Welcome back for another exciting Head2Head! This week we take a closer look at THQ’s Darksiders II for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This time around players will take control of the Horseman Death, instead of his brother War. Come join us as we slash our way through the apocalypse to uncover any differences that may lie beneath!

Tags: *To ensure color accuracy from the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U output, the PlayStation 3 has RGB Full Range set to "Full" and Super White "On", and the Xbox 360 has Reference Level set to "Expanded" and HDMI Color Space set to "RGB". You’re such an idiot? Like your ps3? Enjoy it. Real gamers own both anyways. I do have PS+ and their game RENTALS are a cool way to give users “free games” that Sony selects, but once you are off the subscription the games turn off and ou cannot pay them. Hence they are Rentals.
I own both of those and the wii. Ps3 exclusives are great, but generally there are many more downloadable games on Xbox

Having played the pc version, I can tell you it’s a ropey port with low res textures aplenty(probably ported from the ps3 version).
The console versions will be an interesting comparison though.

just about identical, only differences I saw was that a far off mountain on the 360 version as more jaggy and the picture of the birds head the 360 had better texture on the big feather. other than that pretty much the same.
Only difference is that Xbox is SUPERIORR…ARrrr… goodness I’ve just come again…

lol.. i already got part 1 on ps3, so this comparison really doesn’t affect my mind if i go ps3 again. sometimes the sequels go backwards and i need to get the better, so a different console they go
parity it seems, which was pretty much the case for the first game once the screen tear was patched, either way we all get a kick ass sequel to a kick ass game.
This is really close.. to close to call. In a lot of the shots the ps3 look a little darker, and a little more defined, but then on page 2 the xbox sleems to be slightly sharper in the textures, though more jaggy. But really, except for gamme-differences, these look 99 % identical. And on the go, nobody can tell. Good job by vigil (except for the fact that the game supposedly is buggy as hell).

I have a hard time seeing a clear advantage. There are some differences but they aren’t always consistent. What makes this even harder is that the screenshots aren’t completely in sync. I’m calling this a tie. Anyway, this graphics style is fairly forgiving when it comes to subtle differences. Now it’s up to performance.

Darksider 1 had crazy screening tearing on 360 and the PS3 did not. I know I bought the 360 version.
Now for Darsiders 2 according to multiple review sites (Gamespot / Giant Bomb) the 360 deeps in frame rate performance and has quite a few bugs.
Lol, well I have to go with Xbox 360 cos its SUPERIOR, well priced, does not play blu rays and well… Because John Carmack has me tied up with a gun to my head… but still!

If you bought the 360 version then you’d know there was a patch released to cap the frame rate and v-sync.
In some instances, the PS3 version seems to have better edge-smoothing than its Xbox 360 counter. However, I did notice that, overall, texture filtering seems a tad better in the Xbox 360 version but the difference so minuscule (like that between 1 and 1.05) that it will easily be overlooked while playing. As expected from Vigil Games, the quality is consistently delivered across platforms (which isn’t exactly good for PC crowds, I supposed.) Let’s see what’s the performance analysis has to show.

Dont see any difference between any of them. Got the first one for free on PSN+ and actually enjoyed it. My only complaint with the first one was the combat which consisted on pressing the square button over and over again. Does any know if the combat has been improved at all or if its just mashing the same button again?
Also, as much as he is annoying i will admit to giggling a wee bit to some of BUYING1999 replies on this comparison.

As gamers, we all know they’re are a whole lot of dicks amongst our ranks who pick arbitrary fights when really, the fact that we are all gamers should be a reason to get along regardless of console preference.
It does not make sense when the fans pick sides like you work for them, the competition is for the companies, its what keeps the industry on its toes.

Xbox is from Microsoft, GAMES are MADE on computers. Is WAY easier to test a game on Xbox then in PS3. If you want to know the diference between the “Superior Xbox” and the “Internet ready blu-ray”, compare the exclusive’s graphics. You will see that the “Internet Ready Blu-ray” will kick 360 ass.

