Welcome back for another exciting Head2Head! This week we take a look at Capcom’s Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. ORC is developed by SlantSix, the same devs behind SOCOM: Tactical Strike (PSP), Confrontation (PS3) and Fireteam Bravo 3 (PSP). Let’s see how they did with their first multiplatform release…

Our capture card we have captured segments from the AVS HD 709 . Blu-ray, HD DVD, & MP4 Calibration suite.
As you will see, each system matches each other at the SOURCE LEVEL. No contrast or gamma settings are manipulated before or after capturing our images/videos. We strongly believe that these types of corrections are done on a individuals preference and should not be adjusted by us. Finally, washed out looking images that are due to contrast or gamma differences will not have any influence on our final verdicts. im not really sure what version is better…i think xbox is little bit less blurrier…but im not sure. But sometimes ps3 has a little bit better AA…

They both look like crap. And im not being my normal PC elitist self, Im talking in general. It looks like a 2006 game
Both look meh at best but the different use of lighting is intriguing. PS3 version looks more “moody” while the Xbox version is more cold and sterile. Either one actually works well for the game in terms of atmosphere so it boils down to preference. Motion blur seems more pronounced on the PS3 but there are more surface textures on the Xbox version. AA is also cleaner on the PS3 but it’s a fast-paced game so that’s negligible.
I’m gonna pass on this one since I hear the game play is $%!T.
Where is the button for “They both look like crap”? Really, it’s like trying to decide which puddle of mud looks cleaner…
Why do people hate on graphics that look at at least decent for a game? It doesn’t have to look like Crysis, KZ3, UC3 or GoW3 for it to look good. God people are so narrow minded these days. Anyway, I’m going to vote this one for PS3 but the performance will be deciding factor as the graphics are opinionated at this point.

As the 360 done superbly to lose the tragic game that is ninja gaiden 3, i want the ps3 to win this as well(it’s as bad as NG3).
I don’t want the spectacular win that was mass effect 3(360)to be spoilt by such poor titles.
I really hope the ps3 wins this game but i hear the framerate stutters less on 360(i just hope those rumours aren’t true)
lol android at least have the balls to admit that Mass Effect 3 is a crap game and the 360 win isn’t anymore spectacular than this or NG3. Or is the Microsoft d**k so high up your ass it’s penetrated your brain and make you unable to recognize a crap game when you see it??
Anyway PS3 is like every year dominating.
So far 2 crap games winning the H2H (it seems) compared to the 360 only winning one!
In addition we get high quality exclusives like Journey(GOTY hands down so far) and Twisted Metal. And soon we get Starhawk, Dust 514 and alot of other fantastic games.
So so far this year PS3 is leading 10-1
Just when i thought your delusion could not get any worse(after the desperation of skyrim)you compare the rubbish NG3 to what is likely to be one of the highest rated games of the year in mass effect 3 lol.
I know it hurts ps3fanboy to see the ps3 lose to the only top rated retail title so far this year(and what a loss it was), but it’s not all bad for the ps3 as it won the final fantasy h2h(the game everyone hates

Just be thankful LOT haven’t compared the updated ps2 legendary games metal gear hd and silent hill hd, i hear those ps2 titles run even better on 360 than ps3.

PS3FANBOY is a total d-bag. ME3 could easily obtain GOTY as it was a fantastic game. Android, can’t believe I am saying this but I am siding with you on this one. One more thing, you DO now that the PS2 and PS3 architecture are very different, right?
Highest rated only because of bribed reviewres but look at the user rating on MC and it’s another story.
Not really Mass Effect 3 is one of the worst games in recent memory. Last time I played a game this bad was probably Mass Effect 2 lol.

Asteroc1138, yep i’m well aware the ps2 and ps3 architecture are very different, it just amuses me that games designed for sony hardware originally have ended up better on 360(if reports are to be believed).
I’m not saying silent hill hd is any good on 360, i’ve just heard it has less issues.
It’s like if an xbox1 game was released on ps3 and 360 and came out better on ps3, i could imagine quite a few xbox fanboys being annoyed by that
@ps3 fanboy and Android. I think youre both desperately clutching at straws here. ME3 isnt an awful game by any means, but I do think that it’s been given very biased reviews that certainly were influenced by advertising. In fact Im certain that almost every big game is a bought review these days on majority of sites. COD dlc pack gets 9/10 after a month of adverts on every page and video on EG , theres a suprise???
Neither is it a game of the year, at least not in the public’s eyes. The reaction to it generally has been that of disappointment, especially after ME2. This time it’s all glitz and jazz, but the substance is missing it seems, at least for those that were fans of original and me2.
Im personally just getting into me2 at moment at second attempt, and it’s amazing, although flawed no doubt, but Im loving the setting and stories, but then I couldnt get into skyrim because combat was awful, and this whilst not perfect is distinct improvement over that. I also wasnt really that interested in skyrim setting tbh.
Youre both entitled to opinion, but both arguments seem a little polarised tbh, with neither really offering a balanced view.
Nah Mass Effect sucks plain and simple. All of the games. 1, 2 & 3. The only reason I play them is because I’m interested in astronomy. But despite having the freaking Milky Way as setting they fail to make an interesting environment on most of the planets. Most of the time it’s just really sloppy copy paste environments. They really have really bad imagination. As I already said many times. Great concept, it’s just a shame it’s being wasted by such a sloppy developer.
Jeez Louise people, learn to accept that your opinion isn’t only valid one inn world. I hate skyrim and would rather shoot my balls with nail gun repeatedly than play it, but that doesn’t mean it is bad game. You don’t like mass effect clearly, but that doesn’t mean.it’s sucks plain and simple. In same way my stating that. Gta4 is garbage makes it Ann objective fact.
Then no game is good and no game is bad and PS3 is still leading big time this year.

