Head2Head – Dante’s Inferno Analysis: We go Head2Head with Dante’s Inferno for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

This week the Lens of Truth had the chance to “go to hell” with Dante’s Inferno, via Play N Trade Oviedo! This much anticipated title from Visceral Games has been surrounded by controversy since its unveiling at E3 2009 and has been compared to the God of War franchise on many occasions. So which version of Dante’s Inferno is the definitive version and which one should take a dip in the Lake of Fire? Read on to find out!

Graphics: Dante’s Inferno is a good looking game, but it won’t turn any heads with its visuals. While the environments and characters look good, they are no comparison to the assets in God of War III. However, Visceral Games managed to match the graphics one-to-one between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. All elements such as texture quality, lighting and even color/levels match perfectly. If it weren’t for our labels, this would be one tough blind taste test.

Performance: Dante’s Inferno continues to dominate our tests, this time with its performance. The game runs at a silky, smooth 60fps during combat and a respectable 30fps during cut scenes. We never experienced a frame drop nor a frame tear on either the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Cross platform performance doesn’t get any better than this. Here are the full stats:

Loading: Just like Darksiders: Wrath of War, Dante’s Inferno masks the load times with pre-rendered and in-game cinematics. You’ll want to stick around for the beautifully rendered cinematics by the talented folks at Blur Studios.
