Wow i guess the demo was just a port from the 360 to the ps3. From what i can see the ps3 version looks better now.
I may be wrong but i think the sliders are mixed up because when i click show only xbox 360 it shows the ps3.
They are like that in EVERY H2H with sliders. Not sure why that is though.
It works for me!
Must be your crappy browser.
I use firefox, chrome and internet explorer it does it on every one.
I use Safari on a Mac and it works perfectly for me every time.
@justspaztic
Yeah NOW they work. LoT fixed the problem after it was pointed out in this H2H at least. Not sure about the others.
Get your facts strait before you talk otherwise you look just as retarded as android123.
better on ps3? hmm.
I’ll wait out the assessment of crysis 2 ps3 vs xbox 360 on Eurogamer to draw my conclusions, preferably videos.
the photos are not wrong?
Wow!
Crytek why oh WHY did you not just show this from this beginning?!
Seriously, if the performance is even between them this is looking to be one hell of a multiplat! Aside from the slightly lower PS3 resolution they look identical for the most part!
LoT, please please please do a performance analysis because Digital Foundry seem to be sleeping under a rock somewhere.
I wanna know which one to pick up this Thursday! (Would greatly prefer PS3 for free online and uncompressed audio though!)
Amazing!
Yeah I was saying to my friend last night, hope CryTech don’t disappoint any consuls owners, yet very happy to see the PS3 is also a great version, Hopefully will get the PS3 version, because I get used to PS3 contributor.
I gotta say I’m suprised to find myself digging the PS3 version. Textures are near identical but both seem to shine in different areas. Notice the arm patch and cloths in pic 4 are much sharper on the PS3. What really sells me on the PS3 version though is the lighting. It just looks a little bit more pronounced.
Other than that they look the same. I can’t wait to see the performance. Like Electronic said, if they can make performance as equal as the visuals then Crytek did a hell of a job with console multiplat!
I agree about the lighting on the PS3 version. The bloom effects seem more aggressive in a couple screenshots too.
u know, the lighting so far looks like stronger in the ps3 version like u said, but if u go to the 6th pic of the second page, u can realize that the overall lighting on the enviroment looks better on xbox, and i think teh xbox 360 looks sharper, ps3 still has that washed out thing.
lol, u fanboy.
Fanboys see what they want to see. PS3 clearly won this one. Picture #4 alone wins it.
Its funny the campagin looks better on the ps3 but, the multiplayer looks better on the 360. Its like they devloped campagin on the ps3 and ported it to the 360 and devloped the multiplayer on the 360 and ported it to the ps3. ha
The thing u say on the 4th pic is only when u dont install the game on the HDD, so don’t say im a fanboy, if u know how to read.. which i think u dont ,a little lower i wrote that i hope this game is the same on both consoles so we can avoud useless coments like urs. aka Fanboys comments.
are you kidding me?
mejor callate wey
well the 4th pic totally different in B3D comparison, don’t know why(loading textures problem again?)
Lighting looks a bit more aggresive on the PS 3 and corect me if I’m wrong but it seems like they’ve added MLAA to the PS 3 version. I’m giveing this one to the PS 3 easily.
i think thats TAA or QAA?well i could be wrong
can’t wait for the full analysis!
The ps3 version looks quite the same than the xbox one, i always thought i needed to wait to see this kind of analisis to jump myself into any conclusion, there were some comments telling that the ps3 had a lower resolution, but so far i think it’s not, that’s great for everyone, so we can avoid fanboys comments, lets keep waiting for the full analisis, that’s going to be interesting
DEAR LENS of TRUTH STAFF AND READERS, PLEASE NOTE:
If you have Full HD TV and you have 1080p mode turned on in your PS3, change it to 720p! For me, it seems that the game looks sharper in 720p mode and has a slightly better framerate! Can someone check it and confirm? Thanks for attention.
Why I’m receiving thumbs down? I have posted useful info! Gosh, xbot fanboys are everywhere!
Ture, Yes, some (720p games) if you keep the resolution in your PS3, they look good, yet it has to do nothing with the frame rates. On the other hand , if you keep your PS3 in 1080p Res Mode, some games still look good like (Uncharted), also it depends on your HDTV, meaning some HDTV like those very well know famous brand they deliver a very great picture quality.
