Welcome back for another exciting Head2Head! This week (thanks to Play-N-Trade Oviedo, FL) we scare our way into Day 1 Studio’s FEAR 3 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. FEAR 3 is using a heavily modified version of the Despair Engine – the same engine used for Fracture. Now come join us to see which version is looking to come out the soul survivor of this horrific nightmare.

^
PS3 fanboy #1.
^
jackass #1,i kid!man i was on an iphone and the pics were looking better there cause of the lighting.xbox looked dark so i voted ps3.lol all of u took it seriously trying to protect ur consoles AS fanboys.waoh u people are sick,u need to go out.all of you attacked like i was a noob on cod.few!
excuses???
@Jared
They weren’t defending their favorite console, they were stating what they believed (and in this case, it’s true, the 360 is a bit better).
You should have just said that you made a mistake via your iPhone and went on, nothing more or less.
i said it the first second i opened my pc.first post was from yesterday.
then why is everyone buying a ps3 if the xbox is better?
if it was like that then the ps3 would have zero sales.
and i wouldn’t have bought an xbox.
Unless you mean xbox is better here which i agree with you.it has better shadowing.
@Jared
Yeah sorry, I meant better here. As a console, I myself prefer the PS3 too.
Sorry about that, I should have said I was talking about F.E.A.R 3.
“then why is everyone buying a ps3 if the xbox is better?”
Because the PS3 has good exclusives too. And it’s a Blu Ray player. Most people buy the PS3 as a Blu-Ray Player.
“if it was like that then the ps3 would have zero sales.”
Nope. A Honda is a better car than a Kia… but people still buy Kias.
“and i wouldn’t have bought an xbox.”
What?
P.s. Dude, you are a fanboy.
my ass won too! wanna see screnshots??
if you like showing uploading pics of u touching urself what can i say……………
no thanks………
*if u like showing pics*
I agree with you, i don’t like shadows either. I rather prefer no SSAO, and no shadows, because it looks so much more real to my fanboy logic.
see the pics from an iphone an tell me what u see.
Ps3: someone holding a weapon
and the awesome xbox of urs with ur epic exclusives, best graphics of all time and the winner of this genaration:nothing
Wait! NOOOOOO what have you done?! Your inner fanboy is showing.
this is what they say!what.i dont want to hide anything.
maybe if i bought an xbox i would be like them. but i bought a ps3 cause i knew a lot friends who owned a ps3,cause it worth the money.i also couldn’t afford two consoles so i had to make a decision which was better for me.i ended up on ps3 cause i’ve owned a sony console before, and a psp so i trusted sony.i’ve never bought anything from MS besides from windows lol.
u know i’ve read a lot of things before for the xbox such as the red ring, that was the biggest reason i bought a ps3.
Are you replying me? Believe it or not…that comment was meant to someone several post below.
This messy reply system is awful!!!
then i misunderstood
PERFECT!
YOU WIN!
Huh? How? PS3 lacks shadows under those bodies and has weaker textures. The 360 has a better atmosphere, (considering it’s a horror title) although I wouldn’t complain if it was a tad brighter. The PS3 looks absolutely washed out.
What weaker textures? The textures are exactly the same. The only difference is that on PS3 one can actually see them. Playing with brightness, if the shadows are wrong as it seems one may end up having washed shadows. Which would be a nightmare.
Personally I think that something is wrong with this comparison. And I said that on X360 benefit. If that really is the in tv result the X360 version is f*cked up. The only thing that look better (and visible) is the door. I don’t know if you noticed, but one can’t even see the gun details. It’s just a dark block.
“What weaker textures? The textures are exactly the same.”
Uh what? Do you know what a texture is? They aren’t even remotely the same.
“The only difference is that on PS3 one can actually see them.”
You can adjust the gamma for the same bright washed out effect if that’s what you like… but on the 360 you’ll have better textures.
“Playing with brightness, if the shadows are wrong as it seems one may end up having washed shadows.”
Is it wrong to have shadows? What seems wrong to me is that the PS3 version has none.
