So there you have it. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 looks great on both systems, but how does it perform? Well, be sure to check back in the next few days for our full in depth Analysis on the game. We’re also in the process of reviewing Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but we want to make sure we have all of our characters unlocked, and we fully understand all the changes Capcom has made to the fighting mechanics in the game – for better or worse. Again, both versions looked about even throughout and honestly they were almost impossible to tell the difference when viewing them side by side. However, we did notice that one version seemed to have screen tearing, which looked to be missing in the other. That being said, we’re going to need a little time to combo every aspect of this game to ensure we’ve captured all of MvsC3′s glory. Until then, the “Fate of Two Worlds” hangs in the balance.

Seems the 360 has slightly higher AF and the shadows are a little softer. That’s it.
Very good outcome I reckon, pretty damn even across both platforms!
>mfw PS3/360 fanboys down vote my comment for telling the truth
http://www.myfacewhen.com/32/
You give single console owners a bad name. I personally have a PS3 (+PC and Wii).. at least I’m willing to admit when something looks better (even if it’s very slight) on the 360.
im a little torn.. i dont know which version i want.
poison as a chick before shes a dude, or poison a dude that became a chick.. the pic of her sitting on statue haggar’s face was a bit hard to look at.
lol wow. onw little joke about a transsexual..
anyway, i ended up with 2 copies of 360 (won a walmart tourney) and the ps3 special ed.
they are both the same from what i could tell. ps3 was a bit more vibrant and darker but thats a settings issue, i think my ps3 is darker anyway. 360 had some screen tear.
both ran equally fast. ps3 has an install :/
i got the new 360 controller with the enew d-pad, and its nicer, but hurts! like pressing down on a miniature red stick thing from those crackers n cheese.. spreadable snacky fun jinx..
anyway, u can go wrong with either.
i use the ps3 for a personal preference to that system and controller, 360 for my friends for vs.
Both Version look good.
But they also look a little “washed out” and also the aliasing is prominent.
looks pretty equal to me. the lighting in the xbox version is a lil brighter, but that’s something you can adjust, so no big deal. tie. gettin it on the ps3 cus that’s the control preference for fighting games…stupid xbox dpad
The 360 Controller is the best controller in this generation in my opinion.
But i have to agree with you on the dpad.
Its a piece of effing bullshit.
I agree its so much difficult to play fight games on xbox…the control it’s awful …i dont know if im bad or what…but when i play Mk vs Dc i can neves make a fatality….
But the X360 joystick works awesome on shooters…
Thanks for putting this up before the full Head2Head, LOT. I’m very curious how this one will turn out.
They look very close graphically. In the Haggar screenshot, his hand’s shadow does look less jaggy (softer) on the 360. The same could be said about the MODOK screenshot, but the shadows look identical in every other screenshot to me.
I agree with LOT that the grass does look a little sharper on Arthur’s stage for the 360 as well.
These graphical differences are hardly a big deal and likely won’t even be noticed in motion. This one will probably come down to performance. LOT hinted one console had noticeable screen tearing. If I had to guess, I would say the 360 version may have screen tearing but the PS3 may have lower frame rate in certain areas. Since this game is based on Capcom’s MT Framework engine, that has been the trend in past games like Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2 that also ran on that engine. I guess we’ll see in a few days.
Hard to say – they hinted the same in Bulletstorm and it was PS3 version that torn in other sites comparisons…
XBOX360
Avg:29.953fps Min-Max:27.5-30.0fps Tear:0.701%(0.693%)
PLAYSTATION3
Avg:29.618fps Min-Max:24.0-30.0fps Tear:8.060%(7.240%)
But Bulletstorm is running on a completely different engine: Unreal 3 not MT Framework.
Looks like a tie.
The 360 version looks slightly washed out compared to the ps3.
The beleave with the ps3 version they went with a nice Kentucky Blue Grass and the 360 version they opted for the more common Crab Grass.
You serious? As Vereor stated above, It’s the slightly higher level of AF on the Xbox that makes the grass look different, not a different texture.
