Welcome back for another exciting Head2Head! This week put the squad based Binary Domain from SEGA under the Lens. Binary Domain is one of the first games being developed by the newly formed Ryu ga Gotoku Studio. The game was created by Toshihiro Nagoshi, who also happens to be the grand daddy of the incredible Yakuza series. Have a look below to see if Ryu ga Gotoku Studio’s first PS3 and Xbox 360 demo achieved platform parity…visually anyway.

TIE!
They’re both the same.
and Buying1999 pissoff you have nothing to say here.
ROFL. I’ll be checking here every now and then to see his reply.
^^AGREED. Buying is a F4G and its a tie.
As I always state, the xbox 360 version is darker so looks more appealing, even though technically they are a tie, as if you have the playstation version just lower the brightness.
Why don’t LoT adjust brightness so both are on a level playing field?
It would make for much fairer and accurate H2H’s, and we wouldn’t constantly see the Xbox version voted as the best, leaving many people such as myself scratching their heads at how stupid people cant see it is just brightness difference.
its not a tie in visuals at all. if you can’t see that the xbox looks better and not because of brightness or any other excuse you can come up with, then you really should not not be comparing because you quite obviously are a complete fanboy or have really poor eyesight.
if i could not see the difference here i would seriously think about going to specsavers before i ended up having a serious accident. if the xbox version was the ps3 version here you would see it as a ps3 win no doubt. its quite funny how ppl get that angry about a game being better that they lie to themself and expect ppl to be that thick that they agree with them.
@SMOOTH
My eyesight is fine. I seriuosly can’t see any advantage the xbox has over the ps3 version to warrant a win. and of course i’m a fanboy for seeing this. THAT is fanboy logic (your logic, or lack there of).
Besides, i was only looking forward to this game before i saw the very dull and repetitive gameplay videos. i couldn’t care less if the afghan version came with extra dlc or what console wins.
TBH it looks like it wants to be gears of war in Japan, with big muscle men.
Anyways, you didn’ say what made the Xbox version better. And i wasn’t angry in my first post. I smell fanboy written all over you TBH, as you’re the one who said i had bad eyesight when in fact i don’t, and that many people also believe its a brightness issue.
You <3 8============D
Well first lets point out the great implementation of Sony Defense Force play no. 2 from the advanced SDF member Xiamdavex-nx, which states,”When the over priced internet ready blu ray player’s INFERIORITY has been clearly revealed and there’s no defense then resort to personal attacks.” Good job mate.
Now that the child has been dealt with let’s see about this comparison.
As usual the SUPERIOR Xbox 360 is much sharper with better shadows, sharper textures, better all the way around. As usual. Now we’ll see about the performance. I expect it will be yet another victory for the SUPERIOR Xbox 360, as usual.
Oh and Xiamd, the over priced internet ready blu ray player is simply INFERIOR to the SUPERIOR Xbox 360. FACT, BANG. As displayed on this very site over and over and over and over and over again. Do you read the head to heads on here right? ROFL.
“The Xbox 360 is the BEST console EVER made.” –John Carmack
Hey Buying! Just the prepubescent 13 year old I wanted to see! I’ve been meaning to ask: You say 360 is superior because most multiplats look better, so what do you have to say about Microsoft’s little policy for multiformat devs? You know. The one where multiformat titles have to either be equal across platforms, or better on the 360? So, if Microsoft has the greatest technology since the real McCoy, why do they have such a policy, hmm? Sounds to me like they’re “protecting an inferior technology”. *wink wink nudge nudge*
Yeah microsft is shit im going over to ps3 now, can’t be botherd being a fanboy atempted it for a week and it’s boring
M$ are protecting thier technology. Its common knowledge. The most obvious example is the toning down of the most recent Final Fantasy to achieve close parity across the platforms. Even then it was STILL better on the PS3. M$ manipulate the market way too much…….
@Dial
ROFL.
Well there’s a new play from the Sony Defense Force playbook. I have to say that one’s really creative. However, if that were the case then wouldn’t the overpriced internet ready blu ray player releases of these multi console games at least be “As Good” as the SUPERIOR Xbox 360?????? Yes they would. This, however is not the case. I mean, you do read the head to heads on this site right? I’m starting to think that you don’t ROFL.
