Contra fans will be happy to know that Rebirth delivers the same fast-paced 2 player action found throughout the series’ 2D entries. Right from the game’s explosive intro, it’s easy to see that Developer M2 has harnessed the Wii’s 2D power in the right way, unleashing some awesome effects. Bosses are huge, explosions fill the screen, and there is a number of enemies attacking to ensure the classic Contra difficulty remains. There’s even classic Contra tunes remixed to make fans feel right at home. The only downside to this re-birthing is its $10.00 price tag for a measly five stages. With unlimited continues, even people who are impatient and die a lot in Contra (like me) will eventually learn the stage and boss patterns. Shooter fans will no doubt enjoy this one (I know I did), and while it lasts, it definitely offers a challenge. It just doesn’t last long. If you’re not a huge fan of Contra or shooters, I’d pass.