There’s no difs that matters…not in this game. Both versions look great!
They both look good. But i feel dissapointed about the control. Instead of kicks and punch, the mixed the attacks like tatsunoko versus capcom, looks like capcom forgot that ps3 and x360 are what they are, not Wii. the gravity is awful, mvsc 3 its only graphics, looks like the series diee with mvsc2.
On the other hand, its a visual tie to me
A few brightness and colour tweaks here and there and both games would look pretty much identical. Now we wait for the performance results….
Thanks for the quick h2h just in time for the game.
I was a big MVC2 fan (Dreamcast) but after that 1, the series died for me and I plan on keeping it that way.
Since then I haven’t been much of a fighter person….maybe the odd dead or alive, or Mortal Kombat but nothing else.
if ppl look at the 6th picture on the 2nd page you can see 1 difference, the 360 version has clearer grass…although for some reason it looks worse because it doesn’t blend in the colors that well..
In terms of graphics, its a tie for me. No silver lining.
In terms of Fighters on a console…its the ps3 hands down if you use standard controller.
So if you grab an arcade stick, then either version is good:)
Aside from the small differences, I think both games look pretty good, pretty close to one another. However, the performance analysis might tell a different story, who knows. Anyway, fighting games isn’t really my cup of tea, so I might just pass on this game.
ps3 looks SLIGHTLY sharper, more vibrant
Both are almost indistinguishable, just some soften shadows between versions..
As I said before the real difference remains in Frame rate, while ps3 version is v-syn locked the 360 isn’t so when ps3 framerate falls it does from 60fps to 30fps in the other hand the “no-v-sync” 360 version keeps a higher frame rate at the cost of ocassional screen tear.
I don’t think you understand how vsync works.
Oh, please show me the way……
the xbox version looks lighter, thats all i could tell
now that i checked the pics again, it seems the shadows are better on xbox while on ps3 there aliased
Hmmm… both versions seems to support a sexy women with pink hair in the background.
yea that’s a dude..
http://kotaku.com/#!333130/final-fights-poison-the-final-word-on-gender
Perfect tie. Both side will enjoy the game for sure. Thanks guys
I see slightly sharper grass in the 360 version but other than that they look identical.
I’LL BE HONEST…
I was REALLY happy to see the majority here vote this as a tie – as purely on visuals, it really is. There IS some nitpicking to be done here and there, my favourite being the grass! Hahaha… have you ever played a Capcom VS title? Kiss goodbye to ever focusing on the grass ever again. Also, yes, the shading is softer (nicer!) on the 360, but again, in motion, you’ll never notice this for sh*t! As an amusing addition to these minor nitpicks, I find the flames more vivid and well defined on Dormammu’s head in the PS3 version. Go look through the ‘Lens of Truth’ no less!!
AS FOR ZOLRAKS…
criticisms regarding the control scheme – I can UNDERSTAND, had you not played TVC before etc that it may come as a surprise, but I really feel (owning TVC) that the simplified control system lends itself really well to this type of game. It allows everyone to get on and enjoy the game without lengthy explanations and STILL allows the masters to master it – regardless. Personally, I will ALWAYS prefer the 6-button set-up offered in XMvsSF – MVC1 and as such, I was pretty disappointed with MVC2 as it felt very ‘cheap’ and diluted by comparison. So, until MVC3 – the series ‘had’ died at MVC1 for me
PERSONALLY…
the final verdict all comes down to the controller. For me, I like to use a USB Sega Saturn controller to play all the fighters gone by on PS3 – and I will continue the trend for MVC3. Also, if the fancy takes me, I can also use my PS2 HRAP or NEOGEO stick with my PS3 via a PS2 pad adaptor as opposed to laying out for new peripherals. Works for me.
Shame those USB’s on the 360 are no good for 3rd party controller options. It’d be VERY useful for me…
TIE and the END.
Is Because of that i LOVE Capcom.