But, as usual, here is yet another victory for the superior Xbox 360!!
“Xbox 360 is the BEST console EVER made.” –John Carmack
I think the only defense force here is you BUYING.
It seems that ps3 has less aliasing, but the image is more blurry. Plus ps3 has better shadow resolution (3rd screen
) but overall xbox is a little more appealing. A tie.
Tie.
On a side note, I cannot believe they didn’t utilize Kinect’s voice recognition for their voice commands, it’s literally all there, it could not have been more simpler to do. But noooo crappy voice commands with a ordinary mic, that are completely broken.
Aliasing free with some blur vs. almost aliasing free with very little blur. Take your pick.
I stand corrected, since the xbox 360 uses traditional 4xAA there is no blur involved.
According Game wa Kimama ni, both versions are mostly identical with the exception of the PS3 version having superior AA (MLAA vs 4xMSAA), which I personally believe to be not very noticeable while the game is in motion anyway. Performance-wise, however, points to a clear advantage for the Xbox 360 version for being able to retain a smooth 30fps (most of the time) with a very minimal and hardly noticeable amount of screentears, whereas the PS3 version, while completely V-sync, tends to dip to the low 20 very often.
PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
Source:
Anyway, I’m slightly disappointed by the English version of the demo. They took out the three tutorial levels, presented in the Japanese demo. Dan’s responses were also fully voiced in the Japanese demo, instead of muted dialogues like its English counterpart. And the second level doesn’t just end immediately after the mecha Donkey Kong storms in, as I actually got to struggle with it for a minute or two in the Japanese version.
Is it really MLAA? I reckon it’s some sort of FXAA, which would explain the slight and almost imperceptible blur on PS3.
Based on these screenshots alone, I’d say it’s clearly a tie.
I believe post-process AA in general always tends to make the image seems a tad fuzzy. Of course, MLAA is at the top of the line for being the most successful at retaining the overall sharpness of the image, but it can never top MSAA and its ilk (as far as retaining that sharpness goes.) As for FXAA, I heard the “slight” blur only apply for the PC code where the precision is at its highest, console codes just aren’t as precise and tends to add more blur to the image, with the worst being the code for the PS3 (remember the PS3 version of Skyrim ?)
Took those words right out if my mouth Bloodios. Good job. I’ll just add MLAA doesn’t AA at the sub pixel level so you may notice sub pixel crawl.
game is terrible plain and simple =)
I played the demo and I don’t think so =)
OH interesting you know when Tie is more than rest it means its been truly voted by the true hearted people that they’ve actually vote for something that thought its correct, BUT when right after Tie you see how much xbox fan boys trying to vote just to release their rage and hatred agains PS3 … it make you feel wonder how hopeless these peoples are 107 from box fan boys that all they think about is to bash PS3 regardless to the fact or even the present fact. GROWN UP POEPLE.
Playstation wins……lol
Dunno, when I’ve looked briefly into mlaa on net, from what I’ve understood it really shouldn’t cause blur, as it inky operates on pixels on outer periphery, so shouldn’t really blur details beyond that few pixels.
Anyway, looks rubbish on both tbh.won’t be picking this up
Visually a tie though the PS3 has less jaggies from my point of view.
It’s a tie. WIth the PS3 being a little blurrier. Still i played the demo, the game just sucks.
This game’s demo was awful. Horrible attempt in competing with ME3 this year, SEGA.
We must have played two different demos of ME3. The Mass Effect 3 gameplay was pure garbage. I finished the first part of the demo, thinking to myself, “thank God, I’ve reached the end,” only for that to be the mid way point, with more boring storyline and more terrible gameplay until I killed off an easy boss to finally finish it.
Binary Domain played well and wasn’t a bad game, the only problem with game that I found is that it wasn’t very efficient when it came to weaponry. You can only throw grenades by first swapping them by pressing down. The original Uncharted is a great game, but I’ve always thought being forced to swap to your grenades rather than giving them their own button was poor game design.
i have the full version of the game and is not bad.
by the way its a tie.
The 360 version slightly (and I mean slightly) edges the PS3 version (the PS3 version looks a tad blurry). Anyway, this game should have been a PSN/XBLA title instead of a $60 title.