Well people…obviously there’re differences between Xbox and Ps3 in illumination.
The sun positioned in different places, may be they did it like this to show how the main focus of light(the sun) change the whole world …to show the potencial of the engine…
Ps3 has “shadow” missing…wich is not really a shadow missing..just the sun in different places…
seems like they did a really really really god job with Crysis 2.
Thank GOD crytek fixed that. they look exactly the same except 360 has a few sharper textures and slightly very slightly better lighting effects. other than that their twins they look identical…but i still want my xbox back i’m bored with the ps3. i’ll get the 360 version personally.
I swear to God that I will never ever judge anything based on the demo, youtube, and rumours again. I’m so ashamed that I even said all those stuffs (Crytek, I’m sorry for bashing you.) From now on, I shall keep my verdict for demos/betas and retail versions completely separate from one another.
Yes sir same here! It’s funny you say that homes, but didn’t LOT say “Never judge a game by it’s demo” or some shitz like dhat. shitz man, these LOT dudes are like Nostradamus peps or something.
Peel that banana baby!
listen you were right about your judgement if you were judging the comparison in multiplayer. remember people there is 2 different development studios working on this game, crytek on the single player and crytek uk(formely Free Radical) working on the multiplayer. i’m not surprised there is differences in quality between the campaign and multiplayer. 360 will probably have the edge in the multiplayer and they look to be pretty equal in single player’s graphics. i’am really curious on the performance analysis now, i wish it was going up tonite so it would better help me decide which version to get tomorrow.
I still think that this game, console version, is just another fps with sub hd graphics and average gameplay.
A good game, yes, but really nothing special even on PC.
The 360 version still seems to have a higher resolution which you can see more of on page 2 of these comparison shots.
For example look at the buildings in the far distance way beyond the smoke and stuff. They look slightly washed out on the ps3 but more pronounced and defined on the 360 version. I also think the lighting is a bit better on the 360.
The only thing I can say about “the guy with the patch” shot is that the textures didn’t load yet for the 360.
Right now to me the 360 still has a slight edge. I definitely can accept slower loading textures because I know I wont notice it in the heat of playing. I will gladly trade in slower loading of textures for resolution which will be consistently sharp and vibrant throughout the game.
Besides I always install all 360 games to the HDD which I suspect will improve the loading of textures.
…
On the last (8th) screenshot on page 1, the marine (of the PS3 version) on the left has slightly better or possibly higher resolution facial textures. The two bands that he wears on his left wrists (and maybe the pattern on his pants) also seem more clear and detailed than what shown in 360 version.
On the 6th screenshot on page 2, the street sign and its texts seem more detailed on the PS3 version, whereas it is blurred out on the Xbox 360 version.
Anyways, these small details are only meant for nitpicking, because graphics-wise, I personally believe that both versions are on par with one another. Now, only the performance analysis can tell…
na man I’ve played both retail versions and in the campagin the ps3 has higher res textures, a bit better lighting in some places, and the heat distortions look more pronounced, but its buggy and it doesn’t run as good as the xbox version. The xbox version runs a lot better, less buggy, but, has shitty textures and less of heat distortions when compaired to ps3 version. I haven’t seen the actual mp but the screens here seem to look better on the xbox.
Well well well. Looks like Crytek held up to thier claims. They sure garnered a lot of public debate with the terrible PS3 multiplayer demo that was based on an old build. From what I can see, the PS3 has much sharper textures and more aggressive lighting. I can hear Xbox fanboy hearts breaking all over the world. Good. It’s about time people started to realise the PS3′s superior hardware architecture. Especially now that the developers are finally coming to grips with the advanced tech. This is going to be a flame war…yyyyyeeeeeee Harrrrrrrr!!!! IT’S ON!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its the ps3 version for me. Clearer textures, more aggresive lighting and over all better appereance.
In all honesty I though 360 would own ps3 from the demo….live and learn.
I might still hold off on this. If I would grab this it would be on pc. Which seems like a port since it has no dx 11 or graphics customizing (only pre determined)
Very disappointed in Crytek. Seems like they took the easy way out with pc version.
Console again are holding back the pc’s potential.
God bless BF 3.
