Bethesda has updated their response to PlayStation 3 gamers experiencing “long-term play issues” during The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, despite the release of update 1.2. Below is the official updated blog post from Bethesda.
While the 1.2 update fixed the long-term play issues for most PS3 users, we are aware that is not the case for some. We’ve been reaching out to a number of those users to collect save games, so we can take a look at their specific issues. Right now we know it’s not one thing, but a combination of smaller ones that some folks are seeing, but others are not. Some seem to be the PS3 autosaving in the background (you can turn that off), some may be SPU AI updates, and some may relate to dynamic system memory allocation. These fixes are not in the current 1.3 update that is in final testing, but will be in future ones. We understand how frustrating it can be when your game is having issues, and we thank all of you for your continued feedback and patience. Rest assured we take your gameplay experience seriously and will continue working on this until it’s resolved.
We’ll let you know as soon as update 1.3 is available.

This is pathetic. The game saves should have nothing to do with the program execution. They should be just a copy of the game’s state. Dark Souls has 8+ MB game saves as well and for sure they don’t cause any problem.
This is Bethesda. Excellent visuals and great concepts, awful technical implementation. So much for the new game/graphic engine.
Bethesda programmers simply suck hard.
they are more a pc developer where bugs and crap are more common, console gamers are not as use to it as pc gamers.
@Michelasso
However, every time you hit a bonfire in Dark Souls, you revert straight back to the virgin state of the game. (Aside from your stats and non-respawning NPCs.)
Skyrim doesn’t do this, it constantly changes and updates its self as you play. And due to the massive world of Skyrim, a lot changes.
However, this is something that Bethseda surely should have seen in play testing. I don’t believe they’re really caring about the gameplay experience, seeing as anyone playing Skyrim would have done so long enough for these issues to rear their ugly head.
Great game, but I won’t be fully contempt with Bethseda until it gets completely patched. And even then, I’ll be very wary of similar problems in later purchases.
How can such an awful developer release such good games?
You have to feel sorry for ps3 only owning fanboys.
First they get a terrible version of the best game of the year, and second they have to suffer gloating 360 and pc owners who keep reminding them how well it runs on their machines.
It’s really good on 360 and pc just in case you haven’t heard already lol.
@Blandriod123
That’s real good, Blandriod, we’re all happy for you and the other shitbox fan-nerds; Now go continue to celebrate your new found glory with a candle-light dinner and sex with your xbox…
Ive played on 360 and PS3 and to be honest this game difference is slim… there is more lag on PS3… but i prefer the softer look on PS3, its jaggie city on my 360 version, so whether you call that sharper or not is up for debate?… I agree the problems should not be as they are for some PS3 owners, thats poor implemation by Bethesda and a game should never be released like that… Not game of the year either… “Uncharted 3″ hands down for me… Skyrim is not the be all and end all of RPG games and if it is such a masterfull game then why does it have a shed load of bugs and issues over all platforms?..
@Mezzer
When Skyrim works, it deserves to be a nominee for Game of the Year. As it is one of the best RPGs in a long, long time.
..When it works.
@Mezzer
You prefer “softer” look? So Bayonetta and Gostbusters along Skyrim on PS3 must be your most loved titles

Anyway it’s not only LQ graphisc but also poorer framerate on PS3 version that makes it version to avoid.
I returned my copy today and amazon gave me a full refund. I don´t want to incentive anymore buying games from this kind of developers. Shame on them!
Well that’s good! One less n0oB playing the Ultimate GOTY and all following GOTYs that are going to be released!
I own both consoles, and I was planning on getting Skyrim GOTY for Xbox anyway. But now I guess I’ll buy it used instead of new. Same thing for Fallout NV GOTY next year.
Bethesda isn’t going to see any money from me until they learn how to do multiplatform releases properly.