You fanboys are hilarious… it’s blatantly obvious the 360 won this round, but you just can’t face the facts. In denial over your favorite plastic box… sad really.
the xbox won 2 times in a row you idiot fanboy -.-
really???ohhhh sorry you fooled me again with ur name.
if ur an xbox owner ofcourse you will support ur awesome console!!!
who is the retarded fanboy now?
Geeze dude, don’t be like that, better said: like him.
I don’t know if see it but you are trollin.
First you put words, fanboy words in my mouth that i never said, and i won’t.
I supported La Noire Ps3 version, and portal 2..but according to your logic i have a ps3?
some of us can recognize the good things in other consoles…and you can easy confirm lookin fot me in other H2H.
But as far as i see you are incapable of say the same…or it’s “yout inner fanboys” that never comes out its doin it now?
is this a reply for me???
@Jared
“if ur an xbox owner ofcourse you will support ur awesome console!!!
who is the retarded fanboy now?
I’m an Xbox 360 owner, and the PS3 is my favorite console since I own it too. His name in no way implies he’s a fanboy.
don’t even reply to what i said man, just go and screw with someone else.
i’m fed up with all these shit.
I’m just simply stating something, not attacking you in any way.
Well here’s, yet another, loss for the ALMIGHTY ps3. Looks like da’ powwa’ uv da’ cell didn’t have the horsepower to keep up with 360. That’s usually the case anyway. 360 wins again, and again and again. But hey, what do you expect when you try to use an overpriced, hacked, internet ready bluray player for a gaming machine?
proof?frames?tearing?
what is a fanboysm?is he a fanboy?or am i wrong?
did ps3 made something bad to you?
did sony said something bad about your family?
i assure you that ps3 is usefull as the the xbox is.
and about the hacking thing, don’t worry.your time will come.
Ahh. Spoken like a true PS3 fanboy. I just deal in the hard facts. Go look at the Head to Head score on this very site. LOL. Yeah I didn’t think you would. That’s called Denial. Now go put a Barney the Purple Dinosaur BluRay in and sing along with your,”I blindly believe the PS3 is the best” blinders on ROFL. Oh you PS3 kids really crack me up.
Another fanboy starting the fight again!not my fault guys!I clearly said who is the winner here.
So when 360 loses , is that cause it doesn’t have the horsepower to keep up? If so we have a total contradiction , with both having more horsepower than the other .
So logically , this seems to indicate that there’s other elements involved to account for differences, and the most logical ones are the engine used to run the game, the console that was lead format and how well it’s been optimised for the console that receives the poorer port.
Grow up u fanboy morons!!!!
Man, in this game, the xbox, looks better, if you dont like it, its your problem but, it wont change the game experience, fear 3 is a good game for both consoles, but as you see in this comparation the xbox has better SSAO (Ambiental Oclusion), clearly textures, and other things.
The darkness is about the brightness and contrast of the TV, HDMI output, reference levels, etc… and we are here to talk about the graphics only in this game, and not to say what console is better, so plz be objetive with the reality of the screens and dont try to lie yourself plz
jared … you must be blind, anyone see that the Xbox 360 won this head to head
Why do developers think dark = better graphics? Tone down the shadows for f&^k sake, it’s eye straining.
The XBOX 360 version might be dark but it actually HAS shadows, so this is a win for the XBOX 360 version.
360. Better shadowing.
Why do we get f—ing performance analysis’ anymore.
Screenshots only tell HALF of the story. C’mon guys. This site sucks now.
Hey Justspaztik,
As mentioned in the FAQ section, we currently run this site out of our own pocket. Sure there is some money from advertising, but 99% of that goes toward keeping the servers up. That being said, we all have families and work full time jobs outside running this site. We do our best to keep you guys informed with H2Hs, news, and reviews so please be patient. I know there has been a decline of recent full H2Hs, but now that all the E3 dust has settled things will be returning to normal. Keeping up with all that news took up a lot of time in itself.
We are currently working on the Alice: Return to Maddness H2H and it should be up soon with more around the corner. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Don’t think anyone is seriously interested in the Alice Analysis.
take ur time, theres some ungrateful bastards on here. Appreciate the hard work involved
I agree with you, it’s kind of anoying that LOT is just doing screen H2H almost every time.