…I heard something along the line of Crytek planning to launch the PC version first and update it with DX11 support at a later date, so yeah, it’s a case of wait and see. Don’t give up hope though, because the PC version will undoubtedly be superior both console versions…I hope…
Can’t wait for Battlefield 3.
Honestly its completely different when you build the engine with the tech, and when u just patch it.
Look at Dirt 2…that “patch” that delayed the game. What a fail. Dont get me wrong the game looks amazing but dx 11 is no show.
I have no doubts that it will still be superior on pc, but I want as much as I can get from my pc.
And frankly if in the future my pc can’t handle Crysis 3, I want to be able to tweak configurations with out having to go through 400 pages of Wordpad configuration files to manual switch out 1′s to 0′s and vice versa.
Why did you delete de staff comment below each image?
What about framerate?
Where’s the performance analysis?
Mmm I actually prefer the look of the PS3 version going on these screenshots.
Have to wait and see how they perform.
If the PS3 version ends up being better, then some of the Xbox fanboys that were insulting other users will have to eat their words or leave the site for good.
It’s strange how demos have been deceiving in the PS3 in an opposite way nowadays.
First was Dragon Age that played and looked poorly on PS3′s demo, later being released as arguably superior (Depending on your opinion of performance vs tearing, but it does look better).
And now Crysis 2 looks better as well. Will wait for a performance analysis before choosing the version to buy tho
Wow and I tought that the ps3 was doomed but now it shows a little better textures and better lighting.. Lets just see how it performs??? Will not look at demos the same.
where are the PS3 bugs on that pistol screenshot? hm…
Are you lot blind? This is clearly sharper looking on 360 from the screenshots.
The blurry 360 pic at the bottom of page 1 is obviously the way the picture has been captured.
It’s not going to look like that normally is it(it’s messed up).
The ps3 overdoes the lighting as usual, the 360 one is much better balanced.
It’s all down to the performance and the final specs in the proper head to head when we get it.
Screenshots are a bad indication of the final quality.
LMAO!!!! You’re so stupid. You must be looking at the Ps3 side and pretending their switched around. Just look at Pic #4. The badge actually looks like a skull with a parachute and not a 5 year old pumpkin. The textures are virtually flawless on the Ps3 side, with little to no pop-in. Everything on the 360 side looks like blurred out shit. I think you’re just butthurt because the shit demo was the definitive product. Get over it, this win belongs to Ps3. XD
MORE THAN ANYTHING…
being a PS3 only owner, I’m relieved. Relieved to see that the PS3 version is not only FAR beyond the travesty which it’s demo had portrayed, but is in fact going to deliver an experience that not only mirrors the 360, but in some ways excels too.
For me, I think BOTH versions look great, however (and please, I am NOT biased!) I prefer the look of the PS3 version overall – something I NEVER expected to be able to say about this game based on the demo build. However, judging from the screenshots here I think the PS3 version looks to have a better balance aesthetically, on the whole.
I’d still be 100% happy with either though myself, depending on which console I owned. Heh, if you own both, good luck with your decision. No doubt it will all boil down to the performance analysis in the end, as visually (objectively speaking) it’s pretty much a tie in my eyes.
AS A SIDE-NOTE…
I’m not ‘getting’ this “PS3 looks lower res” business? They look evenly matched to me, with a ‘tit for tat’ here and there on textures etc. I wouldn’t call texture res crimes either way myself…
Guess i’m getting this tomorrow on ps3. Thanx LoT for getting this up.
With no doubt, ps3 wins hands down this H2H. While ps3 has better lightning, textures, and overall appearance, the xbox 360 has mediocre lightning, mediocre chars textures, and inferior eye candy.
Honestly, i always deffended 360, but only with reason, this time is undeniable that 360 was owned by ps3 this time. Another FFXIII fiasco. This game shouldnt gone
Multi, microsoft: launch the next gen console soon, 360 cannot handle anymore.
Ps3 is my version of choice
……
…
Stop with the exaggeration…both now and in the future.
Hahahaha i am truly staggered how much importance people place on screenshots.
Everyone here got all excited about homefront ps3 graphics compared to the 360 one but digital foundry said it looked better on 360 in a lot of areas.
The real head to head of this game will be the true test, not this screenshot comparison lol.