If u have a arcade controller compatible with xbox and ps3 is the friend list what will determine what version to buy.
from the votes i think i’m ready to make an analysis of what kind of gamer frecuently visit and participate in this web.
49% impartial gamer
33% ps3 fanboys
18% xbox 360 fanboys
—-
51% of bad gamers
49% good gamer(who enjoy the games beyobd any stupid better AA)
INTERESTING…
based on my thoughts and comments, could you let me know what ‘kind of gamer’ I am please?
Cheers!
Me two, do you think he can tell what kind of gamers I am too?
Since you wrote “me two” … i don’t know.
Statistically Ur a bad gamer.
so many thumbs up = U can’t be a bad gamer…Ur cool
MvC3=Tie,but I prefer Dualshock3
Both look very similar some of the screenshots I prefer the 360, others I prefer PS3 but if it’s using the same engine as SFIV then the 360 may end up with a minor graphical win. Performance wise well, LOT says one tears so will have to wait and see.
Its actualy NOT using the SF 4 engine, this game is using MT Framework, which is the engine that ran Lost Planet 2, Resident Evil 5, and etc.
I say they look about even, though the PS3 does have the better lighting on this one and kidice i can agree the dualshock 3 is better for this and most fighting games and i’m not just saying that i have all versions of MvC2 and the dualshock is the best controller to use in this game.
Visual tie through and through. There are a few minor differences but niether looks better than the other. Can’t wait to see the FPS analysis for this one.
Im playing it on PS3 and noticed absolutely no screen tearing, so maybe the 360 version has it. I dont know, honestly, the game moves so fast I dont see how you would see it anyway.
360 had smoother shadows and was like 1% sharper.
but who cares.. i mean noone will notive that while playing the game.
Bought it for the 360 because history has shown that Capcom sucks ass on the PS3. ALA Shadows, lighting, bloom, missing fucking objects in stages on the PS3 version, super huge mandatory install, and laggy ass frame drops.
However the screen shots look pretty familiar to each other, cant wait for the full head 2 head.
How can you comment on the PS3 version if you bought it on 360. FAIL.
Also, your full of it. I played it on PS3 and everything ran great.
LOL I forgot this website is infested with PS3 fanboys.
“Bought it for the 360 because history has shown that Capcom sucks ass on the PS3. ALA Shadows, lighting, bloom, missing fucking objects in stages on the PS3 version, super huge mandatory install, and laggy ass frame drops.”
IE In the past Capcom has never been able to put a good game on that system.
no, its just infested with 360 fanboys like your acting like right now. I played it on PS3, it looked great. I played SF 4 and SSF4 on PS3, it looked great. Every other game I will agree with you by capcom.
You’re joking when you say you’re not a PS3 fanboy right?
I’m sorry but I own both system and unlike majority of the members on here I hold no flag for either company as they won’t do jack shit for me when I defend them on the ‘internet.’
And I’m still going to stick by my comment that while MVC3 in screen shot looks good on both system,
CAPCOM HAS IN THE PASSED SCREWED THE PS3 OWNER.
Stupid retards should be able to read that and comprehend it.
STFU dude, im not a fanboy. And why doint you wait for the actual head to head. And you should look up the word screwed, because I cant recall many incidents where capcom screwed the PS3 owner. Games by them usualy performed better on 360, yes, but that dosent mean that the PS3 buyers got screwed because the game cam up slightly better on 360.
I wonder if this means Capcoms worked out their problems they had with MT framework on PS3 with games like resident evil 5.
can’t wait for the proper head to head
I have both versions, the 360 has screen tearing with a better frame rate and the PS3 version has no screen tearing with a lower frame rate
it s a choice.
Or better frame rate,xbox360
or no screan tearing ps3
i preferd the xbox360 version
thats it
Who said it had better FPS on 360?
i got both version
Messin with em more, 360 loads faster even without an install. Loading is fast anyway, but it’s nice to hold down the buttons for extra fastness
I wish they would be quicker with these head to heads. By the time they come out I probaly have moved on to another game.