Where’s performe analysis!!!
Note the lighting differences on the players hand. The xbox is wayyyyy to dark, but can be fixed. The PS3 version is too light, but can be fixed. The same shadowing is present on both versions, just one is more dramatic than the other. Lets face it people. The differences in most games lately are so insignificant, one has to wonder if they would EVER be obvious during gameplay instead of static shots.
Well that’s why this website was made, to find the finest differences in detail for those who are not sure which version to buy/rent/get.
I disagree, xbox does look too dark but ps3 does have shadows missing.
Yes, I am aware of that Captain Obvious. My point being that the differences are so minute on most games lately, that the version you buy/rent/get is becoming increasingly irrelevant. I love these H2H’s. I look forward to them. Xbox also hs lighting missing, such as the glow on the characters hand.
My name isn’t Obvious and I’m certainly not a captain.
The missing glow is most likely becus the pic was taken when the Mic on his hand wasn’t lit up on the ps3 version it blinks so im guessing it does the same on xbox. But yeah like i said before xbox a bit brighter prob like 5-8 notches on ur tv n ps3 bout 4-8 notches lower. But yeah the resolution on both look identucal n Yes it looks better than fe.a.r.2 project origins. And Yes i love my ps3 n my xbox but preffered gaming on my ps3 cus I preffered the ps3 control n I’m 6’5″ so I have big hands n I still like the ps3 control more so
So, if i change contrat option in my tv shadows will be there on Ps3?
But, i agree with in 99% they look side by side almost the same in 99% of the cases, but shadow missing here on the ps3, are not something you won’t notice while playing.
The same shadowing is not present that’s obvious. You can’t create shadows by adjusting the brightness level.
The 360 is too dark and the PS3 isn’t dark enough. But I guess because it’s a horror game darker is better so I’d go with the 360 based on these photos.
oh god how can you say the xbox version looks better than the ps3 please if you can barely see the images on xbox how dark it is to play on Xbox jajajajaja it would be like playing with my eyes closed lol
Graphics looked the same . Shadows were present on both but at different level xbox way over done n ps3 under but ps3 u just lower the brightness n xbox turn up the brightness
I think I’m inclined to agree tbh. The 360 too dark, and ps3 too light, and not certain that the ssao on 360 really that much better, just think brightness on ps3 needs turning down, and 360 needs brightening up. Lighting seems different in some shots though , although in the picture where he has something in his hand that’s glowing ps3 lighting seems better. Overall, reckon they pretty similar if u adjust brightness.
the version ps3 looks better!
^
PS3 fanboy #2.
are you just gonna comment the obvious?? okay then
^
Xbox fanboy #1
^
and yet another ps3 fanboy!
^
Dumb f*ck who can’t make up his mind, and flip flops out the asshole.
PS3 wins here, although I will say the 360 has better looking blood, and the darker effect adds alot to the overall mood of the game. But the PS3 version actually has lighting, and you can actually see the textures because of it.
PS3 fanboy, then a 360 fanboy, then another ps3 fanboy, and then…another 360 fanboy and then-wait ANOTHER ps3 fanboy.
Who would’ve guessed…
FAIL!
I have both consoles.
Since when too much shadowing equals better shadowing? I hope for the 360 that raising the brightness will fix it, because otherwise that version is unplayable. i can see barely nothing.
Yeah , if I was stuck with the settings displayed here , I’d have to go with ps3 , just cause I can actually see details in bsckgrounds etc in shots, that are just lost in 360 version, as they’re too dark, but reckon both need adjusting slightly from where they’re set now.
Wow the differences are rather radical !
This is like la noire but for the xbox. I think the ps3 might, just might be at a lower native resolution than the xbox version
I was thinking the same thing!
Clear 360 win.
The “It’s too dark!” argument is always used when the 360 wins.
The brightness can be adjusted!
If it’s that dark and you turn up the brightness it will take away from the overall detail of the game.360 renders way to dark the only thing i seen was slightly better blood and ssoa which in areas looks bad. This is a tie imho sorry..
“If it’s that dark and you turn up the brightness it will take away from the overall detail of the game.”
