Another XBOX 360 win .. why vote ps3 ? xbox 360 version looks better
If better means blurry then that means the xbox version is awesome!!!
Not only blurry , more better colors too , like a skyrim bethesda ruin the game for ps3
Nice try, but Digital Foundry already did their analysis and made this statement:
“However, image quality and assets are largely similar, if not precisely identical, between the two console releases,”
Has anyone NOT noticed those horrid textures on the Xbox? Or the blur filter? Or the jaggies? Now this is what I call selective fanism.
Just looking at the screen shots here the 360 version is fugly. It’s not even the blurry look to it but the major, major crushed blacks. Thats not a good sign when you can’t even make out the details behind the characters head. Not sure why all these tweens seem to think that the darker crushed black levels is a standard or good looking…It’s not. You obviously really need to learn something about picture quality crushed black = bad….Thats not a washed out look on the PS3 that is a NORMAL black level
I have to say that this seems to be one ugly looking game on both platforms. But the ps3 version does look clearer and the colors and blacks also look more natural, compared to the inky look of the 360. (Although I’d personally lower the brightness on the ps3 a bit.) I’ll check this game out when its cheaper on ps3 or pc.
ha console peasants….. u do realise that your shitty ps3 and even shittier xbox are obsolete yet u still fight over which is best!!!? pathetic, even by gamer standards
My current pc has more power and a better graphics card than the ps4 or xbox 720 will have, FACT.
Another win!? Are you kidding me!? Just take a look at the very first screenshot! Look at how terrible and jagged the X360′s textures look. Don’t even get me started on the character details. The PS3 wins this H2H hands down.
I wonder why the no show from our beloved friend,
any how you can really start to see that the ps3 is topping out more regularly with more post processing effects due to the handy spus.
Is it just me or do i see motion blur on some of the screen shots for ps3 and they are absent on 360?
“the upside is there is more raw performance for computing there than there is on 360″ -John Carmack
Is it just me or are the Textures Slightly less… Blocky? on ps3? i mean, the some of the textures look like a tetras game on Xbox and curves on ps3
Yo G.a.S., you elitist gamer wannabe, do you realize that no one gives a heck about your stinking PC power house? We still get better exclusive games for the PS3 anyhow, and we also have the fan to torture the poor xbots boys. A pleasure that owning your ugly PC you will never have.
BTW you know that a PS3 know costs less than your GPU, do you? Maybe it’s time for you to buy one. Ah, and a real computer elitists owns a MACBOOK, better if with retina display, not those shitty pieces of crap running smelly Windows!
if pc is the best platform,so to chose which is the best, compare them with PC who is the most closer to the PC version

PS3 IS BETTER
You are blind as f*#k..the 360 version has worse texture detail, its blurry compared to the Ps3 version.the only diffrence is the Ps3 version looks washed out which is Bs i don’t have that issue on my Tv..
THE CHEAP CHILDRENS DVD PLAYER loses this one! Just adjust contrast so that blacks are crushed and you too can have THE CHEAP CHILDRENS DVD PLAYER look!
Xbox version seems to have slightly better anti-aliasing. However the PS3 version appears to have higher resolution textures. On the walls at least.
Very very close this one. Unless there is a frame rate difference, I’d give this one to the PS3.
Alot of PS3 fans there , so hardcore
No, it isn’t like that. It’s just that you were totally wrong. The X360 version is worse. Unless you guys wanna keep playing the game “darker is better”. There are plenty of games here were the X360 got the majority of votes. This isn’t the case simply because the X360 lost. Capisci?
lol at fanboys on both sides here, who all talk balls generally.
here’s the df breakdown of main points from their face off.
