*To ensure color accuracy from the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U output, the PlayStation 3 has RGB Full Range set to "Full" and Super White "On", and the Xbox 360 has Reference Level set to "Expanded" and HDMI Color Space set to "RGB". Our capture card we have captured segments from the AVS HD 709 . Blu-ray, HD DVD, & MP4 Calibration suite.
As you will see, each system matches each other at the SOURCE LEVEL. No contrast or gamma settings are manipulated before or after capturing our images/videos. We strongly believe that these types of corrections are done on a individuals preference and should not be adjusted by us. Finally, washed out looking images that are due to contrast or gamma differences will not have any influence on our final verdicts. Please Read through our F.A.Q page if you have any questions or concerns.*

Tough call on this one. Wii U definitely looks better than the PS3 as far as textures and character models, and the Wii U looks better than the 360 in most of those areas as well. The only glaring difference looks to be detail on the forehead of the General in that one pic. Other than that, it looks like if the gamma were properly adjusted the Wii U and 360 would look damn close.
wrong wiiu textures so low res can see pimples on black dudes forehead.
cant*
Just so you dumbasses know developers had more experience working on dreamcast than ps2 and unreal tournament 1999 still looks better on ps2 than dreamcast.
if wiiu really was more powerful it would look better from day one.
wii u looks like a pc port better, better draw distance, better environment textures, better foilage, better resolution. However it does not have most of the advance features from the pc, SSAO, FXAA, shadow and poor contrast adjustment “whitish”.
i m guessing devs dont really want to take any risk in a system that they have not clue about.
@videocasuals
Those are called dimples not pimples.
Haha.
It would appear that the Wii U version is capable of easing out the tension of a soldier on the battlefield, evident by that relaxed expression on his face (as opposed to other tensed and angry counterparts.)
Seriously though, the game better be running at native 720p on the Wii U…
Dude… I registered just to 1up you. Very nice comment!
Wii U looks good. pretty clean and sometime seems sharper
It is a tough call. Too bad this is Nintendo’s “next Gen” offering. Should be A LOT better than this. Next Gen Sony & Xbox going to wipe the floor with them graphically………..again.
i think the term “next gen” was lost with nintendo since the n64
This is the first Wii U port guys. Let’s not start saying idiotic things about Wii U which has yet to show its true colors. This is not a problem with Wii U’s hardware but the port by Treyarch themselves.
i guess my comment sounded negative but i was meaning i stopped looking at Nintendo as a direct competitor since n64. they do fine with their own thing, not always what people want but there’s no denying from their sales they aren’t successful. i own everything they ever released
lol at the fanboy votes the wii u is missing textures ps3 and 360 tie
theres already wii u fanboys?
Aren’t you all shocked that this is NEXT GEN nintendo? And only JUST up to par compared to current gen Xbox & Sony? I expected A LOT better than this!
I can understand that Samchez, but with this being a multi-platform game from the start, it’s tough to really gauge what the WiiU is truly capable of. Most of the first games on the WiiU are going to straddle that uncomfortable line of this gen and next. Just like the XBOX & X360. Remember Gun, THPS:AW, Just Cause? Those games just looked and played slightly better on X360. Same thing here. Once the WiiU gets gets some legs under it, I think we’ll all be pretty surprised!
^Totally agree. We won’t see it shine until the exclusives start rolling out. IGN didn’t like that Zombie launch title though. Apparently the graphics are sub-par. BLOPS2 would of been a straight port for sure. We won’t know until we see a major AAA dev build a game from the ground up. Interesting times ahead. Good to finally get another major player.
We really shouldn’t expect anything from Treyarch in the first place. Hand them an unrefined chunk of gold and they’ll probably call it an elegant ingot…
Don’t forget, the Wii U is pushing video to 2 screens. The 360 & PS3 only have 1 screen.
Ashdude don’t forget the console was designed for that.
Fucking xbox fa$@ots, just come here to vote blindly for their shi&@y box, even though im on ps3, but everyone gotta admit, Wii U looks more natural more sharper, less blurry and blah blah … It’s better! admit it stupid xbox fanboys.
hey LOT Team, quick question, what resolution are you recording the WiiU in? I know PS3 only does 720P and the same goes for xbox (though it can upconvert) but are the screens getting recorded in 1080P or just 720P like the others?
also did anybody else realize how bad the contrast is on the other consoles only after seeing it compared to the wiiU? XD (specifically the last pic, I can’t believe I didn’t notice how sickly he looked before XD)
Well, according to Eurogamer’s review, the Wii U’s HDMI output is unfortunately locked to limited-range RGB only, which explains why it looks washed out.
Yeah, I think they need to adjust the WII U screenshots to account for the limited RGB output. It won’t look like that on display devices that support limited RGB. Digital Foundry extrapolated out to full RGB to do their screenshot comparisons in their Mass Effect 3 Head 2 Head. I think some other site had to do the same thing with an Arkham City comparison.
The PS3 can do 1920x1080p just fine. I don’t know whether it can upscale Cod to it but to name an example in native 1080p it would be the God of War collection.
This is a Wii U launch game and its upto par with the other versions. The 360 was running Kameo at launch and the PS3 had Genji lol. Things can only get better for the U.
Wii UMAD?
PS3 and 360 = Tie
wii U = Last place
Actually. its 380, PS3 and then wii U
360 wins again
Cool, now there’s another console for the 360 to beat up on. The PS3 has company on loser’s row.