Can you prove that?
Do you own both versions of the game?
The same shit was said about MK9.
I bought both versions.
I adjusted the brightness and gamma on the 360.
It looks ten times better than the PS3 version!
Similar to the “it looks washed out” arguement that’s always used when the ps3 version wins. Adjust the brightness on both versions and the difference is almost impossible to spot. How is this a “clear” win for Xbox. It’s not “clear” if you can’t see anything! lol
In any other game, like that game where you have a dog. Dark is awful, and a bad thing. But i games like this, “horror” games dark is part of the inmersion.
Or you change your tv setting in Dead Space because you couldn’t see anythong and it was too dark?
Besides, wash out is never good, and it can’t be adjust in tvs. Unless you and a few other fanboys have it.
Most multiplatform games do look “washed out” on PS3!
Pretty simple really. The 360 version looks much better.
It has nothing to do with brightness. It’s textures and processing. You can’t fix that with TV settings.
As much ps3 fanboy as I am I have to give this win to the box
*Sigh* Like its predecessor, this game looks better on the Xbox 360 with more detailed environment, better lighting and shadow, plus better implemented SSAO. Basically, it seems to me that the Xbox 360 version looks more immersing than PS3 version overall. The performance will probably favor the Xbox 360 version, too. By the way, in my opinion, for horror games, darker IS better.
*Sigh* For what purpose did they “heavily modify” the engine if it still can’t deliver parity across platforms? Failed!
Not as good as Dead Space 1&2. They rock!
still getting it for ps3 =I
Idk, Without a performance analysis i voted for a tie.
Since I already own the PS3 version of F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin, I’ll be getting this 3rd installment for it as well. I am a little disappointed with the PS3 version since it looks no different than F.E.A.R. 2 graphically but I’m sure I’ll have fun with it regardless.
Why are people saying PS3 wins or it’s a tie?
The PS3 version is missing shadows, has worse SSAO, lower resolution spec maps, and looks washed out (i know this can easily be fixed by changing settings).
It’s a horror game, it’s supposed to be dark.
hmmm…maybe their computer’s brightness is down :/
idk they keep saying they can’t see shit…
I ACTUALLY OWN THE PS3 VERSION N I LOWERED THE BRIGHTNESS AND GUESS WHAT THE SHADOWS LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THE XBOX VERSION… OMG NO WAY RIGHT BUT IT DOES THE PS3 ISN’T MISSING ANYTHING FROM THE XBOX VERSION. whoever owns the 360 version make it a bit brighter cus what is shown on those pics is way 2 dark u should still b able 2 see with the flashlight. so Yes its a tie u don’t agree ur a biased fanboy either way
I doubt it looks exactly the same seeing that xbox has better SSAO but ya got any proof?
I don’t know how 2 take pics of my ps3 without using my phone n with phone pics u can’t tell so I can’t upload any pics best I could do is take a pic n email it 2 sum1 lol but it won’t do it justice although I have an 8mp camera on my phone
Well wouldn’t be the first time some effects haven’t been loaded yet. Or they dissapear when you are at certain distance.
But isee it highly unlikely, The truth is Xbox has shadows, SSAO and that can’t be fixed in Tv settings.
I don’t know why is so hard to admit Xbox won this time, unless Ps3 would have better framerate…that would be a tie…maybe.
Sometimes you win and some others you don’t. Wer are here to know what version is better, or to support one version over the other, even if it’s inferior?
^ this says it all people.
Changing the brightness on the ps3 =/= Creating shadows
@TWIST3DM3RC
I NEVER SAID CHANGING THE BRIGHTNESS WOULD CREATE SHADOWS ALL I SAID WAS THE VERSION IM PLAYING DOES HAVE SSAO AND IF U DONT BELIEVE ME THATS FINE I HONESTLY DONT CARE.
@KROZET
IF XBOX WOULD HAVE WON I WOULDNT CARE BUT 2 ME ITS A TIE SO STICK THAT UP YOUR XBOX FANBOY BUTT
There’s definitely some ssao missing at points mate, whilst it’s clearly there in other parts. Might have been pared back. The despair engine , despite being heavily modified, was probably still centred more around 360 architecture, and was thus unable to fully implement ssao without some performance hit, and they dropped bits here and there.