it’s hilarious reading the comments on here and comparing to the reality of things
“Even to the most particular of image quality pedants, there isn’t much to criticise in the treatment of either console version here. This time, both releases have the same implementation of the depth of field effect, which flares up starkly behind enemies just as you make a swipe or lunge with your sword. Neither version – PC included – appears to offer SSAO in this case, but Sony’s platform does get to show off a use of light shafts in tandem with the 360′s, manifesting as a trail of light leading from building edges
he good news continues: resolution appears to be matching at 1280×720, with each format treating this base image to a pass of post-process anti-aliasing. The specifics of precisely which form happens to be in use here can be difficult to pin down. However, enabling FXAA on PC gives us near-identical results to the solution used on 360, which gives us a good indication. A big tell-tale sign of its effect is in the blurriness around fine details, such as plants on the ground. The leaves appear smudged over – certainly by comparison to the PS3′s choice of AA. By comparison, the implementation on Sony’s format doesn’t blur these details to the same extent, and can often provide a clearer image. The downside is that a slight shimmering effect is evident on sharp-lined patterns such as grills or grates. Again, we can turn to the PC version’s alternative MLAA mode for a point of reference, where in the place of the blurred surface details, we see a repeatable shimmering in likewise scenarios.

he rate of tearing on PS3 is mostly a factor during cut-scenes and we don’t see an equivalent level of visual degradation on 360 in these moments. It’s clear both consoles are adopting a target of 30FPS, with an adaptive v-sync logic that permits frames to tear when under heavy load.
Frame-rate is generally solid on PS3, however, and sticks to a smooth 30FPS standard for much of play. In the worst-case scenario, a return boat trip to the pub sees the 360 version capped to the 20FPS line, in place of any tearing whatsoever, while we get a drop to 26FPS at lowest on PS3. During actual gameplay there’s little to divide the two versions, but Sony’s hardware does momentarily struggle more during a walk around the Hound Pits area. “
xbox 360 epic win
How is it a win blurry textures, lower texture resolution, means better?Pc>Ps3>360 get your facts right.
Some games looks better on ps3 some on xbox 360
The textures of the Xbox 360 version not only suffered from being heavily compressed, it’s also blurred out as side-effect of having implemented FXAA. The PS3 version, on the other hand, has more detailed textures and its edge-smoothly method also seems to be occasionally better than its Xbox 360 counterpart. Graphics-wise, I’d say the PS3 version has the advantage here.
Of course, according to Digital Foundry, performance tends to favor the Xbox 360 as screen-tearing occurs more often in its PS3 counterpart. However, it’s worth noting that it is the PS3 version that managed to stay closest to the targeted 30fps, as the Xbox 360 version can dip down to 20 frames a times (however brief the case might be.)
That aside, after The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, I would assume that PS3-only owners would be more appreciative towards screen-tearing.
That aside, Dishonored truly is an incredible game. I haven’t felt this great playing a stealth game since Deus Ex : Human Revolution. I’m currently working on going through missions without killing anyone (feels awesome.)
Geh! suarez07 summoned the wall of texts before I could finish writing my comment. Mine feels redundant now…
sorry mate, too much time on hands and a genuine distaste for fanboy twaddle compelled me to write that lol
will have to buy this game when i have time and funds on hand, as hearing many good things about it, and you are saying the same
Best thing about PS3 Skyrim is the loading times! Xbox has me waiting forever!!!!!!
The 30 fps of the PS3 won me over the 20 of the 360.
The static pictures are almost the same, what matters here is the performance.
for those who vote Xbox……..are you kidding me? Look at those horrid textures!!!!! largest PS3 win margin in quite a while! Performance will probably tie it out though………..
I got ps3 vision yesterday,I love this game and the visual is great..but there were few screen tearing issue need to deal with.
Am I right in thinking that PS3 was the lead platform here?
I’ve got to admit I’m surprised that the PS3 actually looks nicer, and apparently it has a smoother framerate too (But has higher tearing in cutscenes, or something like that).
The one thing I prefer on the 360 over the PS3 though, is the shadows, especially on that first screenshot, the shadow just looks so much nicer… however, it also shows off a horrendous texture on the 360 (Even if the PS3 one isn’t much better… but meh)
Overall I’d definitely give this one to the PS3.
