Might as well be identical. Possibly a slight slight texture filtering advantage on the 360 on the ground in a farther distance but otherwise extremely hard to tell apart.
It’s nice to see that this is the first game in the series on the PS3 to be 100% vsynced and – interestingly – also feature an unlocked framerate so that beginning part will attempt to run at 60FPS whenever it can. It’s close to God of War 3 performance… until you get to the towns and stuff where it nose dives. But forests and snowy woods will have that nice smooth GoW3 frame rate.
Also, now I know why people complain about these screenshot sizes and compression. lol
The game looks so much better on the big screen.
Wow. Based on these screens I’d have to say that it’s a tie. I’ll save my final verdict for the full head to head…if we ever get one.
Wow, your a lot more tolerable without that stupid quote your always posting, and I agree it’s a tie, visually..
Woah THE CHEAP CHILDRENS DVD PLAYER didn’t do too bad!
Some screens favour the 360, some screens favour the PS3. Have to say visually a tie, maybe with some sharper ground textures on 360.
I would buy this for PS3, even if this looks better on Xbox 360 or not. I want to complete my gaming experience completing both PS3 And PS Vita versions.
This game actually manages to look worse than the others in the series. Coupled with the worst ending ive seen in videogames in a very long time, this game loss’s on all fronts. Even the PC version is crap… it looks better than the consoles, sure, but its like saying that pile of crap looks better than that diarrhea.
go ubisoft! ruined yet ANOTHER series.
There hasn’t been any pc footage. ._.
This site avoids PC screen shots because ours makes the consoles look really really bad. Your gonna have to look on forums and stuff
Excellent job, both versions are virtually identical,i couldn’t tell any difference other than very slight gamma difference and the 360 has almost unnoticable further background draw distance.Let’s see the performance.I bet it will be a tie too.
Calling this anything but a TIE is crazy. I failed to notice ANY significant differences at all. Thsi is all down to the analysis. The parity here is very impressive. This should keep everyone happy.
Until they realise the game isn’t that good. (other people’s words not mine, big backlash on eg, with many saying it’s not worth 9/10, and first few hishours being very boring)
Ps, how the hell do you lot play so many games. I’m still playing dishonored and think it’s amazing. Had to avoid steam sale as know I’ve not finished games
Then call me crazy because this was a massive win for the PS3. The shadows on the face looked better on the PS3. Plus I only play with the d-pad ont he DS, so that’s another factor to consider.
PS3 win
Nigh on identicle, mostly cut scenes by the look of it.
The performance will be the important one, i’m expecting both console versions to have a hard time when it gets busy.
The pc one will be interesting, never been overly impressed with the pc assassin ports.
These screenshots do look pretty close and is commendable of Ubisoft’s efforts. What these screenshots don’t show though and will be detailed in the Analysis test later and by Digital Foundry is the frame rates and load times. Before making the decision on which platform to buy I was able to watch some “walkthrough” footage of both this weekend.
There were instances of assets being hidden (shadows/objects) on the PS3 in the background. However I also found other areas where the 360 version wasn’t showing objects (tents in this case) while the PS3 version did. The main factor for me because I couldn’t see framerate differences on youtube was the loadtimes. They were always faster on the 360. In some cases more than double as slow on the PS3. One load instance took 6 seconds on the 360 and 14 seconds on the Ps3.
Source:
360 – http://youtu.be/Cppwdn61zW4
PS3 – http://youtu.be/gskWJOgRb4Y
Also noted from the youtube videos above–the PS3 version had texture popping that wasn’t evident on the 360.
It could be that the said Xbox 360 version has already been installed and is running fully on the HDD. That would certainly give it an advantage to both LOD transitioning and loading times.
Good point Bloodios.
That would be a good assumption but after playing the game myself today on the 360 not installed, I don’t think the user had it installed either. My load times are right on par with the youtube videos.
And the 6 vs 14 sec sample was just one example. There were some 20+ second loading times that were just as significant. It wouldn’t be that big of a deal to me but I’ve turned to mainly PC gaming and am used to super quick loading. If I wasn’t so impatient I’d wait until the PC version comes out next month.
the ps3 has better lighting and shadows more detail and the background is’t quite as blurry
my balls has better lightning and shadows too!!! wanna see em??