The main shadows in the room may be altered by the adjustment of brightness of tv, giving a darker feel to game , as there’s clearly in some ps3 shots , shadows there that aren’t as dark and thus less atmospheric , but ssao is clearly missing in certain parts too.
There’s not huge differences between the two versions , but slight 360 advantage if I’m honest .
xbox 360 looks too dark in some screenshots… but overal is a win for 360 due the missing shadows and other details in the ps3 version.
I wish LOT to do analysis again.. without them it makes little sense..
I’m still waiting for the DiRT3 analysis :S
ScreenShots screenshots and screenshots…. :/
And its a clear XBOX 360 win
XBOX 360 wins here
xbox 360 with no doubt wins this one.
-better shadows, against no shadows on the ps3
-the blood looks like blood, not like color stains like the ps3
- the darker look is pefect for this horror game
- better textures
- I should admit I liked the lightning on the hand of point man that was missing on 360, maybe differente light sources
coonlusion:
360 wins
tu eres el fanboy wey, asiq no mames
Muchacho, con calma! Somos latinos, las clases no se suicidan entre si, mejor jubtos cobtra los gringos
I don’t see xbox having better textures. But i agree in your other points.
u know what is my conclusion for you?
@zolrak
its obvious xbox 360 wins. both versions come set with the brightness at the same notch, so the brightness isnt the problem, but if there is one thing is that the darkness is better fitted for a horror game. also, if you look closely, the xbox has intense ssao, while absolutely none is shown in the ps3 version. finally, a closer look will also grant the fact that xbox 360 has better textures. in the first picture, the blood in the xbox 360 has the shiny effect while ps3 looks like a piece of shit with no effect on the blood. also on the 2nd page, the second to last and last pictures look washed out as a motherphucker on the ps3.
Did u not know that both systems have different default brightness levels everytime i play on my xbox I have have 2 turn up the brightness n on ps3 I always lower it. The brightness is not the same so get ur facts straight its know the ps3 games are always brighter than the xbox games
Looks to me like a clear PS3 win here… Obviousely, Day 1 Studios used way too much extra shadowing effects to hide the ugliness in the 360 version… But of course, 360 fan-nerds would try and use this (obviouse) “crutch” as a win. You guys are funny and sad at the same time!!! Lol… Oh well, you nerds have fun playing your “dark-corridor-shooter” while the rest of us play, “F.E.A.R. 3″…
They tried to hide that ugliness behind that darkness. So, every time you see a shadow in xbox is because behind there’s awful details.
but at least the tried to do it with Xbox…in ps3 they don’t even bother in hidding anything…it’s just there, where your eyes can see it…ugliness ugliness everywhere.
Krozet, you’ve been trolling in this Head-to-Head from top to bottom all night, trying to convince everyone your fan-nerd opinions; your insecurities about the 360 build are duly noted…
But he is right and you pretty much just said the same thing he did in your initial comment.
Xbox has it’s uglyness hidden while the ps3 version just lets it all hangout. So therefore, ps3 is uglier.
And you are calling me a fanboy? You just read what you wrote?
Now tell me, what’s not true about every single word i didn’t said. And the worst part is my comment is almost the same thing you troll aplied to ps3.
Shadow problems on ps3 will vanished if you change constrat on your tv. That’s trolling.
And, no…it’s not about opinions. We are not talking about something subjective.
Shadowa are there or they are not, it’s an opinion? No.
I just want people to say: I will buy ps3 version because…i don’t know: i like the control”…that’s an opinion and i will respect that. Or, !i got my friend in ps3, so that the one to buy”
But if you come here talking about hidding ugliness under darkness…what’s that? And you seriously calling ME a fanboy?
I invite you to look in other H2H and you’ll see my proportion of fanboyism is almost inexistent.
@Moneysha
You’re probably the biggest fanboy I have seen on this site. You refuse to admit when the 360 has an advantage, and you even go as far as to insult the Xbox fanbase at any given moment.