Digital foundry have done there face off, pretty much the same , slightly more tearing on ps3 but 360 exhibits some dodgy textures, can we just all agree that whatever console you have get this game , only on the 2nd mission and already its the best thing ive played this year, its one of those games that when youre not playing it youre thinking about playing, money well spent.
I prefer the screenshots of the ps3 version as well, but i’ve prefered 360 screenshots in the past and it’s ended up losing the full h2h when all the analysis was done.
Screenshots can be very misleading.
I’ve read the full face off of this game, it’s pretty much a tie unless you hate screen tearing(ps3 has more).
Looking forward to getting it on pc once i’ve finished off borderlands 2.
In the face off, they said the PS3 had more screen tearing in the cut scenes, but hardly any in game. The 360 also has in game screen tearing.
or frame drops (xbox has more)
‘Though a stealth-based game, you’ll still find yourself in situations where fighting back is the only way through. As far as explosive, combat-heavy scenes go, we see little change in terms of frame-rate dips and tearing levels. The 360 stabilises at the target frame-rate for longer spells, while the PS3 drops to 25FPS and loses v-sync where necessary. The exception once again is the busy Golden Cat Bathhouse stage, where each format tears frames constantly while in the thick of it.’
Both versions drop frames it’s true, but there’s no doubt the 360 generally has a framerate advantage over the majority of clips tested on DF.
Awwwww… Look at little Android123; He’s all grown up, now.
Good to see, you finally taking those “brain excersise” classes after school… If you keep this up, you may just get that smilly face sticker;
As for the game, maybe Bethesda is finally learning, to allow their developers to program and port games the smart way. Though, this is truly one ugly fucking game, though; Overall, I’d give this game a tie, simply do to the fact that the developer managed to sqeeze all detail in for both consoles (not including PC, which I’m sure, mops the floor with both console versions).
But the shitbox version is blurrier so, it’s a PS3 win for me…
lm absolute ao. you Xbots make me laugh. Always running to DF like school children when you don’t like what you see here. Both LOT & DF have contradicted each other this time around. Just accept it for once in your shallow lives.
@SAMCHEZ77
i think at some point, everyone here is a little guilty of that; especially, if you factor in the fact that Lens of Truth has been generally lacking these days with their “analysis”… …really doesn’t leave much chose, dude!
But I do agree with you; and that’s mainly because DF is a completely “pro” shitbox fan-nerd site… You ever notice, when they’re doing their face offs, they generally tend to (conveinently) neglect or write-off alot of 360 discrepancies an/or just choose to ignore them all together? I personally don’t buy into it, even if the face off favors PS3; Unlike the shitbox fan-nerds here, I don’t want to be “given” a win for an overall, shitty console port. I’m not a PC gamer but, I know a better gaming platform when I see one. These days, console ports of a PC game is like, taking hair clippings from a fatman’s ball-sack…
Well the frame rate holds up when your play the actual missions,It does tear but nothing that ruins the game. Also Ps3 version uses MLAA which for the Ps3 hardware is the best AA solution for it.I keep saying use MLAA over FXAA for Ps3 games, this game proves once again MLAA is the best solution for Ps3 games. If Naughty Dog uses it now their is a reason…
The disc space on 360 is less than 4GB while on PS3 it’s over 7GB. Not sure why the massive discrepancy. There’s 5.1 LPCM and the odd slightly better texture but that doesn’t explain the 3GB+ difference. Maybe the 4GB+ mandatory install has something to do with it. Shame DF never bothered to explain it.
Sometimes developers use the extra space on the blu-ray disk to put in duplicated files. This means that the laser in the blu-ray drive has to travel shorter distances when switching between certain files. Basically it shortens loading times.
True but that’s a really old method, I thought it was ditched years ago.
More then likely it’s uncompressed on Ps3 that’s why its near double in size.
Ps3 epic wins
even digital foundry, who are the best, even stated teh 360 version is blurry and ps3 has a greater depth of field effect. it offers 5.1 lpcm and is uncompressed. i noticed the blurriness immediately on 360. its ugly. ill take some screen tearing for a better image and depth of field anyday. ps3 all the way on this one
Actually they said the DOF effect is the same on this game.
