In this First Look we bring you some awesome footage from the Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta. There were only two maps available in this beta, and they both looked absolutely stunning. below you’ll find an HD gallery and video from the game’s Chateau map. Please excuse our mediocre playing, but we’re going blame that on the game’s graphics. That’s right, instead of fighting off enemies we were in awe, staring at scenery. Anyway, we here at the Lens of Truth don’t sleep so you won’t miss a thing, so grab your cup of coffee sit back and enjoy some Uncharted 3 baby!
We’ll leave the equally incredible Airstrip Map for you to enjoy later on today. After you give the beat a go, come back and let us know what you thought of it, although we’re pretty sure we know what your gonna say.

I can’t wait to try the beta today. Loved Uncharted 2 MP so this will be a blast. I had some hilarious moments with my friends playing U2 MP. Like the times they’ve tried to sneak attack me but ended in major failage. lol
I tried to go on PSN and see if this was there yet. Will probably be there later tonight or maybe tomorrow when they update the new items. I shouldn’t have used that free month of PSN Plus so early. I don’t have much time left and I thought the Uncharted 3 Multiplayer beta would have been released sooner like it was originally stated

wow……..the graphics are amazing. this is almost at Unearthed levels (people who posted or read the unearthed stuff would know what i’m talking about).
Well this ends peoples specualtion that the MP would suck. Good that everyone gets in the beta (almost everyone). i wonder how many people are going to participate in the beta??
i have to wait for my brother to get back from work, it’s gonna be one of those monumental things when you start downloading the beta. you both have to have your hands on the controller so to speak

Looks kind of soft due to MLAA (most likely). Sometimes no AA makes textures look more detailed. Oh well.
Also, check out the object-based motion blur (like Gears of War 3)!!!

I’m sure the graphics will look better in the final game though. They still have 3 months to work on it.
Gears of war 3 has no AA at all, as they decided it’s largely lost in post processing effects anyway due to being rendered on early in process.

Mlaa doesn’t work on sub pixel level, it literally only smoothes off edges on objects( hence it can have isssues with artifacting when used), and therefore , any softness isn’t due to mlaa. I’m under impression they might not be using mlaa either, and might be using their own aliasing alternative .
i just noticed on these pics that gears of war doesn’t have antialising.
is it true?look at the far edges.
Yes it’s true, it doesn’t look terrible to be honest though as post processing hides a lot of jaggies, like in crysis 2 or halo reach, which had their own , not true anti aliasing techniques, but it’s there if you look.
Uc3 looks better in this respect , without doubt
By the way.. I didn’t say Gears of War 3 had AA… I actually said it had object-based motion blur… which it does.
fair enough, it seemed like u were throwing Gears 3 in there in reference to the object based motion blur, as if it acted as form of AA, like as in the way they used blur in 360 version of portal 2, instead of AA. Sorry for misunderstanding.
Most games running at 30fps use a form of motion blur, as it increases the sense of smoothness in animation, making it seem like its closer to 60fps than it is.
I guess its all a case of how heavy they go on the effect, like crysis 2, that blur was headache inducing for me.
MLAA doesn’t affect textures like crappy QUINCUX in fact does.
And besides I don’t see any over smoothed textures in this MP.

I’ll be playing Uncharted 3 regardless of what happens to Gears 3. I’m sure it’s fun for you, but I’m just not into it. I’m also not a fan of Unreal Engine 3.

Gears veterans knew the un-written rules of not taking someones down. now that the game is make more casual and noob friendly, people are taking any bleeding SOB crawling on the ground.
it’s likely due to the fact that COD fanboys were butthurt over black ops and are used to taking peoples kills (last stand). oh well, when MW3 comes out the trash will follow…

Graphics look typical uncharted and uncharted 2 Jared, similar to what we’ve seen on the previous games.

I’m sure it’ll be a good game, i’ll complete the single player mode on it like i have on the previous two games and let my ps3 go back to doing what it does best(bluray movie playing lol).
Naughty Dog isn’t the type of company that makes graphics come before gameplay. The graphics simply compliment the gameplay in the Uncharted series.
I had so much fun in Uncharted 2′s single play campaign and I can assure you that it wasn’t because of the pretty textures (although they didn’t hurt). Naughty Dog puts so much polish into every aspect of their games. So much so that I often found myself thinking “Wow, what CAN’T these guys do?”.
What does it matter though… it’s all about sales right? It’s all about bragging about your favorite console isn’t it? It’s all about flaunting your “superior” console and about how much it’s “winning” and then putting a little “lol” at the end of your statements isn’t it?