As always YOU can’t handle the truth! Android, buying1999 or whatever they call you… You are a clear xbox fanboy, don’t even deny it! I don’t care if here or there I have slightly sharper texture on xbox while overall PS3 version looks better and closer to PC. Curious how xbox console similiar in it’s architecture to PC, can’t handle similiar graphics and look.
BTW Don’t forget that PS3 version forces 1080p hence the bluriness. I said it earlier, turn your ps3 settings to 720p mode and you will have much cleare picture in this game.
@android123: So how about you quiet down and wait for performance like the people who knows better would, huh? You don’t have to say the same thing over and over again, makes it sounds you’re in denial.
Am I the only one who reads android’s posts in skeletor’s voice? I can’t be the only one.
On topic, I’m not a big fan of lighting effects at all. I will always choose the more crisp looking game. Looks like it’s a red dead situation again. In red dead, the ps3 version had the better lighting/bloom effects, but the 360 version looked more crisp.
So, if I were to purchase this game, I’d probably grab it on the 360. Kudos to crytek though for the platform parity. I can always appreciate near identical multiplats.
main reason why RDR had that bloomish effect was the fact that the game was incredibly blurry.
To clarify, I’m not saying I don’t like the lighting effects specifically in this game, I’m talking in general. I think lighting effects are overrated and I absolutely hate bloom effects with all the fires of hell.
I’m sorry but I need to say this…
I’m currently playing the xbox 360 Crysis 2 game, and I can say that the patch in the arm of the soldier’s uniform don’ look at all like that screenshot.. maybe it’s cause I’m playing from the hard drive.. don’t know.. but that screenshot is not right. If anyone don’t believe me, I can prove it, I can take a photo of my screen and show to you.
I supposed installing the game into the HDD does speed things up huh.
Anyway, that screenshot is “right” if the game is not installed into the HDD. Footages on Youtube show that after the marine approached Alcatraz, it took a whole 5 seconds for the textures to load. Even prior to that, when the marine who sat next to Alcatraz slapped him on the on the side of his right arm, it clearly showed that the patterns of the walkie talkie strapped on the marine’s shoulder is blurred out, but appeared more detailed in later scenes, suggesting a textures loading problem. Such matters were not present on the PS3 version, and I think the reason is pretty obvious, since the PS3 version has that big mandatory install, which undoubtedly helps load the texture faster.
So yeah, those who plans to buy the Xbox 360 version should install the game into the HDD (if you can afford to) before playing to ensure maximum enjoyment.
yeh it definitely speeds the texture loading. ps3 has a mandatory install they would of done it to the 360 version if every owner had a harddrive. so luckily microsoft added this awesome feature. i installed mine when i got home and not one bit of texture loading issues. man this game is freakin gorgeous i run my 360 hdmi to dvi and i’am playing the game at 1680×1050 and holy hell it looks really really great!!
just get the game and installed to play,i guess you’re right
Well looks like nathan carmillio’s claim held true. Put both versions side by side and their is no major differences!!! Although crytek never helped themselves with the PS3 demo i hope a few people out their are feeling a little silly about some off the comments posted about the company on various forums. They said from start to finish(even after that demo) that both 360 and PS3would get identical products and it seems their word was sound
Personally il be getting this for the PS3 as i havent seen my xbox since i let my brother borrow it 2 years ago lol. Quite happy with that choice because if you get nit picky you would prob give the win to PS3 mostly due to the more refined lighting techniques.
Iv actually watched a lot of videos online of the retail version in motion(both PS3 and 360) and dont think anyone has to worry about performance, both run pretty smoothly and only dip a bit in fps in intensive fire fights. Cant comment on screen tearing because its not something i really notice but word on the street is that the PS3 is triple buffered, so if thats true it wont be an issue.
why couldn’t they show this off in the demo. i wouldn’t of hated on crytek nor any other ps3 owner if they would of just shown this in the first place. though this is the sp of it, so hopefully we get update pics/vid on the mp portion to see if its as good. cant wait to see the analysis comparison vid. still going to rent this though, cause i don’t know if its going to look as good if still doing the up-scaling 1080p on ps3 or its going to be native 720p
Im sorry crytek for doubting you. Ps3 version looks better. We all learned a great lesson here didn’t we? NEVER JUDGE A GAME BY ITS DEMO. All hail the graphic gods known as CRTYEK!.