The 360 definitely has a bit more blur though,I can’t deny that.
Just looking at the screen shots here the 360 version is fugly. It’s not even the blurry look to it but the major, major crushed blacks. Thats not a good sign when you can’t even make out the details behind the characters head. Not sure why all these tweens seem to think that the darker crushed black levels is a standard or good looking
I think the PS3 has the advantage here with its sharper anti aliasing method. I suspect that the game streams in textures which would explain the difference in comparison picture 1 which is then mysteriously gone in picture 2 (apart from gamma/contrast which amplifies compression artifacts). It would seem that the original textures are the same on both system. Installing the game on the Xbox 360 could possibly help with texture streaming so I’m going to ignore the texture difference. I’ve never liked the black crush that the Xbox 360 employs as it erases details in dark environments so that’s another point in PS3′s favor.
In some of the photo’s, the shadows seem more aggressive on the 360. Textures are more sharp and pronounced on PS3, the choice of anti-aliasing on PS3 is also better and more more sharper (highly noticeable on some of character close ups and by the prison bars), but as a result, it looks like there’s a little bit more shimmer on the edges on the PS3 screens. It does however look good on both; i’d say go with whatever platform you prefer, and for me; it’s the PS3.
Yea MLAA isn’t the best AA solution out their but it works best for Ps3 hardware.I will take some shimmer then the game looking blurrier then it should anyday.
To me the image quality does not matter. I got it for 360 out of convenience, because I like achievements, and because I like the controller. What is important is framerate . So far from what I am used to on Xbox Dishonored runs ok but motion is far from smooth. I’d say probably 28 frames instead of stable 30. It is noticeable. When you play outside some textured are too low res to keep up with frame rate standard. I am sure it is same way on PS3. But who knows, we need a performance test.
Massive Playstation win…:) Nice
PS3 win??? WTF!?
ha console peasants….. u do realise that your shitty ps3 and even shittier xbox are obsolete yet u still fight over which is best!!!? pathetic, even by gamer standards.
My current pc has more power and a better graphics card than the ps4 or xbox 720 will have, FACT.
Lol my 4 year old gateway DX with a intel duo and 450GTS bitch slaps both Ps3 and 360.Getting me a Pc next year AMD Fx-8150 and a ati 7870 8gigs of DDR3 2133Mhz ram that alone will bitchslap a Ps4 and w/e Ms brings out.
Up to the release everything suggested that this should be an Xbox win. But apparently Arkane wasn’t bullshitting (like their publisher always does) about having a dedicated ps3-team working to make the versions on par. Looks like, all in all, their pretty much identical except for aa-integration which seems a little to aggressive on Xbox (makes it a little blurry) but as a trade-off the ps3 version has a slight shimmering in some places…. but, gotta say that the graphics are hardly impressive, but i think the design and style sort of makes up for it. Looking forward to playing this on the weekend. I’m probably going to go with the pc-version though…
Oh lord, i made a grammatical error on the internet. BRING ON THE TROLLS! yeah, sorry.. it’s they’re and not their in the third line.
Did anyone watch the vids on df the ps3 tears big time and look at the framerate up in the corner the ps3 version is up and down non stop 28 25 were the Xbox stays at 30 in all the same places better performance will always be a winner that’s problay why thay only showed the Xbox version on build up to the game and don’t kid your self on these screen shots it doesent look anywhere near that bad on ether console I will get the Xbox vs being able to do a full install makes a big differnce and skyrim loads faster on Xbox installed so I’m not sure we’re that guy got the Xbox makes him wait forever just install it its only 3gig . And plus nearly every review has said that the ps3 vs of this game does tear quit bad it must if its being getting a mention just watch DFs comparsion vids and make your on minds up
What a load of bs. Every single review and comparison have said that the tearing is absolutely miminal, and occours very rarely on each platform. Though it must be noted that the ps3 did have a slight bit more, and the tradeoff for that is a generally more stable framerate and slightly better visual fidelity (and i mean very slight, as to be non-existant). So.. Oblivion34, take your bs somewhere else, and let the grownups discuss. And plz learn some damn english, i had to spell my way through that mess you just wrote. This is the closest we will get to parity i believe, and if you have seen these side by side you will know they’re bloody well identical. I single torn frame here or there does not a game make or break… so piss off you little fanboy.
