Conclusion: Overall it’s clear that the 360 version has a very definitive advantage this time around. Lower resolution texture maps, sloppy shadow implementation, and a few torn frames doesn’t make things look to good for Sony’s platform. On top of that, even the 6.5 GB mandatory install couldn’t help any of it. With all of the time they took to make this game, this should have never been an issue. Unfortunately this appears to be a classic case of what happens when you focus all of your resources to one console and then try to port to the other. While those with only a PS3 will still be able to play and enjoy the game, the 360 version will definitely offer a better experience if you have both consoles.

For one, I own both consoles, and yes while I prefer the 360 for multiplatform titles and for games that take advantage of Xbox LIVE like FIFA, the PS3 clearly has more power when it comes to exclusives. Most AAA PS3 exclusives are graphically elevated, such as Uncharted, God of War, Killzone, Last of Us, hell, even Infamous 2 looks sick if you stay 5-10 feet away from a 46″+ TV. And this is the exact reason that I keep my PS3, and for Blu Ray of course because normal Blu Ray players are slow and have crappy interface. I think all you need to pull head from arse but I know you’re not gonna, because whoever says PS3 is a “pos”/”obsolete” is either doing it on purpose or is too poor to afford one. And don’t say Uncharted is crap because it hits all the high notes, story, voice, graphics, cinematic experience, sound and atmosphere. If you wouldn’t be poor enough to not afford a PS3 you would definitely agree with me that Uncharted alone is a system seller.

Xbox is from Microsoft, GAMES are MADE on computers. Is WAY easier to test a game on Xbox then in PS3. If you want to know the diference between 360 and PS3, compare the exclusive’s graphics. You will see that ps3 will kick 360 ass.

I play both systems and if you like to play in 3D the 360 doesn’t have as many 3D enabled games. GRFS is 3D enabled for the ps3 vs higher res on the 360. I truly enjoy playing in 3D so they both have advantages.
See what you mean by the shadow banding. Ubisoft were obviously focusing on the 360 with this one. PS3 seems like a sloppy after-thought port, and any extra sales deemed bonus. Oh well. Is it relevant where Ubisoft’s “loyaly’s lie?” No, because wherever their loyalty lies there is a reason for that as well. You’d be assuming that people would not buy the games if they ran well on the PS3 just like 360. If it were easy and possible to do, then every company would bank on it and make every game run well on PS3. But they do not. So the issue is not likely with Ubisoft, but with the difficulty of programming for PS3

Thats what sony gets for only putting 1/2 the ram the 360 has.. But for some STRANGE reason, Japanese developed games usually are better on PS3.. I think western devs dont even bother utilizing PS3s strengths & i dont really blame them.. You got a point. It is very costly to develop one game two completely different ways. When parity is as differnet as this game is, you can tell the developer focused on one console demographic, and ported it over the the other as cheaply as possible. A sign of the economic times.
Its not really the developers fault its sonys for making a system that is a nightmare to code for, remember they have a budget and thats life sony should have thought about it before they did something stupid. And japanese developers pretty much produce crap these days they need to wake up to.
If you look at platinum games they created bayonetta and it is a wicked game but the ps3 struggles with it because of the alpha used in the game so they then decided to make vanquish on ps3 lead platform and the game was terrible next to bayonetta, so as for people saying that xbox holds ps3 back its a load of nonsense, the only games the xbox struggles with is games with a shit load of video files like god of war and uncharted, if xbox had blueray it would not be the case. there are more restrictions on ps3 and theres games on 360 that ps3 could not do nowhere near as good.

Xbox struggles to even get its exclusives to run at 720P. And the bayonetta shitty port runs on only the PPU of the CELL ….if you know what that is.

While it’s true that comparing to other platforms of this generation, the PS3 is rather difficult to code for, I still think it’s the developers’ fault for producing such a sloppy port. Sure, they need their share of profit too, but so what? If they can’t cope with the PS3′s architecture then just don’t bother porting the game to the system in the first place. They know full well how hard it is to work with the PS3 but included one version for it ANYWAY, then they could’ve at least done their job right and made sure that the quality of both console versions would be on par with one another, not just handing out the gimped port to one side of the community and ask them to just deal with it. But I guess nowadays people who got the short end of the stick have just have to put up with it, all the while, letting the fortunate ones just sit back, relax and spit in their faces.

