It’s a tie. Some screens the PS3 version looks blurrier, and other screens, the 360 version looks blurrier. In screen #2 & #5 (which are the same), the 360 version is missing part of the tree on the left. So far this game looks like a blurry mess (even though it’s a MP beta). Hopefully the final product is way better than this.
A tie? What shit are you smoking? The PS3 does the unexpected and completely obliterates the 360. Yet, it is still a beta so…
The PS3′s textures are significantly higher-resolution in almost every screenshot shown here.
Yes, extremely unexpected. But there is no denying the PS3 is far better in this comparison. Looks like this may be the year the PS3 truely bares it’s teeth.
Go home Xbox. You’re drunk.
Neither of them come out on top, they are both blurry and run at crap fps.
I find it really hard to take you guys seriously now…
Anyways, there isn’t a meaningful difference, at least not to me. Looks to me like a tie, perhaps the ps3 version is slightly better in more areas than the 360 version. Anyways, it’s too close to call for this one.
Well demo for PS3 have lower framerate and resolution (1152×720 on 360 and 1024×720 on the PS3).
But better streaming than X360 – assets load faster on PS3.
!!!Overall X360 has sharper picture!!! but depending on screenshot selection – like the ones above wher is more of those that favour Sony console – you can easily “prove” that PS3 is sharper – due to unreliable and unpredictable bluring by shader based style of AA.
Choose different ones and X360 wins in landslide…
Check “Demo showdown: Crysis 3 multiplayer beta” by DigitalFoundry for another view. The one where X360 wins
Apparently it kinda looks better on PS3 … but save your time, either way this game looks awful on consoles, i’ve played it’s just a blur fest… nothing can beat BF3′s graphic!
Killzone 3? Halo 4? To name a few. Unless you’re talking PC………..
Good lord… Some PS3 shots actually look a little sharper but if that’s the case… I can’t imagine how incredibly horrifying the 360 version looks in person (no Xbox Live Gold for me, can’t test) considering the PS3 beta looks like absolute ASS.
The Amiga version is way better than the Atari ST version.
Looks like video games.
Some textures look better on PS3 but, like Crysis 2, the game will probably run at a higher resolution and framerate on 360.
PS3 and 360 are outdated, we need new consoles.
You on crack fool! lol
Seriously though, judging by these screenshots, they both are at same resolution, as the ps3 looks sharper anyway. You couldnt have a console running lower resolution and then having higher resolution textures, and it still ending up looking sharper, that’s crack man logic.
However, it’s quite feasible it will run like a dog on ps3, as it runs like dog on console full stop, and they might have had to trade off performance for looks.
I wouldnt stake money on 360 version being the definitive console version though, both have issues
@Suarez and the man with the mouth of a women speaks yet again. Bravo girl.
@MrAssBuster69 Why do you say that?
@MRASSBUSTER69
Oh the irony…
Mrassbuster,
Did you fail to notice the jovial nature of my first comment, which mimicked some of the fanboy comments on here, and which I contrasted with a “seriously though” and gave A sensible opinion, which clearly highlights the folly of the OP’s comment. Unless you care to explain why a developer would implement what appears to be higher Red textures, but be running at lower base resolution? How can a base resolution be lower, but the textures appear sharper?
I’ve a theory that it’s only the cut scenes running at lower res , as most the in game looks fine, but they still look like the PS3 might have some advantages and vice versa.
The PS3 version looks better here but… I’m not sure if because it’s the β or something but the graphics looks downright horrible, a freaking blurry mess. I also find it very disturbing that there are many instances of textures and geometry pop-ins even though it’s already streaming off the HDD… That’s freaking worse than id Tech 5 and Unreal Engine 3!
By the way, why is Crytek so obsessed with setting 1080p as the output resolution for the PS3 version? They should know by now that its upscaler doesn’t work and having to manually disable 1080i and 1080p from the list of output resolutions is a pain in the rear…
Both versions are garbage. PC wins.
definitely a PS3 win. the 360 has better AA but the PS3 was way better textures and the trees were fuller.
here’s a real comparison http://www.videogameszone.de/Crysis-3-Xbox360-235315/News/Crysis-3-im-interaktiven-Grafikvergleich-Xbox-360-gegen-PC-1046306/
I am looking forward for the same comparison of GTA V!! *GOSH* I can’t even imagine how an empty screen at extreme settings will look like!!
…..what? lol
You do realize that the PC can emulate the xbox 360 right? Not that I would considering I already have a 360.
I remember ps3 vision crysis 2 already pissed me a lot (yes,1024×720 resolution and glitch as hell multiplayer)
Oh dear, that graphic on console O_o…nice information you find.