Yeah, PS3 has a great Blu-ray player (class leading), an accaptable web browser (flash support), fantastic mutlimedia playback support (AVI/DIVx etc). Xbox has kinect (ahem), an average gaming platform and………….well thats about it. Yeah, some PS3 games fall short because of the complexity of the system, but most these days are on par or better. Choose your poison……I choose the BEST system, the one with the most capabilities. Your jealousy is now becoming apparent. Please mate, spare yourself any further embarrassment.

It was almost as deluded as the speech u gave about how gameplay comes before graphics, despite the constant mocking of ps3 losses in head2heads. Never once have you said, “oh well, its a minor difference, it wont affect the gameplay”, so this suggests, that theres a sense of inevitability that uc3 will look better and all round is a better game than gears 3.

sanchez, take a chill pill. theres little doubt in my honest opinion, that in terms of overall quality of products, available for a console over its duration, the 360 has ps3 beat. in recent times, its balanced itself out, and the exlusives are a major factor in me keeping my ps3 and trading 360 in, but theres little difference between what the two systems offer power wise, and if ur a shooter fanatic, that lives online, then live offers a service which psn cant really match overall at the moment.

@ Suarez07, the browser is problematic but the best out of any console offering to date. The Wii browser is a joke. I love it, as the flash works pretty well, and I use it to stream television shows from a site called Blinx remote (& mega video). As I live in Australia, I can watch shit before it is aired here. The quality is great full screen on a 50″ LCD. My fiance’ likes it a little too much, and max’s out my download limit on a regular basis watching Madmen and desperate f&cking housewives, as well as any other garbage. lol

Amazing textures, animation, special effects? Yeah this is an Uncharted game and another GOTY as well. Uncharted 2 still looks better then almost every other game out there, damn all the other devs out there need to take some frecken notes here! First and foremost, i’m a texture whore, so when I seen Gears Of War series and Killzone 3, it always satisfied me there, but this? This takes the cake, and the whole damn bank money!
Screw the graphics, i think everyone knew that this game would look phenomenal for a console game. But I’m liking the sound of those guns, makes it all the more powerful to hold. I like how they improved the target reticule having a dot in the middle making it easier to actually get some headshots. But why do you still take two hits to go down with a melee both pistol and rifle, who the hell survives a blunt attack like that. Either way this is looking sweet and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Can’t wait i’m downloading now. I just wish my connection would hurry up. Now i’m remember why i kept my Ps3. multiconsole owning FTW

Uncharted probably relies heavily upon the SPU’s – Naughty Dog would have to optimize the engine for the 360, but it is possible.
The 360 has a superior GPU, it just needs to be utilized better.

whilst i dont dont the 360 could run in some form , I do doubt it would run in its exact form, even with optimisation to use the gpu of the 360. The game has been designed around using the ps3′s superior cpu and its spu’s , which grant it a lot of processor power. This isnt a damning of 360 as inferior or anything like that, as there is games on 360, which couldnt run on ps3 in exact same form, Bayonetta comes to mind(the original ps3 version doesnt count, its a shoddy port, that was knocked up in short time frame), with its alpha heavy images, the ps3 bandwidth would not cope with it well at all, and some sort of changes would have to be made, maybe offloading the effects on spu’s and changing how these effects are done, probably having to utilise some sort of imitation to achieve them . Each console has its strengths and weaknesses, and when games are built around them, the other cant imitate it, like for like, at least

The fanboys just hate us for owning both consoles because the can’t afford it. They should just get jobs and save up enough many to buy one or the other. having both the 360 & The Ps3 is the best decision I ever made period.
whilst I agree that its generally best to own both consoles, to get best of both worlds, dont assume people who dont own both , dont own them, as they too poor. I owned both and traded my 360 as i didnt have time to play all the games i had, and my ps3 was my preferred choice of console. some of us have lives outside the virtual world too

MK9 on PS3 has: 1 extra character, 3-D, and Trailers – it also has dumbed-down graphics and extreme slowdown during X-ray attacks.
The 360 version looks better, and maintains a higher framerate.
Quality>Quanity

