In this First Look we take a glimpse at the first few incredible moments of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham City. Arkham City reviews actually went live today, and they all pretty much come to one unanimous conclusion — the game is outstanding. I 100% agree Unscarred. I barely ever surf the web with volume on but I did last night, and man is that video ad above annoying. I just spoke with Shawn and he is going to remove tonight as soon as he gets a chance. Sorry about that guys.

Why can’t you just look forward to enjoy this game (or any other) on your console (PS3 I guess) no matter what the game looks like on the console you don’t own? It seems you have more fun in reading H2H and flaming XBox 360 than in playing game on your beloved PS3…

I agree ,just enjoy the game. No matter what LOT head to head will tell. Its all about the game and the person who buys it to enjoy it!
I Agree… Let’s just drop this “This console is better than that” thing already plz. Let’s just enjoy the game. And no, It doesn’t matter what LOT says. It’s all about whether YOU enjoy/like the game. This game will be AMAZING on ALL Console and PC of course. So Happy Gaming! Can’t wait for the 18th!

Maybe it’s just me but I didn’t see any screen tearing in that video. I hope the PS3 doesn’t tear!
Your obsession with screen tearing is a little boring. Do we really need you to bring it up for every game. How about you wait for the analysis if it bothers you that much. I remember you complaining about a tearing figure of less than 1%. It’s pathetic.
But all the PS3 footage I’ve seen of Batman AC looks exactly the same as the 360. Even the action heavy bits.
It tears, not heavily, but it tears . I’ve seen both versions tear, and original tore too.
Another game for you not to play now.

GAME OF THE YEAR, NO DOUBT!!!!
At first I thought it would be Portal 2 or Skyrim but the closer we get to the release of this game, the more that statement rings true.
Rocksteady screwed up by making prerelease DLC AND locking out single player content. I don’t care about the online pass, but when it comes to locking out single player content that pisses me off. It’s not even a little bit of it either. It’s a huge chunk of it as it’s parts that playable in the story mode.
Game of the Year Edition with all content on disc or I’m not ever getting it.
This game looks so AMAZING. So getting this….on PC.
Looking forward to this one Arkham Asylum was beyond amazing, I really hope this lives up to it, as I plan on spending quite some time with it.
A shame Zolrak will miss out on this amazing game, as he doesn’t support or buy games with online passes.

This game is so god damn amazing. Graphics are superb, Gameplay is superb, Story is superb. This game will get GOTY award for sure.
Btw, @ThePeople Who are having problems with ad’s, Download adblock for your browser. Firefox or Chrome. idk about IE Explorer though
Will the PS3 version be getting exclusive content again?
In a way yes. The Sinestro Corps costume is exclusive to PS3 but only if you get Green Lantern on blu ray.
Wow, the PC version was delayed for a whole month. F- that. Just preordered it for the PS3 on Amazon. Cannot wait!
I could no care less about PC version of this game, to be honest.
Cant wait to see all the xbots cry when the PS3 version outperforms the failbox version in everyway.
Arkham Asylum was far superior on the PS3 and AC will no doubt be better.
The first batman was slightly better on 360 as eurogamer’s face off suggested.
This will be a much anticipated h2h it must be said.
The tv ads over here are all showing 360 footage though, make of that what you will.
It’ll be a tie or a slight 360 win i reckon(much like the first game).
I’d fully expect a slight 360 win on this tbh. Game runs on unreal engine 3, so will most likely favour 360 again . The differences will be mainly minimal of course , as rocksteady did great job on original .
Footage I’ve seen tears even on 360 , so unless they’ve triple vsynched ps3 versio
, it will likely tear more. If they have, it’s frame rate will most likely drop more.
However , I’m certain I’ve seen ps3 footage on site recently and it tore also, so I’m guessing ps3 version will be the slightly inferior version all round.

Technically yes 360 was a bit better mostly cause of the 2xMSAA but PS3 got exclusive content which I guess is more important.
Think DF had mapping differences and even marginal performance advantage for 360 too.
Anyway, I’m still to play first game tbh( own it , but couldn’t get into it straight away), so I’ll delay on this till it’s cheaper and I’ve played first game.
Like you said content is more important , but for those swayed by tech differences , 360 likely to be winner.
PS3 version had also a better camera visual allowing the game to put more stuff into the screen and resulting in a slightly better experience gameplay wise.

There is some PS3 footage (off screen) floating around Youtube and I looked VERY hard to see some screen tearing. Couldn’t notice a single torn frame. Rocksteady may have just outdone Epic games with their own engine. LOL

They actually already did with the first game.
There is definitely tearing, usually when traversing the city from rooftops. That’s when engines under most pressure , as it’s calculating large amounts of geometry. Only brief tearing and didn’t see it in other circumstances though.

The camera angle is interesting point, don’t know if DF picked up on that . Wonder what reasoning for that was.

I am not talking about the camera angle but the framing itself: in the PS3 version of Batman Arkham Asylum the field of view is much more wide and it actually makes you able to see more around your character. Think of it as a “visible overscan” version of the “normal one” on XBox 360.