Sony got a bit artrogant after the landslide success of the the PS2. It’s almost as if they said “here is some tech that is leagues ahead of eveything else and hard to understand…….DEAL WITH IT!” Miocrosoft had the right idea by working WITH developers when they designed the architecture. Good move, and saved the console.
I fully understand budget restrictions blah blah. But if a dev is not going to give both console equal funding and time spent, then don’t release half assed ports. they only doing themselves damage in the long run.
FMV isn’t the only thing XboX struggles with. Sure, lack of media space results in compression artifacts everywhere, but explain to me the actual gameplay graphics of the likes of Uncharted, God of War, Killzone etc are far superior to anything the box can spit out?

don’t blame developers, blame publishers. the publishers 90% of the time decide what consoles they’re willing to put a game on and if the deal is that it has to be on both the developer has to try and get the game to run (and look) well on both even if they don’t have the proper team to do it.
@Smooth “if xbox had blueray”? It doesn’t indeed. It has a junky DVD player that doesn’t even hold 9GB of data! And it doesn’t either have an internal HDD as a standard. Games like FF XIII have been massacred because of the port to X360. That IS holding back the PS3 games.
And let’s stop kidding around, the PS3 256MB RAM for general processing is obviously a limitation but the X360 does NOT have twice that memory. It has 5212MB of SHARED memory. Developers that know how to program the PS3 proved many times that it is capable of more things than the X360. For the simple reason that all together (Cell+RSX) the PS3 has a more powerful hardware. The addition of the BR drive and HDD also gives more freedom to developers. Freedom that it is lost on multiplayer games. But the PS3 exclusives, which are many more than in the counterpart, show the PS3 full potential.
i was just expressing my opinion which im allowed to, @REDBLACK why is it that people like you think the ps3 is some kind of god machine, the way it uses memory is probably its biggest downfall. remember its alot easier for developers that only make a game for 1 console to get it right, i do agree with what people are saying that if the port is to sloppy then they should’nt bother putting it on the system games like bayonetta and skyrim should have been exclusive its not fair that people pay for rubbish ports like that.
@REDBLACK remember god of war and uncharted are quite linear games and god of war has fixed camera which makes things even easier, but don’t get me wrong they are both nice looking games and play to the ps3 strengths which is a good thing.
Both the xbox and ps3 are tired machines now we need next gen to come and have consoles that have similar architecture so everyone gets good multiplat games.
Any sloppy port will always be the developer’s fault. How else can you explain all the embarrassing PC ports we’ve gotten this gen?

Looks like a rather lazy port but PS3 still looks playable anyway. Will be picking this up for 360 once I finish Max Payne 3. Definetly does look better on xbox but tbh its not a particarly good looking game in teh first place.

Why does Ubisoft remind me so much of, Activision…? Oh yeah; because they both think it’s obviously funny to release shitty looking ports for PS3 owners. To me, releasing a shitty looking port is kind of like a girl, who is screwing one guy while just making out with his bestfriend on the side (even though, she knows he likes her too). So, one guy is getting lucky while the other, gets to watch and be hurt by it… My question is, if the chick knows she can’t satisfy both men, why remain friends with the one she obviously doesn’t like? Umm… Modern Warfare 2 was pretty much a tie on both consoles and Prototype 2 was better on the PS3 with no screen tearing and a more stable framerate.
By the way, I didn’t know Activision ported games. That’s news to me.
This was a SURE win for the 360. I bought the 360 version and borrowed the PS3 version from by friend just to see for myself and the difference is almost embarrassing. I’d hate to only have the PS3 and wanted to play this game. You guys really don’t know how drastic the difference is until you see it for yourself on your own TV. I mean the same was with G.R.A.W. 2 also. I knew better and went with the 360 version by default.
I’ll get this game on 360 as well… for once, i agree with shitbox fan-nerds on this game. Honestly, I’d rather this game took on more of the mass effect 3 aproach; same graphics with some slow downs than, shitty port graphics just to try and match performance…
in the last screen on the first page you can actually see the difference in texture quality in the unzoomed screen in the corner of the screenshot. that’s pretty bad.