Some would argue that with the vast majority of multiplat games looking better on 360 and often performing better too, that the 360 gaming library has upper hand.
The bluray disk has no power, it adds extra storage space, but multiplats rarely take advantage of that anyway, so it boils down to ease of use to program and the engines people chose to use. Here 360 has advantage, and ends up with usually the better multiplat game. So if the Sony exclusives aren’t important to them , then 360 is the better choice for them. Especially when u consider live is in many ways the better service online , and they get quite a bit of 360 exclusive live games.
I prefer ps3, but don’t try sell that ps3 is way better, power of blu ray bs, cause only idiots are buying it.
Is it just me or does uncharted 2 look better than 3? I mean the game is great fun and the graphics look good, but the textures just don’t seem as good as ucharted 2. I wasn’t really expecting them to be any better than uncharted 2 I would have been happy with them being exactly the same, but it seems to me that it maybe runs a little smoother in performance but the textures just don’t impress me like uncharted 2.
think its just u mate, remember the video is a compressed video, and not the same as running in front of you on your tv.
its also a few months from release yet, and fine tuning to visuals and performance will take place still. Uc2 was smooth anyway, as it ran at a constant 30fps, so performance didnt need tweeking, any extra oomph , is going into adding to visuals.
Actually, i was talking from having played the beta not watching the video. The textures are lower quality, also the game kinda sucks. What bullshit is it to have the losing team get random boosters in the match to help them catch up? that sucks i’m not into that. If my team is doing better I don’t want to have the opposing team get random boosters and I wouldn’t feel like I really won if i was on the losing team and caught up in kills because my team does double damage. Back when the uncharted 2 beta came out i was amazed, it looked better then UC3 does now, and I don’t remember the uncharted 2 beta looking any different from the retail release (I could be wrong there though). I was gonna buy the collectors editon of uncharted 3 because I loved 2 so much but not now just regular edition for the campaign. I’m sure the campaign will still be great and gameplay is number 1 but graphics and multiplayer are not impressive, also the 3d mode’s framerate is unacceptable low.

it has to be played on a HD TV full HD (i have 81cm…… oh and my TV is about that size aswell;) ) or otherwise i suggest you get your eyes checked. it 4 months from release as well, so even more to look forward to.

Really can’t see where these lower textures are tbh. Why would they need to lower texture resolution when they had game running at 30fps and looking great in uc2( also uc3 doesnt use msaa anymore so has more processing power freed up), and have refined engine further since then? The only logical explanation would be if the maps were vastly bigger, which would require a lowering of some textures to accommodate them.
4 months from release , I guarantee there will be improvements , there always is from betas.

My PS3′s freeze and Uncharted 3 comes up with, “Error initializing session manager.” anybody here got this kind of error too?totally frustrating
Been one patch today and another on way tonight I think, seems first sorted lot of issues out, and this should iron out few more.
This game looks 10x better than Crysis 2 does (in my opinion). Crysis 2 got too much attention and only turned out to be such a mediocre game. I’d give Crysis 2 5/10 if I was rating it.

Maybe after the DX11 patch crysis looks better on pc. But after playing it many times maxed out in DX9 the only advantage it had was framerate.
i think the gears 3 beta went down for a short while to after the gears pre-order players joined the bulletstorm epic edition owners (could be wrong, i think it was one of those if you are online already it doesn’t affect u but any additional ppl coming on cant get on)
besides, this beta is pretty much for anyone to join. millions of people have ps+ now. If it doesn’t crash in some way shape or form, all the more to look forward to when the real game comes out.
I can’t believe I thought I’d say this but Gears 3 beta graphically looked better. I know it’s just an MP beta but UC3 looked really blurry, with offset shadow bias issues and I dunno just didn’t wow me graphically like I thought it would. I’m sure the S/P will look much better.

Personally didn’t enjoy the Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta and found it soon got very repetitive but really liked the Mute All button. Graphically nice though but didn’t stand out anymore then the first 2 games..Loved the first 2 games and will love the 3rd game but don’t see it being a multiplayer masterpiece.
Gears 3 will be the same but again don’t expect it to be amazing online. Both of these games will be fantastic offline campaign must buys though.
TBH when i think online multiplayer i think MW3, Battlefield 3, Fifa, GT or Forza not uncharted….
And Please Please Please don’t add multiplayer trophies to this game i freaking hate it when developers do that..
on another note do we know if Uncharted 3 will be doing some Move integration? (personally hoping they don’t!)

um, more mature creations, less jack/etc. the thing that uncharted lacks that i love in every game is crazy looking creatures to fight. doesn’t matter what genre(TP RPG, please?), i just want them to make an amazing game and world to play in :0