Joking or not, it gets old. You despise Xbox 360 fans for attempting to convince everyone of their “Fan-nerd opinions”, when you’re doing the same thing, albeit to an even worse degree.
I pray when you get older you can look back and see how immature you were.
“Looks to me like a clear PS3 win here… Obviousely, Day 1 Studios used way too much extra shadowing effects to hide the ugliness in the 360 version… But of course, 360 fan-nerds would try and use this (obviouse) “crutch” as a win. You guys are funny and sad at the same time!!! Lol… Oh well, you nerds have fun playing your “dark-corridor-shooter” while the rest of us play, “F.E.A.R. 3″…”
lol – L.A. Noire must be better on the 360 then.
@reptile360666
Sarcasm has no place in this debat… Obviously, PS3 owners could actually see the SSAO in L.A. Noire while still being able to see the game they were actually playing; As far as this game goes, SSAO isn’t even a factor in the 360 build, the game is way too dark to even see… If “darker” is the kind of logic you fan-nerds wanna go on as a win these days then, Doom 3 for the Xbox looks a million times better than this game by 10 miles; Lol… You nerds can’t defined this games “gamma crutch”, not to mention, the 360 version is also missing lighting effects; i swear, you guys’ll do anything for a win these days… Dark does not equal, Better, PERIOD!!!
BRIGHTNESS CAN BE ADJUSTED.
Does he understand?
Probably not, because he is a neanderthal!
Ok. The game looks really cool in game. And sice you haven’t played the game i will help you on this one.
Xbox is not missing any lights, the light you can see in Ps3 pic in this H2H was taken in different times. The light is intermittent.
And by the way, im not a fanboy…im more like “…render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God the things that are God’s.”
Even if i have to defend a ps3 version, like the la noire.
Purely from this screenshots i’d give it to PS3 because you can actually see anything in the game.
PS3 might be running at lower res tho? Notice the weapon icon in bottom right corner isn’t in the same location in both games, meaning one of them is running at lower res, and from the position I would venture a guess its the PS3 version.
(Second screenshot on page 2 shows this clearly)
That doesn’t say much tho since Crysis2 was also lower res on PS3 and looked better.
Wow!
You actually think Crysis 2 looks better on PS3?!
The PS3 version has better mip mapping and draw distance in enclosed spaces IIRC. It also had a more stable framerate where it counted, along with 0 frame tearing. I could be wrong though, sorry if I am.
this is a horror game so much better shadows needed here,,
so the 360 wins here.!
Another epic win for the 360 and another lost screenshot comparision for the ps3.
How many is that in a row now?
And i love the delusion from the ps3 fanboys who still believe crysis 2 looked better on their console lol.
The fear games were always fun, i’ll check it out.
Epic win is stretching it a bit Android lol.
Im inclined having looked closer(not on iphone)to agree its a 360 win though. Theres better implemented ssao, the blood looks better slightly, and thats about only discernible differences apart from the obvious brightness needing changing.
i cant agree Crysis is straight 360 win though, u have the 360 for resolution obviously and more consistent framerate overall, but ps3 had better framerate when it counted, in fights. Ps3 also had better anisoprtic filtering.
All in all, a mixed bag, with the game ultimately being a giant let down in terms of frame rate, bugs, and tbh gameplay for first 4 hrs. Only thing that really kept me interested was me cranking up difficulty level to high
Yeah crysis 2 had a slight firefight framerate advantage on ps3, it dropped to 12-13fps compared to the 360′s 11fps lol.
There was never much of a difference in that department.
But the 360 version was certainly less washed out looking despite the game being a bit disappointing(even the pc version wasn’t great).
lol, i thought crysis was ok looking most times, great at others, but dear god that motion blur, and a combination of weird contrast and sub hd res, really had a weird straining effect on my eyes, and this was across both systems. i literally couldnt play it for any period of time without getting mild headaches
@Suarez07
Wait, really? I thought I was the only one that had experienced that. The motion blur actually made me lay down in my bed, borderline throwing up anything I had eaten within the last day.
Luckily I was able to finish, because I did enjoy the game. But that blur..lol.
