This game is a “Fable wannabe” in all aspects(but I find Fable worse than it in all aspects). Enormous amounts of bugs (textures, missing ground, sound, music, dialogue etc) even for a demo version (dialogue bugs render it unplayable. I hope they get fixed in the full release). The graphics didn’t impress me at all (way too simple) and the combat is boring as hell. Some mechanics are broken and the dialogue is monotonous and the characters are emotionless.
This was a major dissapointment for me, who was looking forward at buying it. Good thing this demo saved me a few pennies.
i cancelled my pre order after playing the demo. It was like playing a smoother version of fable but still too simple like a PS2 game which would be fine like 7 years ago. Oh well ill give it a shot when its cheaper.
wasn’t impressed by the demo. :\
I had a different reaction than you guys did. I wasn’t necessarily thoroughly impressed with the demo, but it was exactly what I wanted it to be. I liked Fable a lot, but I hated that my guy was an Albino, that the art style and script was so cute and casual and that the combat just wasn’t really satisfying. Not to mention that I wasn’t able to complete Fable because of a trigger glitch.
I liked this demo a lot because the change of environment, and knowing that there are far different environments are major reliefs from Skyrim’s “Oh look, arctic tundra”. The combat reminds me a lot of Fable, but it’s more responsive and I like that magic is given an equal number of dedicated buttons since the trigger toggles-on-hold to magic. The environment the game takes place in reminds me of the Elven area of WoW, and I like that the caves in that area are full of bioluminescent plants and other interesting things.
For whatever reason, I didn’t encounter any glitches other than twice having some stretched texture on the ground from a corpse which went away pretty quickly. Reckoning on Twitter says its pretty old code, and obviously who would respond to someone with “Sorry, game’s shipping with the same code as is in the demo”, but like I said I had no issues.
Maybe I’m more impressed just because I find Skyrim so stylistically monotonous, which is inherently an issue related to Skyrim being the part of Tamriel that is all arctic mountains, tundra and deciduous forest and being mainly only inhabited by Nords. But it just felt like a breath of fresh air to be in a high-canopied rainforest with weird plants and some actual colors.