@Drakesinception Really? An X360 emulator? So, do us a favor! Turn off the antivirus in your crappy Windows system, download and install any of them. Then post a video on youtube showing how much fun you have disinfesting it!!!
There is no such a thing (yet) as an X360 or PS3 emulator. Not a working one at least. They are all scams. Sorry buddy, the PCs are powerful but still not that powerful to emulate the 2 consoles. Hell, not even PCSX2 is fully functional yet!! And that’s for the PS2 games.
Massive Playstation win
explain
@DRAKESINCEPTION
I’ll do it for him, much better textures (literally in every screen there’s an obvious difference in texture resolution) and more effects (the picture that shows the trees in the distance clearly shows the trees have more foliage effects on the PS3 than the 360) off course these could e glitches in the beta but as a comparison of screen shots this is an obvious win for PS3.
does the 360 have some sort of motion blur not on ps3? i ask because i am suprised to see this so clearly better on ps3, that was not the case with crysis 2 were the 360 had a resolution boost over ps3, either way there was not much in it and i suspect it will be a similar case here once the full analysis is done.
Cryengine3 = 360 win
Played it on both consoles. Both look like total shit. It actually hurts my eyes to play it
that missing tree is bothersome, shorter render distance maybe?,while i was trying it out i noticed so serious pop-in on the ps3 version and some pretty bad input lag(felt like 100ms on a crt). I dont mind input lag as much during a single player campaign, but on multiplayer it becomes a serious limitation, hopefully they will fix this.
Once again, an epic 360 win! The vastly superior 360 not only have much higher-resolution textures, but will also run at at an enormously 29 frames per second; the PS3 can only output a measly 28 frames. The result is like day and night, gamers. Yes,the Xbox proves once more that the analysis is in the box. If anyone is looking to upgrade to next gen before Christmas, you need to choose the next Xbox which features Betamax (a huge improvement over DVD) and in-game Dolby 5.1 and NO M – A – N – D – A – T – O – R – Y INSTALL…
While I’m happy that my console of choice (PS3) came out on top in this comparison, I do need to remind everyone about the BF3 Beta, and how the PS3 looked far better than the 360 because the 360′s download size was much smaller, so the textures were a lot blurrier. Multiplayer betas are not a good way to compare a game’s graphics, so nothing we see here is written in stone. BF3 on 360 ended up being a lot closer to the PS3 at the final release (once you installed the HD textures.) And this still isn’t putting performance into account.
How exactly did the PS3 come out on top?
it has less poopy textures, less jaggies and slightly less blurring,
between consoles that qualifies as a WIN , Its like this the 360 is a toyota camry, the ps3 is a honda accord and pc gets left out of the comparison because hes the Bugatti veyron supersport.
so i just signed up at this site because i want to ask: who here has a true unbiased opinion? I mean its a little hard to even gather a little information to decide what console to buy for (owning both systems and not having a preference), when just about every comment ends in some statement like PS3 FOREVER! or XBOX RULES! and everyone is calling each other stupid fan boys of the other console. I played the beta on both consoles on one tv at a time. Honestly on one television the PS3 looked far more sharp, and vibrant. Then moved both consoles to another television and it was the complete opposite. So everyone swallow your pride. In these photos i would have to say PS3 looks a little sharper which is weird because the first and second installment of this series looked a little sharper on the xbox.
You probably came to the wrong place for unbiased discussion ,but as for which one to buy idk but if you look at crysis 2 which is based on the same engine, the ps3 version though lacking frame rate and having a slightly lower resolution had more post-process effects and better water FX. The 360 lacked AF (look up Anisotropic Filtering if you don’t know what it is its important) and had better AA(Anti Aliasing {sharper}). I would imagine that crysis 3 would be an improvement for both. So based on that and the Beta I would lean toward ps3(only my opinion) but either one should be fine. Just get the version for the console for which you have the most friends on that’s always a safe bet.
As for the reason the comparison here is more “accurate”, is because L.O.T. don’t capture the images via a tv screen , its a direct capture from the ps3 or 360 with no filtering or post-process introduced by a tv that would skew the results, it isn’t perfect but its a whole lot better.
this feedback is quite tame compared to some, in the end if you have both as I do then go with what you’re user experience is, for me I ended up with crysis 2 on 360 but that will change to ps3 for this sequel as I feel it felt slightly smoother and had less pop in on the demo, of course this decision may still be wrong so I always check out Eurogamer for there faceoff, in the end there’s a lot of hot air expressed on here by people who love there particular console, you are nether going to find a site that pits 2 consoles against each other and have amicable comments in the feedback.
Lol
Yeah, don’t pay attention to the comment section my friend. It’s mainly friendly banter between people.
Just use the images and the analysis when it’s available to make your own decision. Digital foundry face off’s are good to use, if you unsure too, and together give you good balanced information to base decision on.