while I agree that it may have gone too far (way too many posts) as long as he tunes it down I think it’s a great way to keep BUYING in his place (I might just grab myself a BUYING account just to troll the troll)
Just like Sleeping Dogs H2H on DF, this game too is running at a higher resolution on the Xbox 360. Look at the bird comparison to see for yourself.
I just wanted to state I got the ps3 version and I am noticing no issues like screen tearing or anything. I usually am a 360 person but most thq games seem to run better on the ps3 and I had the previous game on the ps3 so i picked that. Sleeping dogs on the other had is still sitting wrapped up for my 360 maybe I will get to it tomorrow or the next day.
Most titles published by THQ actually look and perform better on the Xbox 360.
After saints row 3 and the last darksiders I would beg to differ. But overall I think most multiplatform games are better on the 360. But Honestly THQ does not make many games that appeal to me. So maybe I am completely informed.
Well, THQ is kind of a wild card… you never really know, but yeah, very often theres a slight favour of the xbox, but if you look at recent titles like Space Marine, the ps3 won that one big time. So, you never know with those THQ-guys… he he
I’m not sure where you got the idea that the PS3 “won that one big time.” The native resolution of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is 1152×640 for the PS3, and 1200×720 for Xbox 360 version. Both versions run smoothly at a seemingly constant 30fps, completely V-synced. If anything, I think both were pretty close to the level of one another.
The colors are more saturated on ps3…it’s glaring!
@Bloodios: Well, i don’t know exactly what resolution they run, but the ps3 version (of the warhammer game) got better textures (by quite a lot) better lighting and better AA, so yeah i think it won it big time.. take a look at the screens dude, they speak for themselves. If you really can’t see that the ps3 takes that one, you’ve got to be one blind console-fanboy.

Well, i hardly ever use my xbox (sort of considering giving it to my little cousin, since he really wants one) because i play all the great multiplats on pc, and i really don’t want t shell out for online anymore (i’ve gotten used to gettin’ it for free, if you know what i mean WINK WINK NOTCH NOTCH).. he he..

This game does not worth the money, when I got it from ebay brand new to add it to my collection of original games, Broke the seal and checked the contents and I found something that really angered me: THE INFAMOUS
ONLINE PASS!! I was really pissed off as all online passed games are no more than incomplete games for me, so I sold it to another friend, after installing the game into my JTAG, converted it with NXE2GOD. Now I sold the game and I have it with the online pass and all DLCS, I preffer to crack them Rather than nuying them. Online pass is an outrage and has to be stopped,

Wow.. when you see the performance analysis, it makes it very apparent, that the only reason these to look any different in the screens here, is because LOT’s tv setup isn’t spot on. These are identical, and seem to perform identical too. Not af beautiful game by any stretch (except for the nice artwork), but at least it’s close to a 100 % perfect parity.

And yes, they are pretty much identical even down to performance… well actually it seems like the 360 has a little more issues with performance just like the previous game. :3
The 360 one has no extra issues cerna, a few more drops on the cutscenes(briefly)which is bizarre, but the gaming framerate is unfortunately exactly the same as the ps3 version.
That means both versions dropping to 22fps during heavy action
There’s a great fix out for the pc version though that gets rid of the vsync stutter that has been annoying everyone.
Now it’s a silky smooth 60fps without a single hitch

Now where was i… Oh yeah, darksiders 2 = identical across consoles apparently. But, i still think this will wait until it ends in the bargain-bin.

Consoles versions a tie as we thought, pc one the better buy but a bare bones port.
At least it ends the run of defeats for the ps3 in these h2h/face offs.
Well, except for Sleeping Dogs, i would say most differences have been so tiny as to be irrelevant in these head2heads – for a long time (ok, future soldier was pretty bad). And as a mostly pc guy, i think a lot of those should just have been ties… and, it really does seem to me that a bit of bias in the 360′s did shine through… And yeah.. some of them were ubi-titles.. and though ubi makes great games, their a lazy bunch at times (at least where console-parity is concerned, it just seems to be the “that will do” mentality) all the way.. But, i’m actually more pissed about all the barebones pc-ports. My new GT670 needs to do some work
My ps3 is ever only turned on when there is a great exclusive to play, and i can’t remember the last time i fired op the old xbox ..
well i bought sleeping dogs for 360 and darksiders 2 for ps3 and i think thats worked out right, i new vigil would come through for the ps3 as they nailed it with the first game, so parity has been achieved, as i side note i downloaded sleeping dogs demo on the ps3 just to see how bad it was and can assure anyone with only ps3 it still looked and played pretty darn good, its better on 360 no doubt but its not a car crash on ps3.
360 failed bad on the first darksiders, esp in performance… I would guess PS3 will shade it again… but it looks closer this time… but the game although good is harldy a world beater is it?.
I don’t understand. Are the face=offs ever coming back? I feel like all we’ve gotten are screenshot comparisons and not the full detail head2heads of the past. I’ve been waiting to hear form you guys so I can make an informed decision on Max Payne 3 and Sleeping Dogs, but..

Both consoles are equal unless your a pixel counter, PS3 does have a slight advantage if its pushed to the max.
Xbox 360 is my console of choice but I’m not bitter about PS3 having some exclusives with great graphics, real gamers don’t bother about differences, its all about the game play.
Gameplay is what makes a great game, its what makes you go back again and again to play some more, if you don’t believe me ask the millions of COD players, they sure don’t play those games for the cutting edge graphics.