Don’t make promises you cant keep, we all know you got no balls zol.
NO SCREEN TEARING! YAY! First Assassin’s Creed game I’ve bought for PS3!
this is a total tie, nice job ubisoft!
Picking this up tomorrow but still unsure which version to buy, some of you guys mentioned ps3 was vsyned, were did you read that? As a gamer who hates tearing that might be my deciding factor.
I have the PS3 version and there is no tearing whatsoever. It’s also not locked to 30fps. Sometimes it goes all the way up to 60fps. I would have preferred it to be always 30fps, but oh well.
I can’t tell the difference. It all comes down to preference.
the ps3 has exclusive missions which makes it better by default its mass effect 2 all over again ur crazy to get this game on xbox
I am not enjoying the shadows on the 360 version right now. Too bad they delayed the PC version.
??????? Then play the PS3 version then. Don’t tell me you’re a fanboy!
PS3-version wouldn’t really help him with the awful shadows … which is a match between both versions.
I don’t know. If you look at the radio comparison, the PS3 shadows don’t look like actual shadows and just look like random boxes. Where the Xbox version shows actual shadows.
@ justspaztik, thankyou for that, of to shops to get it now, [i dont know who is negging you for just helping another gamer out, ridiculous!]
It looks like a tie, but in the middle of the game the Box is going to RROD.
Tie, but we need to see Boston for example, not the beginning of the game, and from what i saw on youtube it looks like there is a lots of missing drop shadows on the PS3, i’ve got both, and i really want to know more about performance in action.
My friend has it on the PS3 and it does definitely drop a little in Boston. I’ve seen videos from the xbox 360 online from a similar area and they seemed smoother. It would be nice to know for sure though with a proper analysis.
We need to see Boston for example, not the beginning of the game, and from what i saw on youtube it looks like there is a lots of missing drop shadows on the PS3, i’ve got both, and i really want to know more about performance in action.
Sorry for double post :/
Got a feeling this will be the same story as revelations.. identical across platforms. From the second iteration this series has been very close to perfect parity (granted the second had slightly better ligting on xbox), but still… on the go you didn’t notice. Brotherhood was identical, revelations was identical too… and the third will be the exact same thing (i think). So… my advice; if you bought the others on a specifik platform, do the same with 3. And if this is the first one you buy, go by controller-preference, unless the exclusive dlc for pc3 matters very much to you.
360 version looks slightly sharper.
Of course, they delayed the PC version. The only way Ubisoft knows how to fight privacy is to delay the version that’s going to get hacked and forcing the majority of people to purchase it on console day one. Honestly, I have to agree with that practice.
Very well noticed. I think you hit the nail right on the head. Can’t blame the devs for that!
Eurogamer’s face off is up if you want a read.
It’s another epic win for the 360.
Ok it was a tie really.
You speaketh the truth Android, it seems it was an epic 360. Win, well epic, if defined by possibly better textures in places and maybe minute.frame rate advantages. Bugger all in between two in reality.
The shadows look hideous on both versions, and the dips in frame rates in low twenties would definitely put me off console version if can be avoided.. 360 gets win when you really delve Into it, but advantages are minuscule
Xbox 360 the greatest console ever made and to red light yada yada yada john carmack
lmao. Nice one.
Graphically, it’s a tie; Performance wise, it’s a hit-or-miss on both consoles; Discrepancies, as usual, are either isolated to their respective consoles or are identicle bewteen both with one, slightly more-or-less than the other… …it’s a tie!!!
Either way, get off the internet people, go out and buy the game and enjoy it; it’s good… …I’m having fun with it; F*#k what LoT or DF have to say about it. (“no offence, LoT staff; just making a statement.”)
As i said earlier; they’re identical. This is parity, and you can’t really get any closer. I mean, nobody would be able to tell the difference, if there was no button-icons. At this point, as DF noted, there is no point in comparing really. I’m not to psyked for this though.. had to much AC for a while, but i think i will pick uop the pc version when it comes out.
Ps3 verison slighty sharper in some areas
i hope they cap that frame rate in a patch, still well done ubisoft for parity, its only taking you 5 games! bought the ps3 version for that small amount of additional content, going to dive into this tonight while the kids are trick or treating.