Like others have said, these differences will be fairly inconsequential tbh, and you won’t really notice when you playing with friends online (not that I think anyone will be playing this mp very long). Just pick up the version you have more friends playing on, and pad you prefer, as ultimately both versions will be very similar, as both consoles have own strengths and weakness, but are very similar in capability overall.
Only way you going to see major difference is to buy a good PC or wait for next gen consoles, and see if they port this
I have both, and the PS3 looks worse, hands down. I actually put them both on private match, went to the same place and compared them and jesus christ, crytek are awful at developing for the PS3!
Not to mention the framerate on PS3…
thanks for the replies guys. If I came off snippy its because I was up late comparing the two at my house because I was curios and very very bored. But its cool that its all friendly banter. Also I did pre order it for the PS3 even though I had the other two on XBOX. I figure i have just about every other multi plafform shooter on the 360 so why not get it on the PS3. Plus I already have the first one on the 360 so the free download included is usless. Anyways… totally wish I had a PC.
Tried them both. The game was running on both consoles , ps3 on hdmi2, xbox on the hdmi3.
I have to say that both of them look like shit and the 360 looked a bit better. The ps3 had some serious texture pop up problems , but both of them looked like -shit-.
The demo showdown is up at eurogamer, and unsurprisingly the 360 comes out on top.
Sharper visuals, slightly better framerate and higher res.
More proof here that screenshots can be misleading, mind you i was surprised how many people voted for the ps3 version here in the vote lol.
They both look as blurry as each other.
But the 360 is the version to go for it seems regarding the consoles anyway.
yes eurogamer has a faceoff up [dear god a faceoff of a beta what has this gen become] no mention from android of the superior streaming on ps3 you only mention 360 pluses as per usual, [i would imagine texture streaming is the reason the ps3 pics on here look better] anyway this looks like a copy and paste job if you felt crysis 2 was better on 360 thats the version to go for, but i will get the ps3 version, i played both betas and prefered it, thats just a personel thing if i was advising i would probably say go for 360 if youre a multiplayer fan or ps3 for campaign, either way it looks as if the multiplayer will be rubbish as the framerate on both goes south of 30fps and thats just no good online.
After looking at the df shots I suspect that the capture cards lot and df are using have some capture bias causing additional bluring , the other thing i noticed was that though the df shots look sharper in general, they have artifacting. They also appear to be resized from an already upscaled 1080p that would explain the extra bluring (the ps3 has scaling issues) and the artifacting.
the lot shots on the other hand have even more artifacts and are of lesser quality.
i wish there was a better way to capture screens , maybe a native 720p panel through hdmi with a digital camera would be the only way.
This game loos like shit. PC for this one by far.
Crysis 2 looked remarkably similar to the PC version (I owned both). The performance was fine in the 360 edition (no where near the PC of course). I imagine Crysis 3 will be less similar to its console cousins however, considering the fan backlash from the PC community about its textures, and basically how similar Crysis 2 looked to the console versions.
That said; ignoring the PC version – since it’ll obviously look WAY better (hopefully) – I personally am assuming that Crysis 3 will pretty much look/run much like Crysis 2. Considering it looked great, and also considering Crysis 2 looked very similar on BOTH the PS3 and XBOX 360; I’m just going to assume the final product will decimate the graphics found in the multiplayer beta, and minus a unnoticeable horizontal resilutuon edge on the 360, I’m assuming both games will be virtually identical when they release feb 19th.
I’m getting it for PS3 myself, since I ‘collect’ videogames, and neither the XBOX 360 nor PC DVD discs are as scratch/wear resistant as a PS3 Blu-ray Disc. Have any of you guys seen how rediculously easy it is to scratch a 360 disc!? I’ve had to resurface most mine – love my 360, but its very hard to scratch PS3 discs.
Think I’m missing something, but they both look awfully similar.
But if you guys are saying a PS3 win then I’m not going against the majority.
Gotta say, Dead Space 3 looks a million times better on any console than this.
Oh dear…the PS3 is just getting slaughtered at every turn! Game after game after game the Xbox shows its superiority. That PS4 can’t come soon enough, right fanboys?
I played both the PS3 and 360 multiplayer betas and wasn’t impressed with either…they both looked muddy and ran choppy. Now that I have played the retail release on 360 I must say that the improvement to multiplayer is very significant. I notice no framerate issues or screen tearing and the graphics are amazing. I would even say that the multiplayer graphics in Crysis 3 rival those found in Halo 4. Don’t judge based on the beta, the retail is a much more polished experience that the beta didn’t do justice….at least in the multiplayer department.
…and whats with all these beta and demo screenshot comparisons (who cares) or these unsatisfying “heads up” comparisions? I can’t remember the last time there was a proper full analysis. Bring em on!!