I pretty much agree with that tbh, there are only bad and good games in your opinion, based on your experience of it. We can maybe say there’s some general features that constitute aspects of what a good game should have, but I don’t know how you or anyone can declare that a game that is widely loved , such as mass effect or skyrim, is pooh. I can say it sucks imo, but that’s as far as im willing to go. I can say a game is technically bad, if it has frame rate issues, poor textures etc, but if someone else enjoys that game, then it’s a good game to them. Similarly, it’s only a bad game if you don’t enjoy it. It’s a completely subjective experience. There’s no objectrive way to measure a “good” or “bad” game, other than each person’s individual experience

Not so sure this is an Epic win for the PS3 Android. I noticed a few rocks missing on the Ps3 version. and whats with the vastly different character models? It seems to be a PS3 win, but so slight it can hardly be called Epic. I also noticed a bit of extra detail in the shoulder straps of the character with the gas mask on The Xbox version, but PS3 has a more polished look. Another case for the analysis……
oh, and Xbox may have won Mass Effect 3, but PS3 won Battlefield 3 & Portal 2. Two games just as huge.
oh and the over priced internet ready blu ray player may have won Battlefield 3 & Portal 2 but the SUPERIOR Xbox 360 won Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim. Nuff said.

Man… MW3 Sucks , that’s true, but Skyrim is not Superior on the PS3 IMO, PS3 doesn’t has a very stable framerate and has the long play problems. FIRETRUCKING BETHESDA DIDN’T HAVE TO LAUNCH THE GAME. THEY DIDN’T SOLVE THOSE COMMON ISSUES.
@buying1999. Skyrim?……..fair enough. But Modern Warfare 3 was huge in the sales department……but as an actually game it is re-hashed rubbish.
The framerate is not much worse than on the 360 at all. Very smooth most of the time. Compare this to 8% screen tearing all over the screen on the 360. And there’s no “long play problems” lol where did you hear this? I’ve had no problems at all.

A SSD or Hybrid SSD drive upgrade can boost the performance of Unreal Engine,Skyrim and Rage.
I know people don’t want to spend extra money nowadays but at least PS3 owners have the choice to upgrade to the higher performing option

Buying are you ever going to find another quote? You’ve been using that quote for every comment you leave against the PS3. Both versions of this game look pretty similar, and although the PS3 is slightly more capable than the 360 most developers choose the 360 as it’s easier to program on considering it actually has a proper GPU than relying on a CPU that can render graphics. Skyrim never appealed to me and MW3 is rubbish, besides, COD always has been better on the 360 but Battlefield’s always been better on the PS3.

Ps3 win. THIS?!! The SUPERIOR 360 version looks better(but only slightly. I bet if this was exclusive to 360 , it would look at least 3 times better.). Don´t forget about the framerate. Ps3 folks will be lucky if this runs at 14 FPS with 32 percent screen tearing.

Agreed. My asshole is a better game than Mass Effect 3. I can’t believe I actually wasted my money on it. At least I didn’t get the one day DLC.

Cant see clear winner here tbh. lighting in 360 version looks flat at times, with both versions appearing to have better details over other version at times. AA maybe slightly better on ps3, but Im going for 360 win, just to annoy Android lol
I have to give the slight advantage to 360 in this chase.
ME3 got very low user reviews on metacritic on ALL platforms. Just proves reviewers havent got any integrity nowadays. Money talks. Sad sad times we live in now.

I have finished this game 3 times and no it’s far to be a shitty game!!!! Best controls you’ll see in a RE game to date! Nice graphics too and the zombies are the most well done to date in a video game! I dont give a shit about reviewers and their sheeps! Me before you so once again,eat my shorts lol specially for Xbots!

I would like to request a Head2Head for Ridge Racer Unbounded, and another for I Am Alive (when the PS3 version comes out.) I also would like to request the staffs to analyze both the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Devil May Cry: HD Collection, when it comes out, to see whether or not if it’s another botched HD conversion (totally lost faith in HD-remastering after seeing how poor the Silent Hill HD Collection was.)
Bluepoint Games could make a lot of money being the sole HD remastering developer.

If you have a look on their website they have developed a game engine (BPE) for cross platform use and have used it for GoW Collection which was a really good HD remake.
If you want to support them they have a downloadable game called Blast Factor for download on PSN, unfortunately it’s review scores are average.