Woah, looks like I may have spoke too soon.
Ah well, I do love eating crow!
You know guys, First I’d like to thank LOT for the great update regarding Crysis 2, and the new screen shots are amazing.
but let me blow something out of my chest and as well asking you one question
ARE’nt you guys happy that CryTech Team is able to develop a game that works great in both system? Don’t you want Smart Developers that really know how to make a game for all system?
Don’t you want developer to stop crappy port to PS3?
For me, I’m happy that Crytech stand up for being a role model of a good developer who gives each console it’s right.
Holler!
Damn even dhat multiplayer is identical! Holy jebus, a brother needs to pour that 40oz for them CryTek dogs!
Thnx for the update LOT: shizzle my nizzle dizzle!
Yep multiplayer looks to be pretty even as well, maybe a microscopicle edge to the 360 for some more aggressive shadowing.
Either way both sets off fans should be happy. il be getting this for my ps3 on friday me reckons
Oh yeah have you guys noticed that the cloak for both platforms is now the same on the new multiplayer shots
Wow i can’t believe ppl voted ps3 as the winner when it is clearly both systems look almost identical. Do we hav lots of ps3 fanboys here or wad? I for one own a ps3 and im really shocked ps3 performed that great by the looks of these screenshots. YEAH!
No, the PS3 is winning because it is the better looking version. When the Crysis 2 demo comparison was posted, the 360 won, because it was the better looking version. Are there fanboys here? Yes, but I like to think that the majority of posters here are reasonable gamers, multiplat owners who use this site as a guide when buying multiplat games. We just see this comparison for what it is, an unlikely win for the PS3.
after update,i think problem with textures(360)is because install/not install in HDD
so if someone will buy 360 version, remember install the game in HDD first(well i think everyone will do that)
The PS3 version has better lighting but can’t be sure that’s just the games current cycle or if the PS3 had better lighting.
Other than that it’s a tie in my opinion. Even if the PS3 had better lighting I’d still rate it a tie.
Well it seems true that the demos were very different builds. Like ps3 build version 3 vs xbox 360 build version 6.
Full retail version does have a slight superior quality on PS3.
AS AN ADDENDUM…
to my previous comments above, upon looking at the 3rd page of screen shots, I too would have to say that I too feel the 360 MP screen shots look nicer in some area’s (i.e. metal panelling and wall textures plus shadowing) however, I still prefer the ‘so-called’ blur on the tree’s in the PS3 version. It gives them more natural definition, as opposed to glowing razor blades on branches!
This evens up the comparison AGAIN in my eyes! Initially, although VERY close I voted PS3 *just* over the 360 version. However now, I *would* have voted a tie…
with majority of these comparisions it gives the consumer a definitive answer as to which platform runs the game better… This one does not.
The shots of PS3 SP looks better by comparison but the 360 MP looks way better by comparison. Something is off.
Hey, Lens of Truth, how putting this (link below) in the performance analysis?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzh86ABmxxk&hd=1
from looking at pg3 of the mp 360 looks better, its not major but you can tell by the darker and better shading in it. the sharpness of the building looks better on the 360 than ps3. i don’t get it, is it going to be 360 has online visuals, and ps3 has sp visuals. hoping that doesn’t end up beening the case, like how the demo of the ps3 was. than to me it will be just like crytek just tweak the ps3 demo and made it look better than it was
I’ve never known such a deluded set of fanboys in all my life as the ps3 bunch.
Now some of them think the MP pics look better on ps3 when it’s obvious they are far sharper and clearer on 360(much like the majority of the SP pics).
I’d also like to return to the over saturated and far too intense ps3 lighting effects on their version.
Look at page 2(pic 5), look how the sun (which is off to the right)causes a mssive over the top unrealistic glare effect on the right hand wall.
The sun would have to be on the left hand side to cause that kind of glare on the brickwork.
The 360 version is correct and you can actually see the brickwork on the wall properly(100% truth).
Also on the same pic, look how blurry the lights on the stand are in the bottom of the pic through the open doorway. Far clearer on 360.
The pic directly underneath shows how much better the 360 version really is though(pic no:6).