@linebarrell
Yeah, I think they tried to use motion blur to hide the low frame rates, but I had 360 too at time, and even on 360 it was exactly the same sensation on my eyes. Maybe not as bad as u got it, but I’d find myself with sore eyes from straining and slight headache. Not a sensation I enjoyed lol
@Suarez07
Haha, it happened on both consoles for me too. At least it didn’t affect you as bad as me. Hope you enjoyed the game though dude, for in the end, that’s all that matters (well, unless it kills us or something).
@Android123
Epic win? Come on dude lol. I would actually rather have the PS3 version if I couldn’t change the gamma/brightness due to having the ability to see stuff.
I’m alreadly 245/20 with my vision, I don’t need to be blind in game lol.
@linebarrel
mixed views of crysis 2 tbh
first third to half the game was dull and monotonous, but final half and bit , was pretty darn good, but still pretty flawed with its bugs and shoddy ai.
Mp online was horrendously messed up though, awful lag and hit detection completely ruined it, so i got rid of it.
Overall, a good game , that could have been great, but was too darn flawed to be amongst the elite
@Suarez07
I can agree with this. The mission I think where it begins to get really good is when you’re trying to assassinate that one dude and he has an entire legion of soldiers just guarding him. Everything before is pretty forgettable.
…All I did for that mission was go right through crouching via cloak since I had the upgrade that reduced the amount of energy it drained. I should replay that level and go guns blazing, as that’s one thing that made me enjoy the game, it was up to you to make it fun.
Lag was no problem in multiplayer for me on the PS3 and 360, however hit detection was (is hit detection lag?). I still have the game sitting in my library here somewhere, I might want to trade it for another game coming up soon. Any takers?
I guess if I was a nocturnal animal and were used to seeing nothing but darkness I would think the 360 version looked better. But sometimes I like to see what I am doing.
I’m voting for PS3 because at least I’ll be able to see shit….well, even still barely, I mean we’re talking about a horror game here. Horror games tend to be dark enough, but I can’t see shit in the 360 version. This is one case where better shadow effects on the 360 is going to make the experience worse…lol
Not really. You can just adjust your brightness and/or gamma.
What happened to the whole “NO! I CAN JUST CHANGE THE BRIGHTNESS! UGH!”
Man, I miss those days.
360 has sharper textures and better SSAO.
Clear 360 win again.
You know what? They both suck! This game looks mediocre at best, and those are some awful textures across both platforms. Say what you like, but in my eyes, from what I see, they’re both equally SHIT. TIE!
I have a question. Are you guys going to do comparisons between the 360, PS3 and the Wii U when it comes out?
Would be awesome.
btw i never said ps3 won.i explained that the first post of mine was from an iphone, excuse me if i made some (people) angry about that.if i could delete it i would.
both console won here.cause this game it’s multiplatform, it’s epic no matter where you play it.
I think that’ll be the case, but Isn’t kind of early to think about that now?
well i just don’t wanna have any problem with anyone here.u know i don’t wanna have enemies.
from now and on i’ll keep my opinions for my self.
lol ha ha i think see someone dance.
Damn it!
Reply system its bad…really bad!
it has ascended beyond bad, it’s now Super Sayian 3.
…I’m impressed I still remember DBZ.
PS3 for me hands down. as least you can freaking see the game you paid for. You people voting for the 360 are hilarious. 360 should lose some points based on the fact that in 90% of the screen shots you see at least 50% less of the game. Look at the PS3 shots you can see WAY more detail of the game. 360 is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY too dark.
LOLz at everyone argueing of graphics. Come on people grow up graphics don’t really matter. I can Play a game that has horrible graphics but has a good story mode. But horrible graphics plus horrible story mode is still a purchase for me to just not a full price though.
Then What are you doing in a web site that it’s dedicated to compare games in graphics 90%?
where do you think we are?
Graphics do matter. If Uncharted had half as good graphics it just wouldn’t be the same.
I disagree. If Uncharted 2 had okay graphics but the story and the cinema elements were still all there, I would have still had fun!
Graphics aren’t everything although I do like my games to RUN smoothly and at least have a consistent image (no screen tearing).