Its funny how buying says xbox win ‘as usual’. does he not know that last year there were more ps3 wins than xbox?? SHAME.
Also he always says “the over priced internet ready blu ray player is simply INFERIOR to the SUPERIOR Xbox 360″..
Tell me how is it?
What has bluray? what dosn’t?
What has Blutooth?
What had wifi since launch and what got wifi 1.5 years ago?
What had a 54% fail rate until 1.5 yaers ago?
What console STILL scratches disks?
What console forces you to pay to play online?
What console has more Cpu and Ram? not xbox.
What console’s controllers use old fashion AA batteries?
Sounds to me that xbox360 is I N F E R I O R..
Ok here’s how you debunk bs numbers spouted by someone with an agenda, notice I make no accusations towards Sony or Nintendo.
Now no one should give MS a pass on the RROD case, it was clearly incompetence on their behalf to release such a faulty product. The reason behind it seems to be rushing the product, but it still doesn’t excuse it. However, never listen to someone who says a number without atleast a credible source, the 54% number was a survey on a forum, and is in no way official numbers, the closest to official numbers we have is around 23.7%(Said by SquareTrade in 2006, late I know) which is still outragesly high so there really should be no reason for fanboys to cherry pick higher numbers, unless their agenda is to scare you make you believe that you’ll get a faulty product more than half of the time, which today won’t be the case, MS has worked on reducing RROD with the revisions, and the 360s is so different it doesn’t have anything like the RROD error.
The rest of the post is just fanboy wank and this really wierd complaint that if you move your console, while it’s reading a disc it scratches the disc! SHOCK HORROR! That’s like complaining that my desktop isn’t as portable as my laptop.
Also the user above points to Wifi, Bluetooth, batteries, and blu-ray, forgetting of course, which one has been consistently cheaper, and that these things doesn’t really add anything to you as a gamer.
Still this user gets many thumbs up, while still being a fanboy, and you people complain about fanboys without recognising them on both sides. :/.
It deserves a tie , because there are not any dramatic differences , but the image is clearly washed out on the PS3 version.
downloaded both and they both look exactly the same
Another extremely close call. as usual the Xbox seems a little sharper, but some nasty little jaggies are thrown into that mix aswell. An case for performance………..
familiar territory
where they are the same:
texture quality and resolution looks identical
where they are different:
ps3 seems to be implementing post process anti-aliasing giving a blurred effect. ps3 also has more intense motion blur during action sequences. 360 lacks the post process AA thus having a sharper picture but with noticeably more jagged edges throughout. the usual suspect of gamma differences returns making 360 darker and PS3 brighter.
overall a tie in terms of what I’ve seen of graphics and performance. both take some major frame rate hits during heavy action.
oh and voice command recognition here SUCKS ASS. terrible gimmick.
Nothing there to suggest either has the advantage, as is the same with most games these days.
If you want to see things that make you feel better about your console choice then fine, your only fooling yourselves.
I just got the game on PS3 and I have to say it’s a lot better than the demo. In the first stage where it’s raining, the graphics are really good and I think a lot better than what I was remembering from the demo. The game has a good sense of humor too. The dialogues so far although stereotypical are really funny. The action is very good.
I suggest that you give this game a chance. It’s too early but it looks very promising.
I’ll post more when I play some more.
Actually one of the best games money can buy.
And yes, it plays and looks a little better on 360 while CG cut-scenes are slightly better on PS3.
I have the european version though and I’ve already finished it on my 360.
This is a wonderful game I can strongly recommend.
I’ve been coming to this site for two years straight because it’s made choosing a console version easier and I just had to create an account today because of Buying1999. Buying you have to be the stupidest Xbox fan I’ve ever seen, my god you make us other Xbox owners look bad with your stupid ass comments. I’m a proud owner of both a PS3 and 360 and both consoles offers a unique gaming experience. And for the record I’ve yet to see a game achieve the level of Uncharted 2, 3 and god of war 3 on the 360. There’s no denying that the PS3 is a powerhouse and can achieve some truly marvelous visuals but we will probably never see it’s true potential outside of Sony’s exclusives.
draw distance…