Not only is it much sharper on 360 when you swap between the two, but if you just focus on the small pic comparison in the bottom right corner, you can clearly see how sharp and nicely balanced the 360′s colours are compared to the big orange blob madness of the ps3 version due to messed up bloom type effects.
You can deny it all you like, but it looks far sharper on 360.
Time for the ps3 owners to start up another petition like you did with black ops lol.
The only deluded fanboy here is you andriod123. But that’s nothing new.
android you know nothing about the sun and what it should look like because you never go outside. You have no life and your probably some little fat kid eating cake and beats off every time you look at your 360. The ps3 version looks better this time and your gonna have to live with the fact that your going to buy the inferior version because you only own a 360.
This game on its 360 version doesnt even deserve to be downloaded
Damage control! ¬¬
Clear PS3 Win…
I came in here expecting to see the PS3 version get slaughtered as everyone like IGN was saying it was crap, and the demo was awful. Well I am shocked, the PS3 version looks a hell of a lot than the 360 version.
It’s night and day, PS3 wins. Better lighting, better textures most of the time. I am switching my order to PS3.
Possibly irrelevant info, but these are the sizes of all versions of Crysis 2:
PC: 7.54GB
PS3: 5.8GB
X360: 6.7GB
This question immediate pops up as soon that I saw the sizes of all version:
Why is there a ~1GB gap between the PS3 and the Xbox 360 version?
After being installed the 360 version is just 5.5gb
Where did you get those infos from?
Oh, I was browsing for some Crysis 2 ISOs and found these.
I would guess to say it’s the extra amount of storage MS has the developers put in there to prevent piracy.
I’m sad so sad LOT did that crap, sorry.
Crysis 2 on XBox is better, with no discussion.
Taking shots when LOD isn’t loaded yet, moved pic’s, stages with the sun in deferent position, ( favouring the ps3 version) etc etc, I’m so disapointed with LOT.
I allways say honestly when a game is better no matter the platform, but this is an epic fail provided by LOT, I didn’t expect that.
Even most people is beliving that ps3 version has better Lighting and textures because this fail comparison.
Not even textures are almost the same, resolution and frame rate is better on Xbox.
So so so disapointed with LOT.
PD: I allways give my opinion after playing both versions, waiting for digital foundry to give us the truth.
@Esppiral
yeah so google translate did their comparison and it’s funny.. they show that patch not loading in their comparison too.. I wonder could this be a problem! I guarantee digital fuc% face will show it too.. As for the sun in a different position… Wong! it’s the expat same frame no “different” position about it. Go do your Xbox trolling on DF site where it belongs. Just deal with it’s a TIE!
Have you read the DF analysis already?
They confirmed point by point what I’ve “said” before, who’s trolling? LOL
FACE REALITY dude!
Wow guys c’mon now…
I know you guys love the ps3 but it’s obvious that in ALL of these shots, with the exception of the “patch” photo due to slow texture loading, the 360 is the sharper more vibrant version whether it is SP or MP shots. The ps3 shots have a coating of vaseline in their shots.
Android123 stop doing this! We all know who you are! You are a disgrace to the gaming community and xbox community too!
I hope LoT will take into consideration my post about 720p mode. Curious how this comparison would turn out: PS3 720p vs X360 720p.
I find it quite sad that you actually believe that Android123 is posing as someone else.
I am posting my opinion on this feature. If you can’t handle when others post opinions that are not in line with your own then you should stop visiting forums.
It’s the 360 version for me. I don’t see how anyone can put up with a blurry image when there is a clearer one sitting right next to it.
When it’s raining hard and your windshield is beginning to fog up you don’t say to yourself, “Ya know I actually like the look of this. I’m not gonna try to clear it up.” Lol.
speaking out of your ass is the new trend.
glad I switched my pre order and went for the 360. 2 reasons…. HIGHER RESOLUTION and FRAME RATE.
Do you have any proof of this or are you making it up.
proof. My friend got it for PS3 and I have it for 360. I don’t need a website comparison.
No proof then. Just your own (possibly biased) opinions.
I’ll wait for a proper analysis.
Well, My friend got it for PS3 and I have it for 360. TO US, it looks like the 360 version runs smoother.
How can you have the game if it’s not came out yet?
@Mauro
You bust his ass. I love you :p
AND THE CLEAR WINNER IS THE PC