OBLIVION34, BS..Th 360′s framerate drops to 20fps in a few places. The PS3 has a much more stable framerate
The screenshots here are inconsistent, some of the 360 ones looks better, and some the PS3.General differences are the 360 version has darker gamma and better shadowing. The PS3 version has better texture filtering(look at the backgrounds)better fog effects and less jaggies in general.According to DF its stability vs screen tear.
This reminded me Dead island, the PS3 had better textures and cleaner image overall but had immense amount of tearing, while the 360 had better lighting and shadowing with blurrier compressed textures and smoother performance, almost zero tearing..
The parity in this comparison isn’t gamebreaking though if not very minor, both versions are looking good, cool concept with great art direction.
Jesus crist just watch the fucking vid you blind fools are you telling me that you did not see the ps3 tearing up and the framerate going 28 25 26 27 20 near constant and the Xbox hit 20 once for about 3 seconds through the whole vid if your telling me you dident see that then there’s no hope for your utter denial it’s right in your face and still won’t see it that’s fine if you want to come across as mentally ill go ahead .
Learn English “does not a game make or break” its does not make or break a game you moron and I’m a fanboy your the one pretending you can’t see it little boy that is true fanboyness
Actually that sentence is perfectly valid, and i know That Even though english is a secondary language to me, you daft twat. Furthermore, you wrote something completely messy and impossible to read, so don’t try to educate anyone. Besides, i don’t really care what you think; i’m a professional gamecritic, so i can’t really be a fanboy, because it would work against my professionalism in my field. I use this site, so when i can only recommend one version, i recommend the best. besides that i enjoy the debate, but blind pre-school twats, really just tricks me off sometimes. Enjoy the games, buy the version you think looks the best, and don’t rag on the competing format just because your mommy would only buy you one console. Damn… finally done with this rant !
Better shadows and lighting on the Xbox version. The PS3 version looks like turd nuggets.
The lighting is the same, for w/e reason the gamma isn’t right on the Ps3 version.Lets also not forget that the game is blurrier on 360 and as lower texture resolution then the Ps3 version.Thats the real deal you blind fanboys don’t get.Plenty of times the 360 won these ”face off” not this one however if you own a Ps3 and 360 you pick up the Ps3 version.Their isn’t Mp so Xbl and Psn doesn’t matter.
Anyone know what the 25 mb patch on the ps3 was for? It seems to of improved stability, anyway i think its fair to say this is a tie with performance nod to 360 and image clarity to ps3, finally a developer other than rocksteady that can get unreal engine working well on ps3, what a game this is, best thing I’ve played in ages.
easy win for the ps3
The bushes look better on Xbox. Otherwise I think I’ll be getting this one on PS3.
PS3 win, and I have it on 360. I’ve found it’s a incredibly annoying game to get it too look right. If I set it to their recommendations, then the whole game looks washed out and loses it colour. But if I set it to darker, it looks great but then some parts are too dark… I can’t win.
Had the same problem and sold it in frustration, have the ps3 version now and its a much clearer game, im not dissing the 360 i love it but sometimes there gamma settings are rubbish, it was even worse with mass effect 3, ruined it for me.
Ps3 wins
Just get there my opinion and now go all to me … Oh fans go out of here
Who have PS3 will say PS3 is better , who have Xbox 360 will say Xbox 360 is better
I think these days all the hard cores have both consoles, for god’s sake they are 6 yrs old… but your statement is not entirely true, some gentleman from xbox have confessed that the game is indeed looks better on PS3. (above our comments)
I agree but i can look at this with my console bias behind me.I think the game looks better overall on Ps3,the Frame rate and screen tear is the same in gameplay. If you own just a Ps3 or 360 then both versions are fine if you own a Ps3 and 360 pick up the Ps3 version. If you have a ok Pc and you don’t want trophies or achivement’s get the Pc version.
