The first screenshots of Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 have appeared in a new article by Wired. The shots come from a video demonstration which took a team of 14 engineers and three months of production time to complete.
The article talks about the demo showing volcano belches and burning embers mixed with swirling snowflakes, something which we must admit sounds awesome. The engine can handle millions of such particles as long as the hardware running it is powerful enough. Have a look below and let us know what you think. To read the full article, head over to Wired.

Wow this is intense. Looks great. Epic is always pushing the boundaries. Looks like they’re doing it again.
sure it looks gr8,BUT WE NEED FROM EPIC(UNREAL 4) SOMETHING LIFE-LIKE graphics!
Uncharted 3 looks better than this
Poor fanboy
1st pic really sets the standard. It’s in a league of its own. Particles glorious particles! I’m so glad they decided to debut the engine with fantasy rather than dude-bro.
Looks like me in the morning :}
Hexen (Also known as Hexen: Beyond Heretic) is a first-person shooter video game developed by Raven Software, published by id Software, and distributed by GT Interactive beginning on September 30, 1995. It is the sequel to 1994′s Heretic, and the second game in the Serpent Riders series. The word Hexen in German means “witches”.
Is’that New Hexen???
as nice as the images are they are just renders.
until we see actual PC or console footage this is all just magic, lets face weve seen it time and time again with new engines and then when it comes to the games running them they dont come close.
probably runs on a gtx 690 or something. PC can easily handle this with the gpu’s out atm without much issues.
also i forget to mention that a gtx 690 is about 30x more powerful than the gpu of the xbox 360 while costing only 5 times as much
nvidia ? pfff ati all the way
Those are actually screen caps from a realtime demo running. (camera was moved around during the video). The demo was also running on a single gtx 680. They also snapped the camera to a character actor and walked around the environment and played with objects in the environment.
Also the video will be release early june as that is when the NDA runs out.
Meh, GOWIII clone.
Damn, that looks good. Cant wait to see teh full demo running. I’d love for my computer to be able to run something as good lookng as that. HMMM maybe its time I upgraded my graphics card.