Tweet @UbisoftMTL and tell them that you want a patch for 30fps cap. I’ve done it already. Maybe we can get them to do it!
You know… I can never understand why developers just won’t include the following options:
Heaven, it’s just that simple, so why won’t they include those. It’s as though they got too frustrated working with the limitations of these old systems that they simply decided to vent their anger on us console gamers and limited our options instead.
why bother when 95% of your user base doesn’t have a clue what those thing mean and wont notice a difference anyway?
360 wins again
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-assassins-creed-3-face-off
Srry bro ps3 wins with exclusive content, better graphics, and 1 disc.
srry ps3 wins with exlusive dlc and 1 disc plus better graphics
come on LOT. could you not provide some screens that actually show some of the main game in boston?
More XBox pwnage. PS3 is left sucking dust once more. So so sad.
Stop crying, just because your mamma would only buy you one console. They’re identical, and you know it. Same story for revelations and in fact brotherhood…. If you want the best, buy a gaming rig.
He’s clearly having a break down seeing as AC3 is a tie between platforms but with the PS3 having more content and MOH Warfighter having better performance on the PS3 over the 360.
he he … yeah, probably. The extra content for the ps3 version must hurt if you only own a 360. For the record though, that kind of dlc always pisses me off. I mean, just offer the same content across platforms, cause we pay the same. I think it’s kind of a shitty move on the part of developers to offer exclusive dlc… just kind of douchy move.
@HUMLEREN
there’s actually a method behind it, see early on it was apparent that PS3 versions of games weren’t pushing nearly as many copies as the xbox versions. so Sony put incentives in for publishers to release exclusive content for the PS3 version to boost sales, since that was put in place sales for cross-platform games have been a lot closer so the method has stuck (the xbox usually sells more multi-plats but the PS3 isn’t far off) it’s also the reason for microsoft pushing developers for timed exclusive dlc (since the agreement with Sony says that they are not allowed to release exclusive dlc for any game on another console as long as it’s timed they can scoot around that rule)
@BIGBURRITO: of course there’s a method behind it. Both companies wants to sell the largest amount of copies – no surprise there. I still think it’s a sucky move, even though i get the why of it.
Got this on my playstation and im enjoying it much’But can anybody tell me how can i get the 60minutes of extra content on my ps3 or has it already been installed as i got the didgital download version,The game itself was 12GB download and another download was an 100kb,
It’s included i believe.. so it should allready be there.
Ok thanks for that Humleren.
No problem
Think i might end up ordering this for console anyway… really don’t think i can wait for the pc as i originally intended.. the extra content also sounds very tempting.
Judging from the poll results, it looks like we have our clearest TIE ever!
i must agree.. certainly seems to be the prevailing opinion
PS3 version has 60 minutes ( 1 Hour ) gameplay more than the others.
For what it’s worth. I hopped online last night and noticed Screen Tearing on the PS3 version. It doesn’t tear at all during Single Player, but it tears online…. weird. You’d think they’d be the same.
Should have known… Both versions do that it seems. Uhhg
I don’t get why they feel the need to change the facial structure of the characters every game. Desmond looks nothing like his original self. Good parity between the ports though.
Only reason I can think of could be because another team worked on the game (ACIII was in development for 3 years).
Now, if only Ubisoft could patch the first couple of AC games for PS3 to reach the same level of quality of this installment.. And add trophies to AC1 too!!
I know.. it will never happen!!
Any differences are so slight, who cares what version you get.
For the record, the 360 version is slightly better, but who cares?
I wonder, did the PS3 screenshots gets used for toilet paper before getting posted? It’s always fun to give the PS3 and PS3 fanboys a hard time
360 version…… better? two discs and no exlcusive missions yeah totally better. Seriously tho the 360 version is inferior and you must be dumb to say that its better
The finest example of a delusional 360 fanboy.
You’re not giving anyone a hard time especially with your comment posted a good amount of time AFTER Digital Foundry’s analysis. LOL
Two dics is nothing when you get the benefit faster load times, response times and graphics, than one disc and long load times and long response times, crappy graphics and gameplay.
I found that out from playing Mass Effect 2. I bought the PS3 version because it was on one discs. I beat the game 5 times, then I played the 360 version. The time it takes to swap one disc for the other is the same amount of time it takes for the PS3′s long load times.