So that’s the only stuff that matters to me. I won’t be getting fear 3 because of the screen tearing in it. It’s too bad though because I miss out on a lot of games because of my pickiness. Not worried about it though because if the developers want my money, they’re gonna have to show me that they want my money. Yes, I do realize that people like me are probably less than 1% of the gamers out there. I do it for myself though. I purposely won’t play games with screen tearing and this game is no different. By the way… I have never played Uncharted 1… it tears.
U not missing that much with uc1 tbh, it’s an ok game, and probably very good by most standards, but compared to uc2 it’s a disappointment . Uc2 just does everything bigger and better.
Started playing this game last night and it rocks. It’s funny how much I miss the Fear slow motion effect. The game is tough I warn you. You need to duck and cover big time. Don’t try to blow through this game like a COD game because you’ll get butt f*cked by the enemy AI.
I bought this on 360 because of the controller and online portions. As for graphics I’ll give the slight edge to 360, but not by much.
To all the fanboys out there I own both systems. Just wanted to be clear.
THE ONY DIFFERENCE IN THE BLOOD IS ON XBOX IT LOOKS DARKER AND ITS SHINNIER BUT SERIOUSLY SINCE WHEN DOES BLOOD SHINE SO MUCH MY BLOOD DOESNT DO THAT LOL
LOL!(i have to write more words so i can post.)
It does if it’s pooled on the ground with ambient light shining on it.
I think this is a tie in my opinion, the PS3 has better lighting and you can see a bit more and Xbox has the better blood effects and just looks a little more toned.
Yet another example of difference in gamma levels being exploited to look like there is actually a substantial difference in image quality. People jabbering on about how SSAO on ps3 is absent sound pretentious and foolish. What’s making the ssao look more pronounced on the 360 version IS in fact that it’s significantly darker! Neither one has superior or inferior SSAO, AA, resolution, etc they are equal. People are seeing what they want to see. On a side note, what’s up with absence of the green light from the device in the second and third pictures of the 360 version? I’m curious if it’s due to the light being a blinking one or something like that.
“What’s making the ssao look more pronounced on the 360 version IS in fact that it’s significantly darker!”
False. Just look at the texture quality. It’s significantly better on the 360.
“People jabbering on about how SSAO on ps3 is absent sound pretentious and foolish.”
No… you sound foolish since it’s obvious you have no idea what you’re talking about.
“People are seeing what they want to see.”
You’re obviously an expert in that.
Just stumbled across this website and made my way into HEAD2HEAD.
You sad people lol.
What are you doing?
What is the point of comparing then calling each other names because somebody says your console lacks a shadow? *confused*
Do you really notice these little differences while playing a game? Does it ruin the experience for you?
Take a good long look at yourselves as I’ve never seen anything more stupid, its time to stop gaming when your getting upset over a missing shadow or texture or lighting. tut tut.
I think LOT should have matched the lighting effects of the games before doing a head to head. its too inconclusive with everyone saying u can make one lighter and the other one darker. I think LOT just trolled us.
Can someone explain me why Final Fantasy XIII is the only game that performs so mediocre on the Xbox 360? (I know Tomb Raider Underworld is better on the PS3 but the difference isn’t as big as FF13.)
The main reason is outdated compression techniques on the 360 version of FFXIII. The PS3 version has higher quality uncompressed FMV. The same effect could have been achieved on the 360 with better compression techniques.
My guess is they cut corners to meet deadlines since the 360 version was developed later on.
Whilst I agree it was a late port, and probably could have been considerably better using less compressed video; there is no way that they could have achieved considerably better standard without increasing the number of disks used , even if better compression techniques were used.
There is also the issue of fitting the image within the edram of 360, which if ignored requires tiling, which impacts on performance . If it hadn’t been such a quick port , they would have no doubt figured ways of improving performance , whilst utilising tiling to fit image in edram, but time constraints seem to have been an issue.
Look at digital foundry article for game to get a slightly biased , but well written for most point, article in this game .
Whats wrong with you guys”are you to lazy to turn down or up the brightness?because i think you could make these two versions of fear3 look more or less the same if you did this,lmao:}