PS3 fanboy psychology:
One version looks and performs better.
One version looks like crap and performs like crap.
PS3 fanboys insist that the version that looks and performs like crap is the superior version.
PS3 fanboys want the one that looks and performs like crap.
You’re seeing a whole team of psychologist aren’t you.
Lemme ask you something son, what is prettiest game on xbox ? gears of war 3 ?!!!! Halo 4 ?!!! heh getta f*@k outta here!!!
Dude. Its a relatively ugly game that is clearer and better looking on PS3. Stop complaining seriously. You look like a tard.
Well you should see a optometrist to get your eye’s fixed. You described a typical fanboy such as yourself.I have yet to see you comment purely on facts. So calling other fanboy’s just show’s how much of a hypocrite you really are.
Funny… i don’t see the normal trolls commenting when when a game actually looks identical/slightly better on PS3…
but to be honest, the art style hides the bad visuals.
And about the consoles being worse than PC’s… they always have been and always will be. the only reason to have one is for their Exclusives or for games made for them and shitily ported over to PC (that way you avoid the shit storm of crap from lazy PC ports… Also, its great to have every console, just to be able to shop in every bargin bin, sure the graphics are worse, but you can still have fun
lol. extreemists of any platform ruin gaming, wether Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or PC.)
It looks better on the 360. The only screenshot that looks better on the PS3 is the first, but you can easily turn up the brightness on this game. The colors are more saturated and the pictures look sharper on the 360.
Um… Thats not better sharpness thats more contrast and is easily matched by changing the brightness of the game on 360 or ps3. Also, i can see multiple textures that are notisably worce of the 360′s images weather it is due to pop in or if they are just generally lower res we dont know, so please, the games look identical aside from the brigher PS3 and darker 360 and the blocky textures (that could just be pop in) but if you believe that the 360 version is superior then i respect your opinion. Now try to respect mine when i say that this is a game i would rather buy for my pc than my ps3/360 just cos it looks like more of a PC game, sure it wont need a beastly machine to run it amazingly well, but it looks like it would be better with a mouse and keyboard.
hell, if anything the 360 is alittle less sharp and more blury judging by those screens and the colors are so close it isnt even funny. Just look at the screens, be honest and stop fabricating shit for a game that doesnt look all that different for once.
Everyone buy the PS3 version for emergencies–in case Poison Control tells you to induce vomiting.
Umm i would take the Ps3 version over the 360 version anyday. You can have your lower texture resolution and blurrier game, from other screen shots it looks like the Ps3 has more effects going on.First screenshot the Fog is toned down on the 360 version even Gamespot said the 360 has less effects in areas compared to both Ps3/Pc version’s so get off Ms dik and use your eyes.
Who ever voted for The Micro$oft box is having very bad eye sight or has been brain washed or is an imbecile.
Good luck with your shit box.
Oh, by the way, play the PC version.
Who ever voted for The Sony box is having very bad eye sight or has been brain washed or is an imbecile.
Good luck with your gay station.
Oh, by the way, play the PC version. Same bro
Yeah a GT430 that could be had for $40 shipped to you, will run this game on the PC you are currentlt using. And will run the game at MAX settings 1080p at 60FPS.
40$ that is all.
…You already own a PC
Lol… A 430 can run it 1080 max? This really isnt a graphical marvel is it.. Well.. The only reason I would get this on pc instead of console is if there is mod support. We’ll have to wait and see.
ps3 seems to have a stronger sense of i don’t give a crap
although I agree with the comments on the blur effect, but I chose the Xbox 360 version because of the analysis. It runs a lot better on the Xbox than the PS3. If you disagree then see the analysis. More consistent frames and less screen tears on the Xbox.
This doesn´t looks like this on my xbox 360