Here’s LoT: oh crap Max Payne 3 is so ridiculously close with a slight edge in graphics sharpness, quality and vsync to PS3 and a narrow margin in framerate advantage for 360! Digital Foundry proved them extremely close! What do we do? Let’s bull**** people by coming up with a mock “new” format where we release analysis of one format and then pretend the other one is coming soon! Prototype 2 was superior overall on PS3 as proven by Digital Foundry but let’s ignore that entirely and analyze Ghost Recon FS because it’s easier to point out a 360 victory!

DF still awarded MP3 to 360 even if a slight victory. Not surprised the only advantage of the 360 you listed was the frame rate while you listed 3 (one of which ‘quality’ is pretty vague) for the PS3. DF also pointed out the 360 has better AA and alpha effects (glass, foliage and explosions). They did however miss out some other PS3 advantages such as the higher quality reflections and precision buffer and they also seemed to be playing an older PS3 build since some of the missing effects of the PS3 version have according to those who’ve played the it have turned up on the retail release.

MP3 also had image clarity advantage, but as someone currently playing mp3 on ps3 now, I cant help but say that the game is crap imo. Graphically it’s pretty nice, and one of best this gen, but dear god it’s repetitive and has clunky controls, along with a boring , dull script and some of most retarded gaming moments ive ever come across.

Keep playing it, Suarez. It takes a few hours for it to really shine. I just couldn’t put the controller down. The campaign is VERY lengthy and it’s nice to not get interrupted with a “Please insert Disc 2″ message. lol

They should have led on ps3 so that both versions are closer.
Codemasters would probably have to cut down the amount happening on screen then just to keep the lead ps3 version running without framerate drops and screen tearing, but it’s at least a better option than porting over a game designed for the superior 360.

Just been reading the reviews and it sounds another good race game in the series.
It is so sad to see that some people ( XBOX FANBOYS ) truly believe that the XBOX 360 is better than the PS3. The only reason and I repeat, the only reason XBOX wins so many Head to Heads is because the developers are lazy to make the game work on the PS3 so they just port the game, make a few tweaks and that’s that. Let me see the ALMIGHTY XBOX play God of War 3 or Uncharted 3… hahaha. It will probably die just by inserting the DVD in. So yeah, XBOX fanyboys, shut the hell up.

If it’s not exploited, then it’s “superior” hardware means nothing.

It doesn’t matter what’s under the hood. The end product is all that matters. The end product on the PS3 is usually slightly inferior. The PS3 is so superior that multiplat games are inferior on it the majority of the time. That tells me the PS3 is inferior most of the time, with the execption of their exclusives and some multiplats.
But everyone knows this already.

Game looks like ass and STILL runs at sub HD resolutions on BOTH platforms. Jeez, all it looks like is a 3rd person Call of Duty but that game at least runs at 60FPS.
What a shame. Although a definite 360 win, it’s still isn’t something to make me dust off that disposable pay-for-your-internet DVD shredder of mine.
Max Payne 3 was too close to justify buying the two disc version with online play held hostage for a fee.

Here’s the deal you guys…
The xbox didn’t “win” anything. The xbox didn’t actually DO ANYTHING. It’s all up to the developer to program to the strengths of each console. They obviously focused more on the Xbox than the PS3. It doesn’t mean the PS3 has crappy hardware and it doesn’t mean the Xbox is superior. This just happens to be one of those games where the developers weren’t competent enough (or didn’t have enough time) to make the PS3 version shine.
But, for some reason, the little kids on this site think that just because one system runs the game better and looks a little better means the other system is a piece of crap… what you should be saying is that Ubisoft just aren’t very good at optimizing for the PS3.
The same exact thing happens to the Xbox when the PS3 is the lead console. We saw this with Prototype 2 and Saint’s Row the Third. The weakness here are the developers, not the consoles.
I realize that all of this is going to go right into one ear and out the other for most of you fanboys because you don’t look at facts, you just think that the developers make one game and copy one to DVD and one to Blu-ray and release it. It doesn’t work like that. Anyone who is smart would realize this, but I’m afraid that’s not how people thing around here.