Battlefield 3 looks and runs better on Ps3.Frostbite2>>>>>>>COD engine
COD >>>>> Battlefield
As far as gaming fun goes and review scores
the last time i remember bf3 looks like crap on consoles
Let’s be honest. Nobody is going to buy a WiiU for BOPS2. I for one am waiting for the Mario Galaxy, Zelda and Metroid. Therefore, I be buying this system 3 to 4 years from now at a discount.
360 version looks better
Lol at the Wii U competing with current gen. It’s like saying look the Gamecube is up to par with the PSOne or the N64 is up to par with the Mega Drive/Genesis. That would be unforgivable back then and it should be unforgivable now.
Another point to make. For some stupid reason the Wii U only has an RGB limited range hence the washed out look.
so i assume you hated and never played a n64 or a gamecube game?
I’ve played many N64 and Gamecube games and enjoyed some of them tremendously. N64 was way more power than the gen before it (SNES, MD). If Virtua Racing or Donkey Kong Country had been released on the N64 and it was a bit worse the N64 would be a laughing stock. Same goes with the Gamecube. If a Saturn or PSOne game had been released on the Gamecube and it struggled with the port again the poor old GC would’ve been admonished. Fact is a port from previous gens to the next gen should be NO SWEAT. It shouldn’t be worse in any way, it should however be better in every conceivable way because it is NEXT GEN. That is how it’s always been until Nintendo came along with the Wii and now the Wii U.
Wii U like the Wii isn’t next gen in terms of power. If that’s you are after then forget it. If you’re after magical gameplay experiences that only Nintendo and a handful of third or second party developers can provide then by all means get one. Just don’t make excuses for the obvious lack of cutting edge tech. Nintendo are after the tablet market and they like to be different so good on them but personally I would’ve prefered it if they entered made a next gen in terms of power console like they did with the SNES over the NES, N64 over the SNES and Gamecube over the N64.
im sure i read somewere that activision said blops 2 would be native 720p on wii u which would make it the best graphically [performance is another issue] anyway getting my wiiu on the 30th nov and i might consider blops simply to just lay down and play the multi on the gamepad, headphones on whilst the wife watches crap on tv, sounds like bliss to me.
So I don’t get it… Throw in high contrast and over saturate an image and we claim winner?
The wiiu is a much more realistic tone. In the comparison, it just makes the 360 look like it was put through an instagram filter.
@rudero
sir, if u just take a look at the pc version then u,ll recognize that xbox 360/ps3 colour temperatature is games true one…wii u is on par with textures but colour temp is much much lower which gives a sort of washed overall look…for proof just look at the generals red cap in wii u version, where in the world u call this red???
im not against any platform im just sharing my thoughts…
Blame Nintendo for only allowing limited RGB range through HDMI. PC?/360/PS3 display full RGB.
@badassbab
yeah agreed………..
I’m a little surprised to see such a little difference. Activison originally said that the game would be rendered in 1080p on the Wii U but apparently it was an upscale. I think it’s pretty low of Activision to state something like that. Anyway, it seems to be a little cleared which I think matters a lot when you’re trying to shoot at people from far away.
So far I’m a bit disappointed by the power of the system. I was hoping it would be a bridge between current generation and next generation but It’s only marginally better (if that even).
Nintendo made a few last minute reductions to the GPU and CPU power to lower costs of the system a little before production… that is why Activision had no choice but to reduce to 720p (I still bet they use 480p textures like all COD titles before, maybe 540p if lucky this time around). Doesn’t make since that they originally were going to make the game 1080p and the game is struggling with frame rate in 720p in the end.
nm i seen page 2
LOL STILL NO PC TAKES DUMPS ON ALL OF EM.
ONLY ONE WITH TRUE NATIVE 1080.
honkeys are honkeys
I still think the Xbox 360 wins because it has been stated by Activision that it was the lead platform. This was made even more self-evident with all early footage being on the 360 platform. However, I believe the screenshots of the PS3 version were taken with the first patch that was released on day 1. It blurred the image even more than it normally would. Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry made a note of this in their Face-off. I also found someone who spent the time and did before patch, with patch and then with the latest patch that fixed the problem.

Just goes to show Activision are in M$ pocket!
Wii U has 2GB of RAM and 32MB of edram, it should wipe the floor with 360 on textures and AA but does it, NO!
Absolute BS!!!
It only can only use 1GB of these RAM and the RAM is twice as slow as the 360 RAM. Plus the CPU is apparently the size of one 360 core (out of 3). Efficient? Yes. Powerful? No.
A next gen console should have no problems porting current gen games. Wii U simply isn’t that powerful. It will eventually produce games that look as good or better than the best the 360 offers but is that progress? Not from a technical stand point but Nintendo aren’t in that game and the sooner people understand that, the better.
Does this website only do Screen Shot Head to Heads or Does it also do Video Head to Heads. I prefer Video versions. screen shots can sometimes look aliased yet when its a video anti aliasing is constantly correcting the aliasing.
Is it just me or does the Wii U seem washed out on every game comparison on Lens of Truth? Or do I just have bad eyesight.
Yes, the Wii U is washed out and less saturated than the 360 and PS3. It does look less dark/brighter and looks pretty good some of the screenshots showing close ups of peoples faces.
The 360 is the best. All you have to do is open your eyes.
The Piss and Shit 3 (PS3) and the Pee U are battling it out for which one sucks the most.
