Only a few days ago, Ubisoft revealed the official release date for Far Cry 3 in a new (and all CG) trailer from the game. Today we get actual in-game screenshot from Ubi, and they look fantastic. You can view them below. Far Cry 3 will be released September 4th in North America and September 7th in Europe, on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

I wonder how this will look compared to crysis 1. I know ppl tried to say farcry 2 looked better than crysis, although it did look beautiful, it was no crysis.
I love the colour in the car pic how you can see the beach. looks fantastic. hopefully the SP isn’t a letdown like number 2. and hopefully map editor is awesome like number 2′s.

Far Cry 3, like Far Cry 2 before it, looks absolutely beautiful. But in the end, it is still a far cry from the level of graphics that Crysis is capable of:

Wow these screens look great. All taken from the SUPERIOR Xbox 360. As we’ve seen with Crysis 2, the INFERIOR over priced internet ready blu ray player can’t keep up when trying to run a truly nex gen engine like Cryengine and the RAGE engine. Pitiful excuse for an imitation game console just putters out with reduced rez, stuttering frame rates, missing effects, missing shadows, absence or reduced anti aliasing, and reduced and/or no SSAO.
This game will rock on the SUPERIOR Xbox 360, as usual, and the over priced internet ready blu ray player will choke, as usual.

I think you’ll find it’s ‘id Tech 5′ not ‘RAGE’ engine. Oh, and COOL STORY BRO.

Man this game looks good on pc this should rule hopefully a console port can also do this game justice Crysis on the consoles was better than I expected so I have hope. I am glad Far Cry went back to the island setting the first game with the high def texture pack is epic seriously.
If these are PC shots, they’re awful.
@ainsley. You really think the game looks bad why do you say that. Crytek has also been at the cutting edge of graphics tech I have no doubt that on pc this game visually will be EPIC consoles should be good too if crysis 2 is any indication. Also keep in mind there is still dev time to tighten things up. I would love it if they upped the gore levels in the game to realistic levels. I want to see the horrors of combat and the carnage I have caused LOL

It doesn’t matter, as Crytek isn’t involved with the project. Ubisoft Montreal is the developer of Far Cry 3 and the Dunia Engine is the one that powers the game, not the CryEngine 3.

Cryisis 2 was not the best looking game on a console. It doesn’t matter if Far Cry doesn’t have better graphics than Crysis. I’ll take Far Cry’s gameplay over all the Crysis games any day.

if you remember before farcry 2 came out the videos they released and the photos blew away crysis, then the game came out and it was a “farcry” from the trailers.

Why are you guys complaining about the graphics? They look amazing. I just started playing wind waker again and the art style of that game is beyond beautiful. I haven’t seen a more eye pleasing ocean/water effect EVER in ANY game. Jesus christ some people just forget the little things I guess. Mind you that LoZ:WW was a GAMECUBE game and it STILL looks AMAZING.