Well i saw this coming from a mile away! Ubisoft was clearly pushing this game for the xbox 360. Lets not forget that the big hype wasn’t for the gameplay itself but the for kinect support and gunsmith modes. And then of course on E3, Ubisoft made it sound as though they were pushing the entire Ghost Recon series for the 360. That said, i did expect more than a sub-par port for the PS3. Wherever Uthe dev’s priorities are, it’s hardly good strategy to alienate a third of the gaming community.

I own and play Battlefield 3 on 360 and I have literally never ever encountered what you are describing. I use and HDMI cord and played the game both ways, from dvd, and later installed.

You battling Xboxers and PlayStationers are still missing the point to this site. LensOfTruth isn’t here to provide “proof” on which system is better, they’re giving the fans of VIDEO GAMES a chance to see what developers have done with a game on 2 very similar yet very different systems.
I own and play both systems. My PS3 is great with it’s very diverse exclusives and loads of deals and my 360 is great because I can easily hop online and play a game with friends around the world.
I come here to figure out which system I would prefer to get my game on, not argue like a bunch of uneducated ignorant children.
The PS3 is once again #1 in wasted potential. And PS3 fanboys are so proud of that. They like to brag about how the PS3 is so superior that game developers don’t bother to exploits its full potential most of the time.

Another disapointing showing for the PS3. Why bother making a PS3 version anyway. Game developers should only make PS3 exclusives for the PS3 most of the time.
Here is genuine gaming facts from a gamer that buys games every week for all consoles and pc.
1. PS3 has the best line up of exclusive games period all year every year and the most diverse titles from mature to young making it the best machine for the serious gaming guru that is why most of the ps3 games do not sell as much as say halo because there is a bigger option of games to buy, online is free but very standard, features like chat and party are missing which is ridiculous but I must say I have less lag on ps3 than on 360 could just be due to my adsl.
2. 360 has less exclusives than ps3 but each exclusive that the 360 dishes out is perfectly polished right through to online play and I feel that they really make sure their exclusive games are top notch unlike the ps3 eg. gran turismo 5 was a mixed bag so many years to make but we still got dodgy shadows, standard and premium cars wtf!! this is 2011/2012 unacceptable. However when it comes to the real polish of exclusives uncharted trilogy kicks all 360 exclusives out the park becuase its as smooth as butter and as solid as diamond.
3. move vs kinect with this category i say they’ve both flopped so far but have opened new doors to what we can expect with the next gen of videogames or interfaces for technology, however I find the move has more games than kinect and cater more for the hardcore gamer eg. house of the dead series, resident evil 5, no more heroes, resistance 3 and killzone 3 to name a few where as with kinect which cost me three times the cost of move i have very few games that appealed to me eg. eden, sports, adventures, ubisoft fittness and a few more very disappointing no competetion to ps3 move.
4. blu ray yes you can all say what you want 360 fanboys but you love it and you want it because once you’ve watched a blu ray movie dvd sucks and dont say you have a blu ray player instead of a ps3 because a ps3 costs almost the same price so get a life and you cant watch 3d movies without blu ray.
5. online yes its true ps3 fanboys this is where microsoft and the 360 changed the way we all game on consoles even ps3 had to change there ways to get close to 360 online eg. trophies for achievements.
ps3 just never could catch up to the awesome xboxlive experience and that is why its free otherwise sony would have had to dump the ps3 in my opinion.
6. at the end of the day not everybody has the money for both consoles but either way be thankful u have one because they both good and some people cant even afford a controller not to mention a console.
7. now for the big shock yes its the PC its unbeatable it does everything has the best graphics, biggest library of games, backwards compatible, super fast, online is amazing, internet browsing rocks, used for work, watch movies(blu ray, 3d, dvd etc.) and will always set the bar for consoles. However its the most expensive machine to maintain in the top tier so I cannot use the PC here as a alternative to consoles.

