Happy New Year everyone and welcome to 2011! First off, we want to say thanks to all our supporters for making 2010 our best year ever. We couldn’t do it without you and we really appreciate all of your comments and kind words throughout the year. Now, 2010 was one of the more memorable gaming years in recent history. This year did number on our wallets for sure, but when the releases were as good as they were, we consider this a fair trade-off. We’ve “cherry picked” the 5 games we want the most in 2011, but we also want to know what games you out there are anxiously awaiting. Be sure to cast your vote for your top 5 picks below!
Mass Effect 3 - (PS3, Xbox 360 – Holiday 2011)
When you’ve got a story as intriguing as the one presented in the first two Mass Effects, its pretty easy to make our top 5 most anticipated games list, and ME3 will finish what the first two games started. This is what we know about the story so far…wikipedia – “Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth. ” Check out the teaser trailer for the game here. ME3 has a “Holiday 2011″ release date.
InFamous 2 (PS3, TBA – 2011)
Just like Naughty Dog and their Uncharted series, Sucker Punch has shown what a talented developer can really do on the PS3 – and that’s make some of the most visually impressive games we’ve ever seen. However, as you know, great graphics don’t make a great game. Good thing the first InFamous introduced some of the coolest powers and abilities a main character has ever had at his disposal. If InFamous 2 has half of the incredible gameplay and style as the first title (and judging by the latest gameplay video released, it does) we’ll all be in for quite a ride when this one finally strikes down.
Gears of War 3 (Xbox 360 – Q4 2011)
With Bungie ending their run on the Halo series, and essentially their relationship with Microsoft, EPIC’s Gears of War is undoubtedly the company’s flagship title for 2011. Originally planned to be released in April, the game is undergoing some fine tuning and should hit store shelves in Q4 2011. Gears 3′s new features will include a 4-Player Co-op mode, New Weapons and Executions, and a new multi-player “Team Deathmatch” mode to name a few. As for the story – “imulsion that powered Sera’s cities has infected and mutated members of the Locust, causing them to become Lambent. The Lambent are evolving into a new enemy that threatens both the Locust and humanity.” Bring it on!
Batman: Arkham City (PS3, Xbox 360 Q3 2011)
From the moment we laid eyes on Batman: Arkham Asylum, we were instantly in love with Rockstady’s comic masterpiece. With the sequel, Arkham City, Rocksteady adds a few more familiar faces to the mix; Catwoman, Two-Face, and Dr. Hugo Strange have all been confirmed in the latest entry. From what we hear, Batman’s new playground, Arkham City, has also been made exceptionally larger. Protecting the scum filled streets of Gotham looks more enjoyable then ever and we can’t wait to get back to them.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (PS3, 11-01-2011)
With all the amazing effects seen in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Naughty Dog proved that they are “among” the most talented developers the gaming industry has ever seen. So when they announced that Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception would be making its way to the PS3 on 11/01/2011 we knew this would easily be our most anticipated game of the year. We’ve only seen some early videos of the game in action and needless to say, we were blown away by the effects ND has implemented in UC3. November can’t come fast enough.
Again, we know it’s impossible that everyone is going to agree with our opinions so we’ve put together a poll of more great games coming out in 2011. In this poll you can cast your vote 5 times. If we missed your most anticipated game in 2011 please tell us by commenting and we will add it to the list.
