Capcom’s Asura’s Wrath has been labeled a God of War clone since its announcement. I was wondering if that was really a bad thing? Check out the screenshots and video below to see how this game is shaping up. I personally can’t wait for this game.

Why did they compare it to God Of War 3?
Its graphics are miles away from God Of War and the gameplay is totally different.
The game looks amazing but comparing it to GoW3 is totally unfair, it would be an epic fail…
…for Asura of course.

Not only is calling ANY game a “insert game”-clone already fucking stupid, but calling a game from capcom, the freaking GODFATHERs of combo centric games, the creaters of devil may cry, and street fighter, a god of war clone, is just BEYOND RETARDED. God of War wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for devil may cry, and to a lesser extent, castlevania (from konami, duh).
Also, this game looks NOTHING like GoW.
I’ll clarify why it was considered a clone of GoW. It has nothing to do with the gameplay since any 3/4 view combo style beat’em up would be a clone of anything in the genre. An Asura is a buddhist deity (God or demigod) that is addicted to wrath, destruction, pride, and boasting. Does this remind you of a certain someone? Kratos maybe? Nevermid that the base idea behind the game is for Asura to destroy all the opposing Gods. Thats where the cloning idea comes from…not gameplay.
On the other hand I don’t know where Castlevania fits into this discussion since a combo or 3D style play wasn’t introduced until Castlevania 64 sprung up. How awful was that game. Thanks again for the comments and discussion as always

Ok cool, and to clarify, I wasn’t attacking the LoT staff in my first post. Mostly just people in general that call something a clone of something else.
Also, thanks for the story explanation, I didn’t know that that was what the game was about, and now that I do, yes, I would agree that the story is similar to gow, but that’s like saying any FPS game that involves shooting demons is like doom, or shooting aliens is like halo.
Also, I only brought castlevania into the mix because lament of innocense and DMC came out before GoW 1, and there were some obvious influences from those games in GoW, which is why I never liked the term “gow-clone”.
Anyhoo, I’ll still try to dial back on the cussing. Sometimes I don’t even realize I’m doing it.
No worries PS3RON the whole staff attacking thing never factored into my reply. I should have included the storyline in my post to explain the “clone” aspect of the game. I’m a huge GoW fan and any game claiming to be on that level is one to see. Also I forget how damn old I am sometimes. Most of my Castlevania experiences are with the 2D games. I enjoyed Lament of Innocence actually, more than most I think. It was the terrible taste in my mouth that Castlevania 64 left. Ill tell you this though Lords of Shadow was well worth the playthrough and a great rebirth for 3D Castlevania.

This Is the second time one of my posts has gone under moderation. Are we not allowed to cuss? If not thats cool its just I didnt see that in the rules. I do tend to enjoy dropping f bombs but i’ll stop if need be.
I didn’t even curse in one of my posts and it went under moderation..
It is very tuff for me to even get through a sentence without an F bomb, no worries.
It’s going to see interesting to see how the UE handles this games, so far the closest one has been enslaved, im quite tired of seeing only FPS u sing the engine.