It’s really no surprise anymore when the 360 edges out the PS3 in terms of graphics or performance for multiplat games. It’s almost becoming the “norm”. It’s much more of a surprise when the PS3 edges out the 360.
The only games that I buy for my PS3 are my MS3 exclusives. Everything else goes onto my 360. I am not strapped for money so I have no problem paying for XBL, especially when I know I have a much greater online experience playing on my 360 than my PS3.
The 360 has a couple franchises (Uncharted and God of War) where the graphics look great and the developers know how to get the best performance out of the PS3. However because those games are exclusive, we will never know how well they would perform or look on the 360. Gears of war is an amazing looking franchise on the 360 with Gears 3 leading the way. Forza 4 is also an amazing looking game and performs at a solid 60fps in native 720p with some of the best lighting in games yet. I also think Halo Reach has some of the best backgrounds this gen and the online multiplayer has yet to be beaten by any other exclusive game on either consoles.
Multiplats are the ONLY way to be able to argue which system strengths out perform the other systems strengths. You can’t compare exclusives because how they look and or perform is in the eye of the beholder. Number of exclusives mean absolutely nothing as just because a game is exclusive, doesn’t mean it’s a great game…cough Haze, Lair, Too Human…..
If you ONLY own a PS3 or ONLY own a 360 then these comparisons are meaningless since you can only buy the version of the game for the system you own. I LOVE this site as it tells me which version is the best version for my hard earned $$$. Since my closest friends also own a 360 and buy all their games on the 360, I also have to buy some of the lower quality version of multiplats on the 360 for that reason. I also prefer the 360 controller much much more than the PS3 controller and XBL is a godsend with it being integrated into every game on the 360 making communications with my friends so much more easier than on PSN…or whatever the new stupid name it was changed to too try and get people to forget the PSN hack.

I bought my 360 because i wanted mass effect 1, gears, halo, alan wake, forza, kinect, project gotham racing etc.
I bought my ps3 for resistance, uncharted, ratchet, demon’s souls, move etc.
Its because of those strengths that people buy consoles not graphic comparisons, I bet you out of the millions of people out there that play the multiplats on either console only 10-20% give a shizzel which console it plays better on I know you said it matters to you I respect that but there are way more strengths to each console but exclusives are what really make them appeal to the client and thats why we have mascots/poster boys or girls etc. eg. Wii has Mario, Sega had/has Sonic, 360 has Master Chief, PS3 has Kratos.

I have a 360, PS3, and Gaming PC. I get games on each system due to how it performs as well as controls an graphics. Online is also a big component since it really does affect how the game is played. Xbox Live is better, then again you have to pay $60 a year whereas PS3 is free, but not as good. 360 usually is better at multiplatform, but there are exceptions to the rule.

Even if you ignore the games, the store of 360 is better as well. It simply has many more games, faster connection, and each downloadable Arcade Game has a demo.

You know what’s funny though? You NEED analysis like this to even find out what differences there are between both platforms. I’m sure if these analysis articles didn’t exist and people would just look at each game side by side themselves, most wouldn’t even tell which one is better.
Now unless a multiplat game is SERIOUSLY screwed up on either platform (Bayonetta, Red Dead Redemption, Final Fantasy 13) then there really is no reason to gloat about the performance of a multiplat game on a certain console.
Xbox Live and PSN is a much different story of course. But seeing as I need to pay a fee just to access the ability to BUY newly released games, access other PAID services such as Netflix and Hulu or even access to FREE services such as YouTube and facebook or to even try out FREE DEMOS a week before silver members…. it really isn’t worth it at all. PSN has online play and it works. It gives me the free option to join other services such as Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Video for a separate fee. I can chat with people, send messages, join their games, invite them, etc all without having to spend a dime. The “faster connection” thing you brought up is pretty false though. It entirely depends on your own internet provider. Oh and to be quite honest… Playstation Plus is a FAR better value than Xbox Live Gold has ever been.
its funy how u brag abt multiplat games! wen u have games like halo,gears,uncharted,gow,heavyrain,forza.. multiplat games dont come close to these games in terms o graphics! and dont tel me u have more fun playn multiplat games knowin your console has better graphics! u idioT! u had to come here in the first place to even notice it! wel to me good games depend on story, how wel it plays online, how stupid the ai is, wht new and inovative things they have done with the game,how long is the game, is it worth the amount i payd for! and then finaly does look like ps1 games or does it look like current gen! does it look better on ps3 or xbox? umm it doesnt matter! u wil get the same experience in the end! coz its the xact same game!!!! unless u care abt graphics and analysis then u wont njoy it n u dont deserve to njoy it! so its al in yr head!!!!! or is it???
