we just have to deal with that.
Now that this Head2Head is done…
@Lens of Truth
I would like you guys to pick Persona 4 Arena (out in a couple of days) for the next Head2Head. I especially want you guys to do a careful inspection of the online element, because I seriously would like to know whether or not does our Xbox 360 version suffer from the same major lag problems as its Japanese counterpart. After that is done, I would also like you guys to consider Darksiders II and Sleeping Dogs, the two major titles of this month. Also, please don’t forget about Lollipop Chainsaw in your free time.
I don’t want to sound like an ass, but can you please comparison the game closer to when it is released?
Other then that welcome back.
Also, this is a fun game with multiple endings.
Epic win for 360, higher res, hardly any screen tearing, better framerate.
It’s all good.
but didn’t they admit the PS3 wins out on visual sharpness?
‘but didn’t they admit the PS3 wins out on visual sharpness?’
Clearly they had been drinking
Well there you have it. The SUPERIOR Xbox 360 wins again. Better Anti-aliasing, better frame rate, fewer torn screens, better loading (no 6 gig M A N D A T O R Y install required ROFL), and look..it’s SSAO!! (only on the Xbox release though LOL). The over priced internet ready blu ray player had pitiful anti-aliasing, dumbed down shadows, and total absence of SSAO but still couldn’t keep up the frame rate ROFL!!!!. Wow how pathetic. Oh and I see that the Sony Defense Force is starting to re-use their “Blame the Developer”, play again LOL. REALLY? REALLY?
The Xbox 360 is the BEST console EVER made. –John Carmack
hmm, from my point of view, I think you want us to buy an xbox360.
Not bad for an advertiser.
Still, my only reason for having a console is for exclusives(360 has some, but sorry if I said not many).
And for the third party games, I’d prefer a high end PC over the two.
P.S
I have only a PS3 but I really like xbox 360.
To all those saying UE3 is crap, it really isn’t that bad. Sure it’s by far the most used middleware this gen which unfortunately has given a lot of games a samey look but in the right hands it’s pretty good looking. Batman AA and AC, Castlevania LOTS, Gears 1-3, Bulletstorm, Bioshock Infinite, Dishonoured, Enslaved, Mass Effect 1-3, Lost Planet 3….none of those games I would call ugly.
Clear win for 360.
Forget the game. Does anyone else come here from time to time just to LOL @ Buying’s “overpriced internet bluray player”"overpriced internet bluray player”"overpriced internet bluray player”"overpriced internet bluray player”"overpriced internet bluray player”"overpriced internet bluray player”"overpriced internet bluray player” DO YOU KNOW ANY OTHER WORDS BUYING? You are absolutely pathetic. You are not a gamer. You are a troll and a critic. I can only imagine how awesome ur real life must be, so again……LOL
In the EU version the mandatory install size for PS3 is 1339 MB which is nowhere near 6,5 GB.
The most important thing im Buying’s life, (7 years after launch), is what system has silghtly better graphics. LOL. It’s going to be pretty funny when he grows up and has real situations to worry about. Judging by how raging of a fanboy he is about 7yr old consoles, I can only imagine how obsessed he will be with real life problems. I LOL @ what you find so utterly important Buying. Hopefully you can handle adult situatons better than you handle this. I don’t think repeating the same words to ur kids doctor for 7 yrs will be productive. LOL
HAAHH and his comment got you all flustered, your life must be crappier than his.
Well of course Xbox won again. It wins these head to heads 99% of the time because developers have to cater to multiplatform releases in order to maximize profit. The internet ready blu ray player suffers because people like me refuse to support superior technology. So much so, I spend more time on forums than actually playing videogames.
The Sony Defense Force really should just admit that developers prefer the 360 because the cost to develop with it as a lead platform increases the margin of profit. If developers optimized their product on the internet ready blu ray player, the cost would inflate on multiplatform releases. As it is now, developers can release a substandard product because people like me will still pay the same $60 whether or not the product has met the potential of the industry.
I, for one, am glad that developers don’t optimize the internet ready blu ray player versions of games. If they did, I might have to stop fellating John Carmack.
Developer’s aren’t lazy, it actually has nothing to do with that. Corporations won’t needlessly provide more money in a budget if they know people will buy the game anyway. The poor quality of the ports on the internet ready blu ray player are a direct result of consumers owning the 360. Why spend more money developing something when the sheep will pay for embarrassingly dated visuals?