@CERNAMIL,
Remember to say your prayers 5 times a day to your PS3 and throw salt to the East or Mother Sony will not be happy with. OOPS, I know I didn’t have to remind you
CERNAMIL, you and the rest of the PS3 fanboys don’t have any credibility. If the PS3 versions is noticeably inferior–which is most of the time, you say the PS3 is the better version. If the PS3 version is the better version, you say the PS3 version is better.
I don’t care about AC3. I don’t like games that bore you to death for hours at a time in between any fun parts. I doesn’t matter what version you buy, you lose either way, just like Skyrim.
You say a lot of things. But it’s 100% FACT that you can never ever find actual evidence to back up anything you say. lol
It’s funny how you people flip flop when it comes to the installation argument. It’s a bad thing on the PS3, but an awesome thing on the 360. Bu-bu-bu… they didn’t install it! It would be better if they installed it on 360! Yeah..so it doesn’t sound like an industrial washing machine. lol
Now excuse me while I also gloat about the superior PS3 versions of MOH Warfighter and Most Wanted. bwahahaha
“You’re not giving anyone a hard time especially with your comment posted a good amount of time AFTER Digital Foundry’s analysis. LOL”
________________________________________________________
Digital Foundry gives the 360 the edge in every department for graphics, anti-aliasing, frame rates, ect., except the Naval scenes where the PS3 had a slight edge.
They compare the 360 vs. the PS3 with the 360 version running from the disc (only a PS3 fanboy would be dumb enough to do that, or a gaming noob) vs. the PS3 version with it’s mandatory install and the 360 version came out on top >95% of the time.
If they compared the 360 version to the PS3 version with the 360 game installed to the hard drive–which is what every intelligent person does–and the 360′s performance would be much better.
@SELLING1999
“The PS3 version has 3 exclusive missions.”
________________________________________________
Pardon me SELLING1999. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get your panties in a bunch for forgetting about the fact that the PS3 has three exclusive missions to add more hours of bordemn to an already boring game. I know those “exclusive” missions won’t be exclusive forever, as they will most likely be available for download some time in the future.
Sony needs to strike up special deals to help the crappy PS3 version sell better, since the PS3 versions of Assassins Creed series needs all the help it can get.
Oh BTW, the framerate for the PS3 verions drops to 15FPS at times during the game. Enjoy.
the ps3 version has 5 fps lead in naval warfare and frontier so stfu and it is slightly sharper So in reality its just another inferior xbox version the rest of what you are gonna say is invalid so have a nice day
SELLING1999 says:
“The PS3 version has a 5 fps lead in naval warfare…”
Yes, like I said earlier, the PS3 has the advantage in Naval warfare and is inferior everywhere else. The 360 has 5 FPS lead everywhere else. The PS3 framerate drops to 15 fps during the game also.
You PS3 fanboys are retarded.
There’s a 12fps advantage to the 360 at one point on the rooftops judging by the videos.
That’s a huge difference.
Funnily enough, the rooftop scenes on previous pc assassin games are what stress that version the most as well.
It may have been a tie on DF, but you get the impression the 360 still has the edge.
The deluded ps3 fanboys won’t be happy with that, but it’s the truth.
The ps3 has the edge. The xbox needs 2 discs to catch up to the ps3. Another ps3 win. FACE THE TRUTH
“It may have been a tie on DF, but you get the impression the 360 still has the edge.
The deluded ps3 fanboys won’t be happy with that, but it’s the truth.”
Talking about delusion…. lol
Xbox has a lead in boston, ps3 has a 5 fps lead in the FRONTIER AND NAVAL WARFARE im starting to think you didnt even read the df face off
Please make a comparison of Halo Reach and Halo 4
What’s going on with this site? We are in the busy season and I still see no head to head for NFS, COD, Halo now and then.
You have a fan base, customers paying for ads and no content.
A year ago you guys were amazing and I used to use this site as a buying reference for games on specific consoles.
Now, I just come here for nostalgia.
Hey LOT! Stop playing Halo 4 you MS fanbopys (lol
) and get some more content up!
They should do a comparison of Black Ops 2 and Halo 4 vs Halo Reach
But… you know, they’re busy
Seriously lets get some content on this site.
